My sister was probably one of his biggest fans, he really helped her through a lot mentally, she felt seen and heard by his music. So his passing traumatized her a lot, she stopped listening to his music a lil while after his departure, because hearing it just made her heart hurt. I remember hearing about the shooting, and just praying he made it, reading the news in live time, having to go in my sisters room, seeing her nap, and pretty much just waiting for her to wake up to this horrific news…I’ve heard death screams before, and didn’t want to wait for her to see it online…cs I knew what would happen…we all clowned her over him, but seeing that hurt? Hearing those screams? I can only imagine how the ppl who actually knew him in real life felt…I remember everybody consoling her, she wasn’t herself for a while after that. My heartaches for him, and what he could’ve been today, but my heart also aches for the lives he made just a little bit better by simply being himself. He saved my sisters life the day she heard his music. Thank God for that, everything happens for a reason, and tho we all make mistakes, when you decide to do better, God will help you. I can only hope, wish, and imagine that he’s somewhere at peace.

I was talking to my girl about this case the other day and as fucked upnas it sounds, X was destined to die that day, so many things lined up that day for him to get killed; the robbers already being there scouting for people to rob, X pulling up during the time they were scouting for people to rob, him staying up all night the previous day and not sleeping before heading to Riva (hence him appearing tired in the last photo of him alive), him rejecting his moms suggestion of calling his security to accompany him… he was destined to die that day and it’s sad to say that but just too many perfectly timed coincidence L’s that day

X had an open knife? That’s the first time I’ve heard that too. Not that it changes anything or justifies what they did to him, but it is odd that no one covered that part. I definitely would’ve remembered hearing about that too. It’s also crazy that it took the jury eight days of deliberations before finding these guys guilty. It’s such an obvious open-and-shut case. They were very clearly on surveillance footage, showed off the money online, and had one of the codefendants that was actually involved tell on everyone for the role that they played in the crime, but Tory Lanez’s jury only took a couple of hours to find him guilty. Literally everyone that was involved in the Tory Lanez case was extremely drunk at the time of the incident and all of them were proven to be blatant liars. None of them are actually credible. Who knows what really happened that night, and yet it only took the jury a few hours to come to their decision. I guess that’s just the difference between Florida and California’s judicial system though.

I followed X religiously at the time, his body should’ve never been posted online man, first thing I fuckin saw on my timeline after my brother told me he got shot (was at an interview for a job that day and my phone died at 11am so I didn’t get any of the messages my friends/family that knew how much I loved X, tried to send. I didn’t leave orientation til 6pm and still oblivious about the situation, I was so happy that I got hired that I played both MoonLight and Butthole Girl on the way home and the last song that played before I got out the car was Up Like an Insomniac. Soon as I walked in my house and told my mom excitedly that I had got the job, my brother ran out his room and said “you didn’t see my messages? Ya boy got shot” instantly ruined what should’ve been a great day 😢

I was in Colorado and had been listening to podcasts that month talking about if X would get out of jail or not based on the case he was facing. I had accepted he was going away for a long time for witness tampering with a record but then he got out and I was shocked and happy because I saw he was trying to do good things. He asked people to use his DMs as a journal and just write whatever you were going through. I sent him the shit I was going through over for about a year. He never replied but I just kept writing in case he did and also bc I like writing. Anyways I was at my homies house in Colorado and saw the news trending on Twitter and Instagram. I thought it was a hoax, a common phenomenom that has happened to me in response to several artists deaths including Peep. When the news was finally confirmed that he really did die and it was totally real I seriously broke down crying and posted embarassing videos of myself saying RIP and just looking like a wreck. I don't regret it but because of those videos I can recall the very details of that day very closely around the time of the news. It still breaks my heart man. When they took X they took a young man trying to change his life and do good, who was on a path to success and getting out of a dark past, who had a baby on the way, who was encouraging his fans to do good with the helping hand challenge and by his influence #F*** XANAX 2017 among other talks. They took an inspired mind with creativity and the ability and will to bring the world in his mind to his music in so many ways that had never been done before and never will done quite the same again. When we lost X, Peep, and Juice they killed the voices of our generation- the innovators in music at large who were paving new pathways with their music and connecting with hundreds of millions of people. Sometimes I look at the current state of rap over the last few years...really since 2019 when Juice died...and when I think about X's murderers I feel like they are part of the reason rap he devolved so much towards uninspired music and pure violence and evil. Why is it that the good ones die? I felt similar when Nipsey died, he was an old soul with lessons to teach just achieving big time success and making the best music of his career. Lastly I remember after X died and the SAD! music video dropped- it felt like some kind of conspiracy that after X died he was in a previously recorded music video looking at his old self in a casket and fighting his old self to death. A strange synchronicity almost like something bigger..God or the devil..had planned it out. The devil in Miami lied.
