“No other choice”? Sure, if you ignore the fact that he could’ve lived life as a normal citizen of the kingdom in Sugar Rush or modified the game in such a way that he also gained power, got to race and didn’t create the glitch. Heck, he could’ve downgraded Vanelopee instead of trying to erase her and it probably would’ve worked out.
he wanted absolute power with no chance of her getting her memories back, hes a narcissist at the end of the day, but at least he didn't try to outright kill her or her subjects and people. btw Thanks for the Likes!
@@TosmongolaHe literally tried to beat her over her damn head with his cane in an effort to try to stop her from crossing the finish line as if she ever crossed the finish line, the game would’ve reset and made her ruler again.
@@Irobert1115HD Exactly, the thing is he erased everyone's memories, he was able to change the code so why did he leave Vanellope as a glitch? I get that he wanted to make sure she wasn't a racer as her crossing the finish line would reset the game or whatever but he didn't need to boot her and leave her as a glitch. He could've just joined Sugar Rush as a different person or took accountability and joined as Turbo. But no he doesn't so he's a shit person 100%
When your literally made to think like that yes you can explain or acknowledge or excuse him even to a degree that yes it sucks the devs programmed him to be like that and because of that he was super impulsive practically having no control over or actual awareness of what he did but no one is saying you have to agree, defend or even have empathy for him, instead just realise the guy was practically the equivalent of being mentally conditioned from his creation to be the way he is.
@@Slidius that is such a Cop Out. He was mentally conditioned to be that way? I was mentally conditioned to be attracted to girls younger than me. That does not mean that I should b, or put it in the practice of my life.
I think the reason why he reprogrammed Vanellope was because she was supposed to be the best in Sugar rush. So by eliminating his biggest rival he now had no competition on who was the best
This video does make me understand more Turbo’s reasons to do what he did, but it’s still not enough to make me forgive him. He ended up being the ruler in Sugar Rush and co-exist with the game, but all at poor Vanellope’s expenses. This poor kid was stripped of her title, her home, and was also stuck in the game for literal years. But you did highlight a lot of details that I never even considered tbh
it is in many Konami games. contra, gradius, life force (all for the NES), then in other games as well. It gave you 30 lives in contra, gave you all the powerups at the start of gradius and life force.
Never mind the fact that probably dozens of other games have been replaced and yet nothing about the characters from those games invading and altering other games. But, just because nothing like that happening before Turbo did it is mentioned in the movie doesn’t mean Turbo was the first to have that idea. Who knows, Felix could originally be from a different game.
turbo WAS the first one to do it because his actions were incredibly specific, there's a difference between simply living in another game and actively trying to take it over when yours fails
@@fortnitesexman Good point, unfortunately I am going to completely ignore said point because your username is “fortnite s*x man”. (Read in a “failed sarcasm” way)
The era before wreck it ralph's release would have been mostly stuff like asteroids with abstract shapes as characters. Also felix gets killed and comes back to life. Im more suspicious about that lady from the shooter game whose husband died. He could have been the driver from Hard Drivin' or something.
@@GoldenGrenadier I think he isn't even supposed to be a real character (or a character normally walking around in the game), maybe Calhoun just had cutscenes of him because she's programmed to be a grieving semi-widow
okay for the most part I agree with what you're saying though the code you're talking about is the Konami code and it was from a game pronounced TAP-er. A tapper is a person who serves beer from a tap or keg. This person is responsible for ensuring that the beer is properly stored and maintained, and that the tap lines are clean and free of contaminants. Tappers may also be responsible for changing kegs and monitoring inventory levels. Tappers may work in a variety of settings, including bars, restaurants, and breweries. They may also be responsible for serving other types of beverages, such as wine or cider, from a tap or keg, and are seen at breweries the bartender is similar to a tapper by two places, which are Bars and restaurants. only one is seen in a night club is the difference.
my dad bought this movie on DVD for me when it came out. the disc has lived in our RV and every single time we go on vacation, to this day, i watch this movie. one of my favorite movies of all time.
Honestly, he could've programmed himself to be a racer, perhaps a DLC character, a hidden one that shows up in races and can only appear if he wins. He could have the best stats in the game, and not try to delete Vanelope
@@The_og_moonwalker Didn’t Ralph did that with like the homeless characters from the main lobby? They just appeared in the game and the children that played it just like oh a new mode or something, interesting. They just accepts it.
Another fun detail, when King Candy asked Ralph if he was going Turbo. He got super defensive and was ready to fight. Seems a little silly at first glance, but it's an interesting moment.
The dumbest thing in the series was Vanellope just deciding to leave her own game behind and be part on some random online game in the second film. I imagine a lot of her fellow racers could’ve gone Turbo as Sugar Rush would then be removed for missing a popular character.
One little headcanon i have on the reason of why turbo somehow managed to survive the un-plugging of the games was that he was really cocky and over-confident he decide to camp out in the plugging oasis hub thingie to witness the unplugging of the new game, but he also witnesses the unplugging of his game
His world literally ended, it's program but if we assume they have similar psychology to human a misery can really fuck up ones mind. Circumstances can drive people into doing horrible things, even people who say "Oh I would never do this I am good person and I would do something else" it is easy to say when your psychology wasn't constantly influenced for a long time. In book _Ordinary Men_ Browning argues that normal common men who were drafted committed atrocities due to pressure Now what Turbo did wasn't the worst thing that ever happened however 10 years of being homeless, being on pedestal for long time then being literally nobody would defnetly affect mental status. Turbo would be a victim of circumstance
The odd code was the Konami code used in many original N.E.S games and granted the user 30 extra lives. It is one of the most famous cheat codes in video game history.
Wreck-it-Ralph was a perfect movie. They ruined it with the second movie by making Vanellope go Turbo, but justifying it by making Ralph the villain again because he didn't want her to do it.
3:11 yeah, that does make me think. It would give us a clue about how he's turbo, and the possibility that in the 80's he visited Tappers bar game to drink after winning and enjoying his life... or maybe he drank to douse the guilt of unplugging his rival game and himself... Or maybe he thinks too much about the secrets he is keeping, so he drinks and has all these spare napkins. What do you think, Max?
As someone who’s had Turbo as my profile pic for the past 5 years I can confirm that he’s just a silly little guy who wasn’t mentally stable AT ALL. he can do no wrong ever😁😁😁
Turbo was coded and born to be the top racist, but he still had the choice to take a good path. He could've stayed alive and homeless at the hub, or asked for help to be included as a normal racer in a roster, but instead he chose to go kick out the princess of an innocent game, erase everyone's memories and live a life of gaslighting to stay nowhere less than the top.
I understand what you were going for, but there were quite a lot of things Turbo could have done to both still be a famous figure. Including becoming an internet legend. Given what Turbo had done to the other racing game, he could just have hung around. Always zooming just out of reach, hopping game to game, and going “Turbo-tastic!”. There is no doubt that one day, he could have a remake of his game purely because of someone’s memories about some weird character that always appeared in all the arcade games they played where this weird dude in a racing kart would appear and say “Turbo-tastic!”.
Because Arcade Machines have copies and dumped ROMs for emulation exist, that means that there are still multiple copies of the characters still existing.
Vowel sounds can be long or short. Long vowels can be made with a single letter or a digraph (two letters making one sound). The sound of a in hat is a short vowel sound. The sound of ai in rain is a long vowel sound. Words have meaning and tapper and taper are very different. Although a tap does taper.
Turbo's defense kinda reminds me of the Rose Quartz defense omg like they were both basically js programmed to be that way (which works well bc afaik gems are basically just holographic computers with sentience from the way Pearl explains it) and I actually think these theories could align with the whole universe of TAWOG considering the void and the ending of the series omg also i love your videos so much i just found them and i fw these so much
If only Turbo just waiting a few more months or year when Ralph Broke the Internet happened! I mean Venellope basically went Turbo in the Internet (by staying and became part of Murder Race game world) and there was no cosequences to her action!
3:11 You don’t know the KONAMI code? You need to brush up on your video game history, especially for a video about a movie about video games. And there’s 2 “P”’s in TAPPER’s…
But i wonder so many things during the movie, how did Turbo disguise himself as King candy? Did he ever learned programming an coding? How did he even get that design? Was king candy an actual character that was scrapped but the creators of the game kept his code within the game so Turbo was able to become him?
Turbotime was released in 1987 but turbo didn’t become homeless until the game become Outdated.. so he couldn’t have been homeless for 10 years unless the game was outdated the same year it came out.. if that makes sense
I think your point about the programmers making Turbo that way is completely incorrect. By that logic the movie doesn't happen because Ralph's entire thing would be "Unga bunga! Break building!" and that would be that. As the famous scene notes, he is a bad guy, but not a BAD guy. Turbo was in a racing game. The objective is to come in first, but that doesn't always happen. Not every kid who plays is going to win, especially in an arcade. As such, Turbo should know how to handle taking 2nd, or 3rd, or last. But he couldn't handle that, and tried to steal or sabotage is competition. I don't think it was out of desperation. I think he was the hero of his game, the good guy. But he wasn't a GOOD guy.
Turbo got his AND the new racing game unplugged because kids in the arcade played other games. He then proceeded to repeat the exact same mistake with sugar rush. He removed every citizens memory against their will. He had a choice and he decided to double down. There were literally interventions for people like him shown at the beginning of the movie. He had options and he didn’t pick them. He deserved to be eaten by a bug and then cooked in soda. Sure you could argue that his programming made him desire to be the best, but Calhoun’s programming made her dismiss the idea of love because of her tragic backstory. If she can change for the better then there’s no excuse for Turbo.
Your argument of him being ‘coded that way’ loses ground when you bring up Ralph. You point out that Ralph was coded to be bad but he CHOOSES to be better. There’s even a support group. Turbo had decades to be better and live as a side character or optional non-main character driver. Turbo isn’t a sympathetic character since he’s so self serving and will do anything to keep his status as ‘the best racer’. He didn’t kill Ralph that one time out of any kindness, it was because it would’ve been far too suspicious if he did.
