My husky has plenty of toys and we give him bones to chew, yet when left alone for just a few minutes, he always finds something important to destroy, like my tv remote, couch pillows & my other pup's doggie bed. He even managed to damage the handles on his crate, when we left for a bit longer (like work, school & shopping) from the inside!

Hi there. Negative reinforcement is not what you described. Negative reinforcement is when something uncomfortable is taken away when the desired behaviour is achieved. It is a method to increase wanted behaviours. A head collar is an example of that. It is a tool to teach dogs to walk on leash. It gives the dog a sense of discomfort and he/she learns that by walking as the owner want the uncomfortable head collar will be removed. What you describe sounds more like punishment, which is the use of negative methods to decrease unwanted behaviours.

The term you’re looking for is positive punishment. Negative reinforcement is removing negative stimuli in order to reward behaviour (e.g. a kid doing it’s homework and as a reward it’s allowed to not to chores)

So we hav a female Siberian Husky and we hav had her since she was 12 weeks old but she had an accident with another dog where a German shepherds k-9 tooth went thru her cornea and Misha had to hav a cornea transplant and she went thru about a year of vet appointments and high doses of narcotics but now that she is older it’s hard d to get her to listen ( like jumping constantly on anyone also always pulls on a walk ) we hav had her in training 3 different times so could this hav something to do with her vision since she didn’t get full vision back in her eye or what she went thru as a puppy she will do simple commands like sit and lay but that’s about it

How do you go about training a 5 month old husky to use the bathroom if I live in a apartment ? I watched the video you did about training them to use it outside but how can I go about it if I’m not able to take him out every 2 hours ? He’s constantly pissing & shitting on my floor & I’m unsure of what to do. Please respond I need help

Not an expert here, just trying to help out. Try to use puppy pads or newspapers. Since he's kept inside the apartment, you will have to watch over him 24/7 if you want him to be potty-trained, just until you get the timing. Look for cues that he's about to go and move him to the pad. You're lucky if he's the kind to go potty routinely some time after they eat because mine isn't like that, there's no definite span of time of when he goes, he just does. But every single time he does it right, you have to give him a treat. I find treats to be the most effective way of training. This worked for me, even took me just less than a week. I've trained another dog to go potty on the bathroom floor, and then we just scrape up their poop with a flat tool, toss the poop in the toilet, and mop/brush the floor. We then clean the tool. Less expensive than using pads. These are just a few ideas you might want to give a try.

I just got female husky pup 12 weeks weve had her for 3 days now she sits and runs to the door now when she needs the loo. Im stuggling to get her to come back to me on command. Ive been saying come/come here on repeat, i never get angry or frustrated with her. Am i wrong to repeat saying come/come here to get her to return to me. I encourage with chicken 🤣 instead of having "normal" breakfast, we play fetch in the garden. I use "bring the chicken" (chicken toy) or "bring the ball" and if he drops it, I ask "give it to me" and point at the toy. Then treat. My husky loves fetching now + he burns some energy before a walk, so he is much calmer during a walk

My dog Gemma wouldn't stop running away from our house because she just wanted attention but it scared the neighbors to death because she's a pitbull so we installed a shock fence and put a shock collar on her neck so if she tried to get too close to the fence it'd give her a warning sound then a shock if she ignored the warning

yo formula, my 2 month old husky is scared of walking. As long as he can see the house he will want to go back but as soon as we turn the corner where the house isn't visible he will walk perfectly fine =/

From my experience w my husky pup (now 5 1/2 months old) and my 4 year old husky they usually grow out of phases like this as long as you encourage them to walk and explore instead of just bringing them back inside the minute they seem scared

E-collars are illegal in UK. They're terrible tools, even on a low setting. Please don't use them. If you need to train recall, use a long lead. My 11 months old husky returns fine from 30 metres. Edit: and to make your dog stop barking. Train "quiet" command when the dog doesn't bark. And reward them with treats. Then when your dog barks, say "quiet" and stare at them until they stop barking. Then reward.

My husky used a prong collar for 3 months. I had him for 2 years. After we trained him using the prong collar there was no need to go back. The prong collar is not negative in my opinion and helped myself and my dog enjoy walks better. If the prong collar is put on correctly it does not hurt the dog.
