Cobra exhaust, air intake and fuel controller (or Ivan's Flash) will really wake the bike up (8-10hp) and gets rid of the lean choppy throttle. When needed go with a 240 rear tire, the bike turns better and the wider tire is also taller correcting the speedometer. Rotella t6 5-40 seems to help smooth out shifts and the 1st gear down shift clunk. Don't know if I would recommend it to a first time rider due to the weight and the long rake angle making turns more difficult.

@Zer0Mood 2 года назад
Great advice, however I would say that the the rake actually doesn't hinder turning at all from what I've heard many other people say. But i'm sure experience, height, weight, all of that comes into play.

@allenb7874 2 года назад
I have the Cobra exhaust. Just ordered the air intake and fuel manager. Cant wait to get them on. Thanks for the tip on the 240 rear tire. The speedo being off drives me crazy. Does the 240 install without any modifications?
@notgiven4799
@notgiven4799 2 года назад
@@allenb7874 You might need to add a washer to the belt guard, I did not need to, some have gone to a 250 rear tire and just removed the belt guard. Removal of the rear wheel is easy, install is a pain due to the spacer and the brake caliper bracket. It's much easier with two people.

Nice bike but not a "beginner bike." I know I wouldn't suggest to my grandchildren to start out on one this large. Carry On.... Enjoy the ride...

@WaldoWizard Год назад
The advantage is this. Suppose you start out on a 300 or 500 cc bike . 6 months later you'll want more power . So now you have bought 2 bikes in about one year or two at the most. By buying a larger cc bike you will grow into it . Respect the power and don't let a bigger bike scare you.
@suzintru1
@suzintru1 4 месяца назад
If your a new rider, you DO NOT buy a big cruiser as your first bike! You start small, say something around 350cc. You will make mistakes. Smaller bikes are more forgiving. Easier handling. I've been riding for over 50 years. I've seen newbies get talked into buying a big cruiser as a first bike, they get over confident, go to fast and end up in a ditch!! They lay in a hospital bed thinking 'That sucked', and never buy another bike. If your smart, you start with a SMALL bike, take a motorcycle safety course, and move up in size as your experience and knowledge grows. Be smart and ride safe.
@WaldoWizard
@WaldoWizard 4 месяца назад
@suzintru1 well I respect your reply and I should have added an IF ..a new rider of course should learn on a 250 , just like I did . Now if the newbee is 5 foot 3 and weighs 120 lbs , then for sure they need to move up a lot slower But , If someone is 6 foot 2 and weighs 220 pounds, I think that an 800 or 900 cc bike would be fine. I'm not saying buy a Busa or H2 .

I bought a `94 HD Road King in beautiful condition for $4700 a couple of years ago. I spent another $2000 fixing a ton of little things. Sold it for $8k and bought a new KLR 650. Missed the comfort of the Harley, so looking for a cheaper metric cruiser for under $5k. Found a 2013 Stryker with 2600 miles on FB for $4700. You're video is very helpful. Cool bike, but might need a bit more storage room and comfort. I'm 6'2" and 290lbs. Lot's of great choices out there for older metric cruisers for under $5k.

Just bought a 2017. Was spooked to ride. It's my first bike. Don't be anxious. It's fine. It is heavier than the bike I used for the msf course but once you take off it's fine. You have complete control over the power.

You must have ridden a bike in the past though ? I would NEVER recommend this as a first bike. My brother rode my dirt bikes as kids and a few years ago his husband bought him a Vulcan 900 and it was WAY too big for him, he rode it 45 mph tops, then sold it. He would've been better off startin g on a Yamaha Virago 250, THEN the Stryker. I've owned over 10 bikes, just stated riding again after 25 years on a Honda Shadow 750cc that felt like a 1,000,000cc'S and two weeks later was ready for the Stryker, but not out of the box for me. If you did, and I know others have, then you're in the minority of naturally gifted new riders.

Great video! Thank you! I hope to be getting a Stryker this week. Has the batwing faring as well, looks great. Only 1500 miles and its a 2012, crazy. As far as replacing parts goes, from what research i've done, the V star and Stryker share many of the same parts. It would not be too difficult to find parts for this bike.

One of the best reviews I’ve seen. Very honest and genuine. I’m torn between a 2013 Stryker less than 10k miles for $6k. Or a 99 Suzuki intruder 1400 12k miles very clean for $3k. I’d like to hear from anyone with an experienced opinion.
@MidLifeMotoCrisis
@MidLifeMotoCrisis 2 года назад
I personally like the Stryker. Less miles and much newer. But if your budget is 3k not a bad price to get on two wheels. Good luck!
@Zer0Mood
@Zer0Mood 2 года назад
I'm sure you've already made your decision, however I think we all know the answe is the 2013 Stryker due to being much newer at only $6,000. Either way, I hope you enjoy your new ride!

Thank you for responding. I was impatient and grabbed the 99 intruder w/ 11,000 miles. The price and I thought it more manageable after being so long since I rode. I like it, looks good and is fun to ride buutttttt I’ve revived my cycles skills and I feel I’ve already outgrown it. Now I’m looking at a Yamaha raider. Getting a second bike so soon will probably have me sleeping on the couch for a while. Lol. Learn from my mistakes folks and buy a little bigger and grow into it.

This is not a first bike. Id recommend a yanaha 250 as a beginner bike to get your chops. Then the Stryker is a BADASS bike. Its got gobs of power and i don't ever see outgrowing it. It's a perfect 1st and Last bike.

My GAWD that bike is gorgeous. I am a re-entry rider after about 25 years of not even being on a bicycle. I used to own about half a dozen bikes in the 90's, but since then nothing, so I know how to ride. I was looking at the Stryker and the salesman said I could handle it, but I was skeptical. I ended up getting a Honda Shadow Spirit 750 which is AWESOME and I love it, and I can see getting either a Stryker or a Vulcan 1600 next.

There are sufficient spare parts for the Stryker to last until 2027, plus plenty of aftermarket parts. You can change the colour using a vinyl wrap, think going dark with white cobra stripes or metallic purple or even metallic gold, easy to do by yourself.

Just to play Devil's Advocate, THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER BIKE .It's 1340cc's , almost the biggest bikes out there. Where do you from here besides growing into it ? Sorry to double dip, my friend, but 8 days ago I traded in my 2001 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 for a 2011 Yamaha Stryker. Like I said, I'm new and rode the Honda for a TERRIFYING, nearly impossible, shaking with fear every time I walked out the front door, but forced myself to ride everyday even if for 5 minutes, but it always turned into 30 minutes. I was riding the Honda 750 on the back roads in Petaluma, CA and a gust of wind scared me. I reluctantly rode the backroads 30 miles to the dealership with the 2011 Yamaha Stryker. I asked if they still had it, YES they did. I told the salesman, "You only live once. Let's run the numbers and if I'm not approved, then it wasn't meant to be. Low and behold 15 mins later he comes out of the office, "You're approved." No test rides, since it's used. I tested the friction zone, that's it. I rode home, got the pink slip for the Honda, and rode away on the Stryker. After about FIVE minutes I quoted Dr. Chinnard from HELLRAISER II , "To think, I hesitated." This is the BEST bike I've ever owned and the beauty of a dealership are trade ins. Yes, you WILL lose money, but you'll GAIN happiness. Money is EASY to come by...All that being said, I bought a 2011 a week ago with 15k miles on it from a dealership for $4,999 plus tax, etc...
