This makes so much sense! I found my baby Husky boy abandoned super young. His eyes were still closed, even. He has been my baby ever since and we are inseparable. He is coming up on 5 weeks old now and there’s a bite for every whim. And then there’s the biting when he’s just playing and acting like a butthole. But, he is, already... the absolute smartest dog I’ve ever crossed paths with. Already potty trained and knowing how to “sit”. He is the joy of my life, besides my 4 children, and I’m so glad he’s mine.
My husky is 3 months and he bites and scratches the heck out of my son’s hand. Every time he tries to bite me I give him a chew toy. It’s crazy that you just uploaded this cause I was truly getting tired of the biting. Looks like my son got in a fight with razors.
KingYi Chi Me too that’s what I did give my pup a squeak toy or a bully stick and then give her a massage behind her ears for good behavior aka not biting me!
I understand puppies bite, But my puppy bites aggressively, To the point that me and my six-year-old son bleed. When I tell him to stop he growls and starts acting aggressive. I'm concerned
@@patriciaperez2369 mine too, but I think I need to take my boy out more and get him tired and socialize him more, it’s hard when we’re parents or work but that might be the key to that issue, I wish us both good luck!
My husky pup bit my finger so hard that I probably needed stitches but I just wrapped it in a band aid for like three weeks and I still have a scar. The cut was so deep. She’s seven months now and still bites hands but definitely knows her threshold now
Loved this video! One of the things I did with my Wolfdog (He has Husky and Malamute in him) was give him tiny antlers and hooves. Through trial and error, I learned that they enjoy toys they can actually break and progress with as oppose to rubber ones that are just for chewing!
My bfs brother keeps saying my puppies biting to much and my bf is starting to agree with him so I'm so glad you made this video . Kinda putting my brain to rest about his behavior
Hi Sixty Formula, I’ve dealt with dogs for a long time and have never heard of “bite threshold,” but your explanation makes good sense. Keep up the good work and continue for you and the pepperoni pizzas to be safe.
Happy birthday to Hila (I always remember it because we share the same birthday, hehe), thank you for making this channel it's not only educating, but entertaining at the same time :)
I've rescued an almost 2 yr old husky. Clearly had a lot of good traning in general. He does play with his mouth and stopped trying to play with my hand and his mouth... however when he is dealing with younger kids(9+) who like to put their hand in his mouth he does play bite their hands. He hasn't ever shown aggressive biting but I am not sure if this is something I should be worried about or not. I've had him for 2 months.
That is very true I did the same for my dogs. And if you see our channel you will sometimes see my dogs biting and moving my hand but they are very gentle about it. Great video
I got a baby husky because of your videos and im leveing every day of it. Pure white female 10 weeks old i got her at six weeks of age. Thank you for all your content and help explaining the tendencies of huskys.
I have 3 inch long scar across my palm from little play session when my husky was 4 m/o. We kept giving him something to bite as much as we could, still the biting did not stop. But he knows now that biting hurts and only nips us to get our attention in desperate situations. Hes 7 months now and trust me the biting gets better.
My husky is 4 1/2 months and boy... Im going through!! But I can tell the difference now FINALLY!!! I used the baby cry trick on him and he learned how not to bit as hard.. I have a son and now they can play together safely😁😁😁 Thank you!
I'm with ya Sixty Formula I've save all my dogs baby teeth (at least the ones I could). I guess I'm just that sentimental lol. I let Kyrie (3 months old tomorrow) bite my hands as we play not only is teaching her the bite threshold but I also think it's a bonding thing between me and her. We are both learning each other together. I absolutely love your videos and how positive you make the training. I have watched a few other youtuber's on the topic of training Siberian husky pups but to me personally I didn't care for them and always come back to your channel. Keep up the fantastic job!!!!!
Our Siberian Husky rescue wouldn't let us touch her feet and was always wanting to "communicate" with her biting. It too lots of work but eventually we got to the point where we could clip her nails and while playing she would bite. We taught her that when we said "gentle" she would immediately stop biting. She would still use her mouth and teeth, It just wouldn't be forceful. I really miss her.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY needed this information. Thanks a bunch. Love all ur vids btw. Just got a husky pup and got a ton of valuable information from your channel.
Our 4 year old rescue still tries to bite me occasionally. She even tries to trick me by putting up her right paw for a shake and then trying to bite my hand. I'm almost 75. I have thin skin and take a blood thinner so I really can't take bites. I've learned her behavior well enough to keep her from biting me. I simply put my hands under her neck and gently massage it. We have a lot of pull toys and dog safe balls so I can always use one of them to distract her. I never scold her for trying to bite but just show love instead. We've had 10 malamutes and huskies over a 30-year period so we have had a lot of experience with the breeds. Mika is the only one who has continued to try to bite at her age.
I have shepherds and they have needle sharp teeth as puppies also. If you have these kinds of large breed dogs as puppies, you need to understand that until they are 8 months or older you are their chew toy. It helps them to learn their threshols and it helps you to learn their communication.
I have binge watched so many episodes! About a week ago I rescued a massive (100lb) husky from a bad home. I already have two aussies and have had that breed my whole life. Shepherd life is what I know! These have been SO helpful in understanding my majestic horse. He is incredibly social. Do you have any tips about integrating a husky in an “already established pack”? For the most part, we are doing great! But I’m avoiding triggers I know will be a problem. Thank you for the videos!
Among all the RU-vid videos of so called Husky expert, no one ever thought of addressing this particular biting Issue. This helped a lot.. i shall stop reprimanding my puppy hence forth. Loads of love from India
Thank you for yet another informative video. We will be getting a female husky in a few months so I am watching lots of your vids and gathering as much useful info as possible. We had a samoyed before but they are not the same as Siberian huskies and our girl was pretty obedient as not quite as stubborn. I've got to admit I'm not looking forward to the biting months but I will follow your advice however painful it might be. Warm greetings from the UK. ~ Missy ~
Hila TOTALLY just rolled her eyes!! I am dying!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 When I am playing with a puppy, and they bite me, i dont mind it, but i whimper like how its brothers or sisters would do when they bite them.
I have a husky/pit bull. I didn’t know what I was getting into. 😭 but we love her so much. She is 8 weeks old and I feel like she won’t stop biting and ripping.
Hey Mr Sixty! Thank you so much for this video!! You ready my mind, this is exactly what I wanted to know ! Thank you!!!!! Guess I’ll be growing harder skin on my hands 😂
@Green Horizons yeah with all the weird voices and things like that! I know a small group of people might find that cringe but this man knows how to express his happy feelings so good!
I’m getting my huskaroni pizza here on the 26th. I’m very excited and I’ve been watching your videos even before I bought him. Thank you for posting and have a nice day! 🙂
My husky is 4 1/2 and he actually used to bite less at 2 months and 3, but ever since his 4th month he started biting so hard. He gets excited while playing tug or returning with the ball, that he’ll just throw a big bite at whatever he sees, arm, hands, legs, sometimes even tries to go for the face… I’ve had puppies before and played with puppies that were not mine too, and I’ve never had my legs and arms as bruised as I do have them right now. Three days ago he drew blood and made a deep small cut on the back of my palm side of my wrist. I have to constantly tell people I’m not abused, I have a puppy lol. I don’t know why I didn’t think about it before, but I just bought some sleeves from Amazon for arms and legs: hope they work. I don’t want to discourage the biting, so that they can Learn, but sometimes I fear for my tendons and I need them for work 😱
Mine almost bit the tip of my finger off when he was about 5 months old. He got put into his kennel immediately, and the bone he was chewing on got thrown into the marsh behind our old house. Never had an issue again after that. He still play bites. But after that ER visit you learn the difference between an accidental play bite and a real dog bite. huskies nibbling isn't a huge deal. Then again, my 76 year old grandfather has to wear work gloves when he plays with my husky. His skin is a lot more thin, so the play bites scratch his skin open :/
Hey i really want a husky. I did all my research and watched all of your tip videoes but my parents still won't buy me 1. Can you do a video with ways to convince your parents to buy you a husky
Rescue one! They get abandoned so easy because of their energy levels, if you buy one be careful not to get one from a puppy mill, puppy mill dogs have a whole different set of problems.
My girl was the worst but I let it go untill she got a bit older, surprisingly easy to stop once the puppy teeth fell out. I also found that when the puppy is taken to early from mum they are worse. Mum dogs teach puppy's many things in the early days so getting a puppy before 10 to 12 weeks actually makes it harder to teach them.
Thinking about getting a husky. And almost called Hila Britney Spears within one minute of the video. How do I forget such important things? Oh, that's right-they're both so friggin adorable.
I just got a husky puppy and she has been bitting the heck out of my family she bit my grandma today and I felt so bad. She gave her a deep cut and now I am afraid she will do it to someone else what should I do?
I just got a husky and we are soo excited and happy! I have been taking her outside as often as I can. Whenever she eats we wait a few minutes and head back outside. I made her kennel as small as possible to make sure no accidents happen. BUT I have yet to see her go potty outside.... every.single.time. we head back inside she is peeing/pooping. I have given her more time and attention outside even leaving her alone to do it in peace and still haven't seen anything outside. Any suggestions?
On the grander scale so much of the patience and understanding--and the mindset to seek understanding, that you teach, applies to raising children (even the child within), maybe even several times over. When it comes to Siberian Huskies maybe our relationship with them is what it is because we see so much of ourselves in them. I don't own a husky but wanted to understand my 'neighbors two. Just looove those dogs but they are penned up a lot;-- and of course they arent mine. Im wondering and hoping maybe this channel could help the two young boys -6 and 8 ish train them so they can come out and interact more.Gooood kids too. A video on teaching children to train the dogs? --Because Moms and Dads so often are already overwhelmed. Your videos are so well scripted they can hold a child's interest. We're way, way out in the country; but too near to public recreation and people driving suuupid on a dirt road to be safe for them to just run unless we have some breakthrough powow with doggie behavior.-- Apparently Siberian Huskies will go to any length to meet and greet every human for miles given the opportunity. They are to finding human social opps, with what Johnny 5 (in the movie Short Circut 2) was to input. Ooooo more more more. ... Surrounded by National Forest with so much opportunity for both dog and child if this can be accomplished. Also maybe a video about the importance of rattlesnake training? Can older - a year or so---dogs be taught not to attack the family cat or chickens in a coop. ? Thank you for another awesome video!
The way hela looks in the beginning. Like, here we go again. I just wanna sleep.... hahahaha. They are so cute. Everytime my dog bites me, i trait something that he can bite in so he is learning to not bite me. Also you can pitch a high yell when they bite you, that is what puppies do in the litter when they bite each other to hard. Most people are waving their hands and that looks so amazing to bite for dogs.
What do you think of scruffing to teach them that bite threshold a little earlier? A lot of trainers recommend that for other intelligent breeds like German shepherds or golden retrievers
My husky's not a person biter. He grew up with my chow chow so most of the time they learn threshold from other dogs. They play bite each other all the time. :D
My husky is a year old and still mouths a lot especially when playing now he doesn’t hurt me it’s mostly gentle and it’s definitely not aggressive but is this normal at his age?
You are right I never told my puppy not to bit and she is now 9 months old and she don’t bit us at all . And when we play she is like hila and knows how hard to can bit
This would go for any dog. Not just huskies. Thank you. And, make more a out "not scolding your dog". They communicate with their mouth, smell, and body language. When I say hello to a dog I don't know, always ask the owner for permission, because owner is boss and you don't know the dog. I always strike under the jaw around the mouth. That's how dogs say hello. People's instin t is to keep of the jaw and sharp teeth, but most domesticated dogs don't bite. For most people they start on the top of the head just to pet them. It's OK, but mostly the dog will raise its head asking why you not say hello properly, as around the jaw and mouth. Alternatively you can pet the dog on the back around the tail but that is just for very well trained bigger dogs. Always let the dog smell you, always ask the owner if it's OK to say hello to a dog, and never EVER approach a working dog, they are very well marked with harnish. I miss my dog 😕
I have a husky i got at 6 weeks old she is very playful and is always biting the vet said we should not let her bite and even suggested a form of Benadryl to calm her down... now i don’t feel this is necessary I’d rather put her in her crate and let her calm down but when it comes to the biting thing.... so many people say so many different things
I think my Husky mix is actually a velociraptor or alligator shaped poochie….is 7mths only and he’s gonna bananas in probably the last month with the biting/chewing as his adult teefs come in and I’m like OUCH I need that finger and hand lol and sometimes he’s having none of the redirecting lol
We just adopted a presumed 3 year old husky/pit mix so we don’t know his history. As he’s gotten comfortable being with us, the biting and the excessive energy (we walk him twice a day as well as play fetch in the backyard) is craziness. How do we correct these behaviors?
Thats one of the best humidifier ive eva seen. I think I will check it out gotta get an AC too for the summer. My husky keeps reminding me I need an AC like last summer. I tried saving my boys teeth. I did save 1 but then he took it right off the counter he treated them like popcorn. I do wish I could have saved them tho
Is it weird that i like when my puppy bites me like I’ve been bitten from so many dogs ;-; so I don’t mind that they bite me I would probbably just play with them back 🤣🤣
My Husky puppy has always brought her toys up to us chewing on the ball or whatever toy but she pushes it up against your body and bites at the same time were constantly dodging her teeth when she retrievers a toy. Imagine every time you play and you're holding something she keeps biting it she won't just grab it and pull!! she has to keep chomping excessively as if she can't get a proper grip on the object it's just something she's always done 😫🤔
What’s good about getting two huskies? What benefited you and Hila. (If she was your first dog.) I’m trying to convince my parents to get a second dog, Peyton seems lonely. (Also, great video. In the future I’m aspiring to help people learn about huskies before they get one.) Peyton is 2 months. He’ll be 3 months old tomorrow.
Dude thanks for this I didn’t know this 😭 but dam my husky do be biting HARD (btw it’s cool that you saved Britney Spears and Hila baby teeth, lol I wanna do that now)🥺
if your getting a husky and you need a job because you just got out of college what would be a good paying job so you can take care of yourself and your husky pup?
Hi! We recently got a baby husky! We are trying not to stop the biting but, sometimes it becomes too hard! There is any way to show her the boundaries between "nice" biting and "too strong" biting?? Thanks in advance! and amazing channel!
