Scotty, can you hold your camera a little steadier when you're looking at the diagnostics screen? Like at the 18 minute mark, you're waving your hand around while holding your camera which makes it hard to read the screen you're looking at.

You have to keep your old stuff or buy older used cars if you want to maintain them yourself. The wealthy can afford the cost of ownership. The average owner just goes into debt to buy that new car or pay the massive repair bill.

Good advice. My brother's Subaru, 2014 Outback, burned oil from the get go. Dealer said 'that's normal'. Right. In 2022, the head gasket blows. Dealer: $7000 to fix. Or we'll give you $7000 for it as is if you buy another car from us. That's what he did, but not another Subaru of course, got a used Buick SUV from them.

I can tell you my the worst vehicle of 2023: Ford Maverick Hybrid. After waiting months for it to actually appear at the dealership due to "supply chain issues" it ran great. For a while. At 21K miles BOTH front axles broke! At the same time! On a 500 mile trip no less. Ford said they couldn't get the parts so they kept it at the dealership until threatened with the Lemon Law, then magically the axles appeared and were installed. It still has outstanding recall issues but they don't have the parts for those either!

I always warn my friends and family not to buy them but they don't listen. They really think they're getting a great deal. That deal goes out the window when your engine blows. It's 2024, there is no reason you shouldn't get 100,000 trouble-free miles, at least when it comes to the engine/transmission. A car that burns oil inside of that is not a good car, period.

I have been saying for years that Hyundai/Kia are junk...I have owned seven GM vehicles and they all run great I have never had or needed warranty work done, now I'm not saying GM is the best car company but my friend is a mechanic and he and I where taking about what car I should buy a Chevy or Kia...he said go with the Chevy sure I enough last June I bought a 2020 Chevy Equinox 2.0T and I love it no problems with it thank God and it gets great gas mileage and the power is nice from the turbo. In conclusion yes Hyundai/Kia undercut nearly every other car company in price but there's a reason for that...they are garbage throw away cars...if my car burned oil at that low miles I would get rid of it .
@beepmcjeep5527
@beepmcjeep5527 5 месяцев назад
Had the same exact car ('05 Tiburon), at 30,000 miles it overheated and blew a head gasket on a busy freeway. Super expensive bill (had to tear the whole engine apart) and fixing was way beyond my paygrade/experience. Cooling systems on them just weren't built to last. As a kid I still loved it though, and I know it was cheap because my Dad bought it 😂 Drove it up til about 110k / 13yrs with otherwise standard maintenance, sold it off to a friend of a friend for his son and as far as I know, still running fine. Overall would not recommend, I had PTSD for years about check engine lights and the temperature gauge, etc. But it did teach me it was worthwhile to learn about cars.

Wouldn't fix it even under warranty. Never will buy a kia again. Also had problems at my kia dealership on tires wearing at 20k miles that they wouldnt honor the warranty saying even though I got them rotated on time i didnt get an alignment each time. I said i took it to your dealership why didnt u align it? He said they dont do that there. Never Kia anything again. @@trdtrek3717 the thing with Kia/Hyundai is it's been a recurring issue that their larger 4 cylinder engines are prone to catching fire. Kia/Hyundai seem to be doing whatever they can to avoid fixing the problems they're having.

The paint and plastic dash are gone but it is still running. The 2008 dodge was made of mostly Bosch parts and that truck run great up to over 130,000 when I sold it. The newer Dodge trucks are crap as you said because like most vehicles now a days they are all plastic and too complicated. My current 2010 Tundra has 145,000 miles and runs like a clock. Plus I get 18 MPG with the 4.6L v8. My theory of cars is run them till the wheels fall off and get out and put them back on. The Toyota Tundra is a better driving truck over the Dodges I had as good as they were. Like you I only buy used cars because I let someone else take the depreciation buying a new car and driving it off the lot and it is worth less than you paid for it.

I remember a 1.4 Fiat Stilo. When new, at around 12000km the oil pressure light turned up on a curve. There was almost no oil in the engine. The service switched to 10W40, checked how much it burned and said it was within normal limits. The car ran fine for many years burning some oil, than was sold cheaply, as an old Fiat. Despite severe oil shortage it ran fine up to 6-7000rpm on regular basis for many years. No significant damage, it seems. Anyway, it burned oil and was underpowered for Stilo, but I say it was a pretty not bad engine anyway ;)

I must have been lucky with my 07 Jetta, picked it up for a few hundred and it served me well for a good four or five years before i sold it. I think besides regular maintenance there was one issue with oil leaking that was easily fixed. Definitely wasn't my expectation for my first turbo diesel, I'd expect a lot of headaches and it turned out to be a great reliable car. The engine is great as well, not only reliable but actually really fun. The weight to power ratio means you can get ahead of much more expensive and powerful cars for the first few thousand revs. It sounds great for a small car and it's got a lot more guts than I thought it would. It also saved me a ton on fuel since the government decided to lock diesel prices to help with shipping costs. I never would have bought a Jetta if it wasn't for the suspiciously too good to be true price but it turned out to be one of my favourites.

I agree, there’s no need to have a vacuum pump for the brake booster on a conventional setup unless the intake manifold spends a lot of time under positive pressure … my ‘89 Mazda 626 was a 2.0L turbo, thus had electric cruise control when vacuum cruise was common, though it had a large enough reservoir for vacuum brake boost. $1800 for an electric vacuum pump is crazy expensive. The worst idea was voice coil electric brake boost. Nissan tried that on the LEAF EV starting in 2011. The electric boost was unreliable and Nissan returned to vacuum boost by 2014 with an electric pump to make vacuum.

@wtmayhew
@wtmayhew 5 месяцев назад
@@Morboeatspeople Yes, the MX-6 had the oscillating vents and there was a button to turn them on or off as desired. It was a pretty good idea and aI’m surprised it seems to have disappeared. Even though the MX-6 was mechanically very similar to the Ford Probe, some of the interior things were Mazda specific and I believe the Ford did not get the oscillating vents. The MX-6 also had a very rare option for rear wheel steering which I believe Ford never offered at all on the Probe.

@@AndrewFaust-dh7kg True. Kia and Hyundai have been putting serious effort to fixing their vehicles and reputation (still not enough). Their styling is top notch and really seem to care about the future of cars. Many people say that their ev's from the two companies have been excellent and have had little to no problems. I think the charging network is still too poor to get an EV though. Still, I would say that the owner, driving habits, and maintenance history is more important to the vehicle than who built it. Our family has a 2000 Celica that is all rusted, the battery is held with a bungy cord, and engine has a horrible idle problem all because of the previous owner. Yesterday we fixed the exhaust because the mount to hold the muffler rotted away causing it to drag on the ground. Our 1992 s-10 has 226,000 miles and still drives. We bought it will 220,000 miles. It needs a new clutch and has some idle issues because the family member who owns it doesn't care for it as much as it needs (the oil gets checked very rarely.)

While it was under warranty they should have taken it back and demanded that it get fixed or they get their money back by suing the company. Kia had this same problem in Britain - until a customer drove one through the showroom windows and then set it alight and burned down the dealer showrooms. Kia quickly got the message and recalled them and put in high quality oil and piston rings and :VOILA' problem solved. FUNNY HOW THEY 'SAW THE LIGHT'!!!.😂😂😂😂 PS - I had a 96 Volvo 850 2.0 GLT. When I bought it, it had 20k on it. When I sold it with 101K and NEVER burnt so much as thimble full of oil. I religiously changed the oil/filter and flushed it at 3k and used fully synthetic oil - mind you Volvo engines of that era were made to last and they used quality internal parts. It seems that Kia are diberately making rubbish engines and offering excuses for a shoddy product - BUT, WHAT'S REALLY BAFFLING IS THAT CUSTOMERS ARE BELIEVING THEIR HORSESHIT!!.

I wondered if the KIA was burning oil or leaking oil, but nope, just crappy craftsmanship. I bought a new GMC High Sierra in 1984. I got 3 miles from the dealership and the low oil light came on. I immediately turned off the exit to a station, popped the hood and saw oil on the engine where the oil sending switch was seated. Somebody at the factory had cross-threaded the sensor when they installed it at the factory. That should have been my hint to give the vehicle back, after that it was all downhill.
