Derek, you'll have to go back to Shake Shack on the strip, and try another selection, I know you loved it last time! This one looked real good and fun, you had allot of mmmmm's in there 😆
I would prefer having food servers at the food stations....you hold the plate and they load it up as you direct....moving from station to station as you choose.
Yes. Or they can put what you want on a smaller plate or bowl and give it to you to put on your tray. I like to see exactly what I'm getting. Don't like that someone is doing that for me.
The Wynn always delivers...They are at the top of my list. Glad to see you back Derek. Your fiance. her pleasant personality and her involvement was a nice addition to your video.
See adds a good vibe to the videos. And helps to show more of the food that Derek might not like to eat. Was the "My Fiance" a first reveal or was it said in a previous video?
@@seanr1899 You should see his top Suites.. they are art museums as well as 30 ft high ceilings decked out Luxury.. and you get a butler. I used to work for them, great place to work.. can I afford them,, hell no. But its one of the best hotels on the strip if you have real MONEY.
Flamingo & Harrahs has cheaper buffets at $25, but the food is bad. I went once and never again. Wynn & Cosmopolitan are gourmet-level buffets that taste great like a restaurant. (Also the price is ~10 cheaper Sunday-Thursday.) And finally the casino workers are union at $20/hour (more or less; depends on seniority). No tip needed, so saves some cash .
I like that the Wynn have tried to do something to get the buffet open early. The new system has its perks and flaws but the food looks great. Brilliant video Derek
Be easier if you ordered from an iPad or tablet that sent the order to the kitchen and runners just brought them out. I’m actually ok with small portions done tapas style.
I’ve never enjoyed anything more than this video! Awesome job giving a true representation of the experience. I went into it thinking I’d never pay that price, but after watching your review I’d definitely go for it! Sure the portions are not ginormous- but there’s so much waste on buffets. People serve themselves huge portions, eat a few bites then push it aside and move on. Here you have quality- and they’ll bring you more. Thanks for a great video!!
Thanks for a look into the dinner buffet. After watching a couple vlogs on the brunch offerings, we now have a pretty good snapshot at their offerings, service, wait times, etc..
Feeling a sense of normality seeing your videos of the buffet again! :-D Looking very good and totally agree on the rice (looks very good but not when there's so many other items). Love the plating! A big hello to your fiance as well !
@@billandlisa would love to visit when things settle a bit...by the way, there's a nice buffet in LA that I'm quite curious about... It's Cafe Sierra and a few people mentioned they opened up... Would be very interesting to see how they're doing if you all are around that area...🙂. I visited there about a year ago, and it was probably my favourite place so far...
The Wynn has always been my favourite buffet. I’m not afraid to admit I start with dessert at the Wynn and work my way backwards. Having to order from a server though 🤔I might feel a bit embarrassed. I’d have to swallow my pride, don’t look the server in the eye and get on with it 🤣. Another great review Derek👍🏻
Loved the video. This buffet method wouldn't work for me. The whole fun of buffet is getting your own food and customizing your own plates. This would be like going to the casino and having someone else play the slots for you lol.
Derek, my husband & I love your videos. This was a great one! We love watching your expressions when you take a bite of every delicious morsel. We are dying to see your fiancé! She sounds so sweet & beautiful. Y’all make us so happy & we can only dream of going back to Vegas someday. Bless you both! ❤️
Thanks for posting this video! I'm bummed out that we probably won't be coming out to Vegas this year..I'll continue to watch your channel in the meantime.
Another great video Derek! You did a wonderful job showing the menu, food and providing reviews of each dish as you tried them. It was nice having your fiancé in the video. She seems to know a lot about different types of food and she seems really nice! I think this is one of your best videos of all time! 👍🏼😀
No one is saying dont tip these servers. But in general in normal operations it is pointless to tip someone who doesnt take your order and doesnt bring you food. That is one appeal of the buffet, you do all the work yourself.
Now that the buffet waiters are taking the order and delivering the food to your table, that means tipping your buffet waiter now needs to increase to closer to full service restaurant tipping.
MrZman0004 It only means no more waste of food for people who fill their entire plate and then eat less than half of it and then go fill another place for the same routine. I personally seen this happens 🤦
@@DanielGreen07 actually, casino buffets are run at a "loss". They are used as a "carrot" for the gamblers in all casinos. I know this for a fact as myself, son & sister are all chefs and in fact my sister was an executive chef at a small casino. Just fyi 😜👍. One thing I don't care for are all the plates, too cluttered! I like to pile everything on one plate and go for broke!!!
@@danna982 not sure you understood my point. Regardless of running at a loss, customers are potentially getting less food for the same money/entry fee. Based on this way of serving, they will then be able to predict how much food to order going forward hence reducing thier 'losses' 🤦♂️
I tried an AYCE with this type of service, the first time I tried it I wasted a lot of time waiting. The second time I ordered 6 dishes at the start and once I finished 3 I put the next order in and was kept busy eating till I was done. I love that type of service now as it is cleaner, you just have to get your ordering plan sorted out a bit better.
I agree once they bring you your first order then you put in your next order and someone is someone so this way you cut down your waiting time and get the most out of it but the food looks absolutely fantastic and I’m definitely going there
I don't know what it is about you, Derek, but watching the way you enjoy your food makes me incredibly happy! I really get a kick out of your "mmmms..." and ecstatic eyerolls! And, OMG, how much can 2 people eat!!!
having to order food through a server would make me a little more self conscious about the amount I get. Not exactly a bad thing I suppose but I would probably end up working his butt off to get my $60+gratuity's worth lol
Different experience entirely here. This is not a buffet anymore, it is like a regular restaurant with many servers. However, all the food looks amazingly great!
@@annscott4432 agreed. I like to get a small portion of everything my first plate then get more of the things I like on the second third and fourth. lol
Vegas buffets USED to be an inexpensive way to eat, now it looks like you almost have to take out a loan to eat in these places. So much for the Senior discount. You now pay AFTER you eat and the tax, fees, and tip, you're paying almost $100.00 for ONE person!
It's a fair price. Compare it to the cost of buying prime rib, beef ribs, turkey, crab legs, mussels, cheesecake, ice cream, strawberry shortcake, salmon, and everything else they eat and could have eaten, then consider the time it takes to cook everything perfectly and to clean up afterward. A hundred bucks is cheap.
ROFL. You think 100 bucks is cheap Per person, for a buffet not fine dining? Please, take me out to eat all the time! That is absurd in my world. Especially since all this is basic food& TINY portions!!.And it wasn't even king crab legs. Plus there's only so much 1 can eat in a meal, well excluding a couple of guys I know LOL But I doubt I would eat $25 worth of food let alone 100!
Hi Derek, greetings from Scotland. I so enjoy your videos and this was, IMHO, one of your best yet. Love your commentary and your facial expressions of delight.
My parents and I CRACKED UP at your delayed reaction to the strawberry cheesecake ice cream. You’re so pleasant and endearing; glad to see you’re back!
I like trying a little bit of everything when I go to the buffet. I would def feel bad ordering every other item on the menu. The food looks great, however, it's sad that you couldn't get exactly what you want in the quantity that you like
The food looks so much better when brought to your table! It’s bursting with freshness and quality. True, it’s nice to choose it yourself but I actually like this new style of buffet. The food looks to be of a much higher standard.
Michael Lynn actually, most good fried chicken is marinated, then breaded, ASSUMING you have thawed out chicken ready to prepare. Then depending on the size of the piece it can take up to 20 minutes to cook. They’d been better off sending someone to Popeyes.
I want the exact quantity and combination that I choose not what someone else chooses for me, and at that price plus the tip that will be expected (fair enough if they're being made to run up and down but that's not the customer's decision), I hope this format dies off quickly. Individual plates and cafeteria style is better and I don't see how it's not less staff intensive as well.
I agree completely. This is not a buffet on any level. Rare PR just does not cut it. Ordering from a server and not asking how you like your meat cooked gets old very quick.
I'm glad they found a way of operating that allowed them to open back up, but I don't see that being a sustainable model for them to run on long term. Though I could see that approach being used by the other big buffets in Vegas, at least for a little while. The Wynn buffet has been on my to do list for a few years now and I still haven't made it happen, honestly with that style of operation I'm not sure I would want it to be my first experience there. On the other hand though, I could see smaller portions getting staggered as a good way to try multiple different things since you wouldn't fill your plate with just a few different items each trip and get full quickly. Whatever the case, Derek thanks so much for getting this video out!!! It's very interesting to see how they've adapted!
The food looks great. And I know it's the "new normal" and that this is the way it has to be. But the long ordering process really impedes on the whole enjoyment of the buffet experience.
The Wynn Buffet is always an amazing place to go eat and the food is great, but this kind of way that you're being served will not work. Can't wait for everything to go back to normal again. Thanks Derek for an amazing Video. 👍
The food looks fantastic but I'm not quite sure why there even is a buffet if they are serving it this way. And please, if I'm paying 60.00 for my meal, don't tell me I have a time limit.
I agree on the time limit . I’ve never been to Wynn but in general I’ve found buffet service speed to be painful as far as soft drinks , clearing the table etc
I heard that crunch! Me and the wife have discussed hitting the gourmet brunch as that is about the only time that works in our schedules unless one of us takes a night off. Looking at the video that may be an option as I have loaded up a crap ton of PTO working through the shut down! Thanks for the video!
By the way,Your fiance is a natural at this! I can see why you're a perfect match! Her comments were most helpful....If this was a restaurant I could go to right now. I'm just enjoying the meal vicariously through you and remembering what it was to have a life LOL. But it was very handy to see the salmon compared to the size of a wet nap etc!
Feel sorry for the servers with all the running around they will need to do. Don't like the food being spread all around the table. Kind of defeats the purpose of the buffet.
Exactly, I would feel very bad making my servers keep going back and forth several times in 2 hours. Just not fair to them as servers IMO. Hard to get used to this style of dining!
Really? You feel sorry for the servers?? Would you rather the buffet not be open and they be unemployed? I know that Wynn was carrying them while they were down, but still. They have jobs now (and many don't). And don't you pile on tons of food on your plate and sometimes bring more than one plate to your table? Isn't that the same as this food being spread all around the table? Don't go there if it's not your thing. They have created a new way to dine for the time being. I applaud them for that! So many whiners in this thread of comments.
The way they're garnishing and presenting the food may give you an upscale feel, and a different experience, compared to just piling a bunch of food on a plate with no beginning or ending. I'm loving the new concept
It's a whole new world and The Wynn is jumping in full force. It's great to see their new method of getting food to customers and I am sure the other hotels are watching to see what works and what does not so they can make plans to open their own buffets.
Oh darn! I thought you were going to show your beautiful fiance's face this time. Close, but not this time 😥 She sounds like a wonderful person, and seems like a great dining companion for you (and I truly mean this as a compliment to her). As for the buffet, the food looks amazing, with inconsistent service. Knowing Wynn, they will get all of this resolved quickly. It's interesting to see what the future of buffets will be like. I was actually hoping to see the standard buffet tables displaying the food, but without self-service. Instead, have servers behind the counter dishing up what you want and then hand you your food at the end or have your server deliver it to your table. Great video. I love the way you ordered food-dessert-food-dessert.
Any time I've eaten at a restaurant with this format, it is encouraged to order your next series of dishes when the server comes with your food. That way, there is literally no time spent waiting between series of dishes. I find it strange that you have to order, wait for the food to be served, have your plates removed, wait for the server to return to take your order, and wait some more. It also seems far less efficient employee-wise.
The music was the best thing about the buffet. The waiting would drive me nuts. I do quick weekend trips. No times for waiting. Good work, glad you showed us this.🤪
How do you know it's not a buffet... Derek is eating bread. 😁 I had meat for the dessert before, but that meats for the after-dessert move is stroke of genius, my hat's off to you Derek.
Looks like a great value for the $60 especially for how many portions you had I'm definitely tempted to try it out since like you said there so many different choices
dvandentop I am not entertaining mac n cheese and mashed potatoes for $60 per PERSON. Asparagus, butternut squash, more than 3 corn kernels and a dime size piece of salmon, etc.
I'm not really sold on it.. having multiple servers is definitely different. And true Buffet's looking at what you want before you serve yourself is much better than a picture menu. But yes I would try. Thanks guys 👍😋
Well i would be Ok if they Reduced the Prices by 20% And i wouldn't Tip.. Vegas is Gone Ladies and Gents And i dont wanna see this place in 3 years at all
Great video Derek.. The Wynn is one of my favorite buffets, however, it sucks that you can't get your own food. Part of the experience is grabbing what you see....
Thank you Derek, great video and ASMR with the pepperoni pizza, lol. Wynn needs to implement an app that allows you to order items on your phone. Tickets go directly to the kitchen and servers just bring out the plated meals to the table numbers.
Its 7 pm monday after Derek's vlog into the new Wynn buffet. I just left dinner. Sure it's expensive but you can eat till you bust for two hours. I enjoyed the way the staff brings you the food. It's at a better pace than just fill a huge plate up and barely finish half of it. This is the first buffet where each hot dish comes out hot and each cold dish is cold not room temperature. The food quality was typical Wynn dining--excellent. Now let's see how the Bucchanal tries to top this.
