I have an '08 wr250x with 2 sets of rims. 20 minute changeover to the dual sport setup. I had a 2017 Tuono v4rr. Rode it for two seasons. Sold it. Kept the wr. Loved the Tuono, but the wr is a keeper. More fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

I love the WR, but I also love the Tuono. While it is certainly fun to ride a slow bike fast, I still enjoy the character of the Tuono. It's always a hoot for me, and I get it out for enough track riding that I can more than justify keeping it. :)

@@hiimchad my reasoning: with Covid, I had no long trips planned. We usually head to Tennessee (I'm in Canada) once a year. That's been screwed the last two seasons. I picked up an '07 gsxr600 for track duty. Chucking the Tuono down the track would be soul crushing. The gsxr? Meh... I'll be more concerned with myself than the bike.
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 2 года назад
That's a bummer, but makes sense. I have a Daytona 675R that I race and am willing to push with the same attitude it sounds like you have with your GSXR. However, I still love riding the Tuono on track. It's a blast, even through I won't push it as far as I will my Daytona. I would say they produce equal smiles with different experiences. :)

I own this bike I’ve don numerous 150 miler trips with it handles it very great, plenty of stops for gas but I never minded my could’ve jumped up to a bigger gas tank but I didn’t feel like it. All around awesome bike. Heads up for new owners always keep that slack adjustment perfect if the chain is a little loose it’ll start to eat at the swing arm other than that this bike is over built af also you can absolutely pick the bike up by yourself I’m actually not very strong and I can pick up the rear of the bike and move it a foot or 2. I’ve dropped it hitting trails and picked it right back up in a split second Edit: you have to try to get the wheels off the ground it can do wheelies and stoppies it you have to actually be trying to do that unless you pop the clutch don’t do that unless you want to. Also go into 2nd and at low Rpms stand up pull up and give it maybe 40% throttle and you’ll pop a decent one
@trashman835
@trashman835 3 года назад
For new owners, chain slack should be 8mm-13mm measuring from the chain to the bottom of swingarm, I like to change my oil every 600 miles
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 3 года назад
@@trashman835 appreciate all your advice and you sharing your knowledge! I’ll keep an extra close eye on the chain slack. It’s been great so far! Really all I use it for is wheelie practice though 😂 I’m getting pretty good at them in first gear now. Can’t quite pop them in 2nd, I figure because I’m 6’3” and 220lbs 😅
@trashman835
@trashman835 3 года назад
@@hiimchad yeah it helps for me to be able to do them in second since I’m 160 but you can also pop the clutch in 2nd and it will do it. if you really want to get into doing some stunts a bigger rear sprocket will give it some more low end torque to do them easier. I put on a 52T rear and it was lot easier to do them

I'm considering a supermoto or maybe a Ninja 400 as a second bike.
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 3 года назад
Either would make for a great second bike! I thought about a 300/400 and ultimately decided on the WR just because it was so different from my other bikes. It's nice to switch it up from one ride to another! 🙂

This bike is so hard to find. Used bikes with 50.000kms cost around 5k. I don't get why KTM is the only manufacturer that still sells a supermoto that has more than 125ccs (In Europe) Honda would make big bucks if they sold their CRF300L as in a sumo configuration
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 3 года назад
They’re rare here as well! This was one of only two for sale within 250kms of me. It really is a shame they aren’t making more low-displacement factory supermotos. They are fantastic bikes!

here in Asia a 155cc dirtbike is enough, let alone a 250 is kinda overkill, atleast where i'm at, and believe me a 250cc is big enough to be intimidated and have fun at the same time... i dont even get why inthe west these things are called "beginners bike." maybe because highways there are bigger hence you need more CC to get by... by anyways.. love your video sir! keep it up!

Hey Gene! I think you hit the nail on the head with our speed limits. In my area, the speed limits on the normal city roads ranges from 50-60mph (~80-100kmh), and a lot of people in cars tend to drive a hit over those limits. Our highway speed limits are even a bit higher than that, with some up to 70mph (112kmh). Appreciate the kind words as well! Thanks for watching. 🙂

Where can i get this graphics kit of the side of the tank...also plz can you tell us your mods about this bike ?? Greetings from Greece !
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 9 месяцев назад
The graphics are OEM. It was the “California Black” special colorway only available in 2009. For mods, it had an FMF Mega Bomb header, Yoshimura RS-4 slip on, FMF piggyback fuel tuner, some kind of bark buster/mirror combo with integrated indicators, and a fender eliminator kit.

These bikes aren't very easy to find, and usually go for anywhere from $5,000 to $6,500 depending on mileage and condition. If you can make a deal around $5K I'd say that's pretty good. Under $5K would be a great deal.

Come on Chad, you and I both know that the only bike is 'The' Aprilia Tuono 1100 Factory..... perfect first bike 🤣....they'll either learn real quick or scare the shi#% out themselves (or really hurt themselves - so I better scrap that idea then). I have had many roadies and I reckon the learner's can't go too wrong with a Supermoto setup. Get their experience up, then ditch it for the TUONO 😂😁😝. I like how you change things up with your vid's, bit of this and a bit of that.....all round bike stuff for many viewer's.
@hiimchad
@hiimchad 3 года назад
Best not to give the beginners any bad ideas, Brett! 😂 Glad you're enjoying the variety! I love having a few different bikes to experience. Makes riding all that much more enjoyable. 🙂 I need to figure out a way to get the WR content out there. These videos don't get nearly as much attention as the Tuono videos, although I think the reason for that is very simple: the Tuono is an exotic dream bike for most, and there are other people on RU-vid that are much better at popping wheelies on their WRs than me 🤣 Thanks for watching and commenting, as always!

Hey Larry! I found mine on craigslist. Your best bet is to check there, as well as OfferUp, Facebook Marketplace, and CycleTrader. They are difficult to find, as Yamaha discontinued production of the X model more than half a decade ago.

Typically a WR250X with around 11k to 15k miles is around 4K in good shape. Lot of people mod these so more times than most if you go look at a WR you’ll find it has decent amount of stuff done to it people live to mod em
