After all these years, I still think this is one Badass car. Still looks better than some new cars out today. I still want my own interceptor since I was a kid.
Just got this movie on DVD :) It's funny, throughout the movie they avoid obvious branding on the car but in the very last scene where Charlie hands over the car to his little brother, you can clearly see DODGE on the back of the car in white lettering. Of course the little Chrysler logo on the nose is somewhat visible throughout the movie, but somehow I never noticed any of this in the 80s ha ha
Killer video, great job. Loved the movie, this is the ultimate "Hollywood" car. Next in my opinion is the Mustang they used for the short lived new version of the Knight Rider series. :(
You know what sucks about the movie? At the very end, Jamie pins all of the murders on his brother by giving him the car and skipping town. What kind of brother does that?
but, after packard's death loomis has given up the chase so that car won't be hunted again and sorry if i responding to 2 months ago comment just wanted to explain
+UnknownAGENT007 It's a film =P And you could say that, with that car, no police will ever catch you, you're always on the edge havin' a thrill when you drive it, so if you were on the run most of your life in that who gives a shit, life full of thrills and chases, I'd be quite happy with that hahaha =)
How can this video have 28 thumbs down?! How can you not like this video?! Somethings wrong with you, if you don't like this video! 50 of the "likes" on this video, are from me, over the past three years.
the back end isn't big enough to support an inline 6cyl. Sure you can cut the frame but that will muck with the rear suspension geometry.. Though using a 2 or 3 rotor Mazda rotary engine would make it a scary fast car . It's too bad the guy who did all the work on the car for the movie never got around to making kit car molds of this thing since the movie had 6 cars made from the molds of the original M4S. This would've been a really cool kitcar to build if the parts had been available.
Great Video! The first time I saw a 1990 Nissan 300zx I thought the car looked just like The Turbo Interceptor. My future project will be to recreate the car using the body of the Nissan 300zx. What do you guys think?
The Daytona Turbo was black. Forgot mention that I also owned a '77-78 Firebird Formula (blue not yellow) and a '65 Plymouth Barracuda (black), like those seen in the movie. It's all just dumb luck. Not shown, and my favorite, was my customized '68 AMX. ;^)
Plymouth PPG 'Interceptor' Concept Prototype... It s a Plymouth, NOT a Dodge and it is based on a Pace Car Concept for Racing... similar to the Dodge M4, but its a Plymouth variant.
No. There are only 4 true Interceptors in the world. How bout we leave it like that and just admire their beauty. think of it as the woman you will never get, only admire.
Shifting it your self is the only way to stop the auto from shifting too early....Plus he driving a dodge shelby style daytona turbo it looks like...You would want to wind that motor up so it could take advantage of the turbo lag ..Them kinda motors work better in the upper rpm's...leaving the auto in drive it would shift before you hit your max hp and rpm's..It would make it hard to keep the motor wound up on a road race if you just left it in drive.
Good movie......good story......crap acting.........THE BEAUTIFUL DODGE M4S, if it wasnt for that car being in the movie I don't think it would of worked. Roll on the day when I can afford my replica LOL
Hollywood you could not find a real blown Z car to use for this back then? hehe Blower butter flies closed ...I guess maybe they blew the budget on the Waith car..hehe
