Superior is Czech company which always thinks about their bikes a lot. Most of them have really skinny tubes and especially seatstays. They dont use nonsense components and they make some very nice light trail bikes also. They are a sister company of Rock machine, which is oriented more into the fun side of mtb. Superior is focused on performance race bikes.

The XC hardtail is a great compliment to a trail or Enduro bike. It’s the mountain bikers Gravel bike. My BMC twostroke Al 1 with the 100mm Sid SL is a race weapon! Especially at 23 pounds! (Alloy Frame)

You think the carbon frame would be superior no pun intended, wonder what that weighs. Was looking at marin, polygon, canyon , commencal, now this company has my attention, like the low weight and it seems fast

I ride a XP 909 and I love it. Got rid of a gravel bike, because this XC bike has it all for me. It is quite fast, it can ride long hours, it can handle multiple surfaces and from time to time you can have some reasonable fun going down a technical trail. I haven't changed any components except for tires, because everything they put on it in the factory just works fine.

Great review. Please do a review of the XF line. I have an XTrada 5 with an upgraded fork and it's amazing for what it is but my riding area is typically a little rough for this set-up. A really nice Trail bike would open up almost everything around me which is intense.

If the website weights are accurate then those are pretty good numbers for bikes with steel stanchion forks. The geometry on these bikes would be perfect if someone wanted a boost axle, suspension fork, big tire, gravel bike, which is something that I think a lot of MTB people actually want, even though they actually go buy an aggressive "hardcore" hardtail. Or at least that is what I have been looking for. What is the biggest chain ring that fits on the front and is it 52mm chain line? Thanks.

That’s exactly a situation where this bike would be a phenomenal fit whereas the hardcore hardtail would not excel in those tasks. As for the max chainring size, we will have to get back to you on that one!

please do a proper spec review of the XP 969. And if possible, also the hard tail XP 979 (I've seen it, but cannot find a US retailer).

What height and inseam measurements does Jared have and what size is the bike in the video. I'm 6' with a 31" inseam and generally ride a medium to large depending upon the bike. I'm interested in a few of these superior bikes (XP 969 or XF 979 RC) and I hear these run large.

Jared is 6 feet tall with a 32" inseam riding a size L - so it sounds like you're pretty close to having similar dimensions.

I heard Jared mention the alloy frame doesn't have provision for a internal cable dropper, but does the carbon frame on the XP 969 has provision for internally routing of a dropper? EDIT: It seems from the website they don't, but the carbon framed hardtails appear to have a spot to route a cable internally for at least a front derailleur. EDIT 2: I emailed Superior and they said the carbon hardtail is internal dropper capable.

Is this bike able to internally route a dropper or able to be tubeless if the tires are changed?

As mentioned in the video, it would need to be externally routed or fully wireless. As for tubeless, you could achieve that with tubeless tape, sealant, valves, and tubeless ready tires.

Yes, rims can be converted to tubeless.

Very similar bike! But the Marlin does not have the modern standards on it mentioned in this video like boost thru axles front and rear making it much tougher to upgrade.

Classic XC geometry is actually trending right now. What markets want is always shifting, and there will always be demand in the market for traditional XC geo to some capacity.

Remote lockout on a Judy? Really could have saved the money altogether or put it towards a better lighter fork like a Reba.

It is a less common spec, but in testing it felt more than adequate for the use case. It was likely selected to keep price down for the consumer! Fortunately the headtube is tapered so it can accept any modern fork.

this is a 1k bike. nothing else in the market competes with it besides an orbea alma h20, but then you're paying $350 to ship to US. Xtrada is basically it's only competition within a $50+/- price range and that bike is more trail than XC

Superior does not disclose the exact length but its pretty long! Maybe 70mm.

It's 2024, every mtb from a reputable manufacturer should come standard with at least the ability to internally route a dropper post. Heck, gravel bikes are even getting droppers.

We are seeing them more and more on gravel bikes. Our Bend series of gravel bikes is dropper equipped, for reference.

bikes is spec'd better than anyting else in it's price range of 1k. go cheaper, now you're getting a shit fork and parts bin drive train. go more expensive, you're not getting much better than a fancy name on you're frame. it's 12spd shimano, 401 brakes, judy 100mm (bike is race XC geo) and still leaves you with the option to upgrade it yourself. i don't understand how people will love to complain about overpriced bikes, yet when something comes along that has a good spec, lightweight, and leaves you with enough money left over to install whatever you want after, people still find a way to complain.

That spec is not as good as my Trek X-caliber 9 and I question the weight being 2 pounds less, lets see a weight in.

Maybe so! It’s about the entire package though, and this bike is really complete for its intended purpose. It’s also worth noting not everybody wants carbon.

you're using kg so i'll assume you're outside the US. you can't find anything for 1k with this spec, weight, and geo.
