There’s no way the Yankees will offer the most money, especially if the bidding goes through the roof. Only way Soto stays a Yankee is if he takes less money. Keep in mind he turned down a 15 year $440 mil contract from Washington. That alone tells me the bidding will start at around $500 mil. Boras will want him to take the most money. Soto can decide to take less depending on what less happens to be compared to the highest offer. If it’s a pretty significant difference, I can definitely see him leaving. That’s just my opinion.

Great content. Greetings from a Yankees Fan from Germany. I m rather confident Hal s gonna do everything possible because he s visioning Soto same kinda unicorn as Cole. So, I m pretty sure. Though, I still see Mets as serious threat for Soto. Of course, money s not unimportant. But, in some regard Soto s very different from Judge. Soto won t join a ride with a Team stucked to their processes even though they don t pay out or can be imoroved all over the field. So Mets imo are less a threat in Soto hunt bc of their Dollars. I think they could get a huge edge by guaranteeing Soto a voice and Veto If it comes to Players aquisitions and roster construction. So If Mets offer this, on top, and Yankees pretend their process etc is set, having these kinda Deadlines and Offseasons Like last years... . Not a Yankee fan but they absolutely have holes that need to be filled. Soto should be their #1 priority. Having an mvp type season in a walk year, he is 25 years old and not even in his prime. If he does walk away from the yanks they have huge holes at 3rd and 1st base. I can see a scenario where they might take a chance on alonso and maybe look to sign bregman. You have Chisholm (barring his injury doesn't run into next season) who you can put at 2nd or in the outfield. Torres I would take a guess he would be traded this off-season.
