I saw this show at my aunt's house. First time I ever saw a rock band on TV. Next day, I bought a transistor radio for $1. I will be a Yardbirds fan till I die.
The Yardbirds are sadly the most overlooked band in rock. It never ceases to amaze me when I say Yardbirds to a Zepp fan they go huh? The Yardbirds are one of the most influential bands ever.
They were inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1992....not overlooked. Most Zep fans would also have a hard time naming a Chuck Berry, Howlin Wolf or Muddy Waters song.
When I talk to other Zeppelin fans they're usually surprised I know who the Yardbirds are. I'm a lot younger that most die hard fans, (30s) but I fucking love music. and know a lot about it
@monica danon Keep it up girl!!! I play in a rock band and every year we rent a big flat field with a stage and get a bunch of bands and DJs and all of our friends together for a weekend and it's my idea of heaven! Cheers!
I was 5 when this and Heart full of Soul came out. I didnt know who The Yardbirds or Hendrix were, just the Beatles-I had their lunchbox I took to school. My first big song I remember in 65 was Puff the magic Dragon. I may have missed the Yardbirds but am grateful I can see them on videos. Thank you RU-vid
These guys were the ultimate in greatness , i was 20 years old when this fine classic appeared , now im 75 ,,,it still gives me goose lumps hearing it again ,, long live the 60s era xx lol
the best time to have been young ! the Yardbirds were grossly under-rated at the time, but were my first introduction to brit-blues if i may call the genre that. i'm still singing blues with my fantastic band mate, Ioan Wittmann, who played pro in New York for about 10 years. long live the blues and long live our memories of the greatest era to have been young - the 1960s!
I'm an old buzzard too but this was what we heard at the local legion and church dances when I was a kid. Amazing grace by the yardbirds ya have 5 yrs on me but it's so nice to know they are still appreciated . Hang in there old timer.
@@kathyrizzi8754 We really were lucky to have such great music as a base for our future musical tastes! I don't really do "today's music" except for a few bands or musical artists. I also like several genres of techno music. I no longer listen to music radio, IF I HAVE to listen to the radio! I mostly listen to the music my husband put on a usb drive for me to listen to in the car.You know, there's hundreds of songs by a bunch of different artists, and I tend to listen to the same albums all the time! I need to figure out how to make it completely random!
I was eleven years old, and my dad let me go to a yardbirds concert! I was hooked on rock and roll! I'm so glad I grew up in the 60's and 70's, timeless music. The music today is nothing compared to then!
Yes, of course it is, but I'm referring to the media attention, like the Beatles, the Doors, and others. Sometimes they seem a bit forgotten...it's just a feeling I get.
Rotten Well, that was a fluke to be sure, given the history of the RRHF. As i understand it, they were even less popular in the UK than in America, which is where they sold the most records. And yes, they did influence a lot of musicians in their time, though that is largely unnoticed.
I don't know either but in the Sixties they were popular but didn't really have a smash hit that got them touring the world. But they did turn up the odd great guitarist, like a guy called Clapton !
He does look young yet his music is timeless. Ive listened to the Animals since I was 10 yrs old. When I watched the bio about Eric I found his story fascinating...Happy Birthday 😢
For your love is a great song by The Yardbirds! I've said it before and I will say it again "If you got to grow up anywhere in the 50's through the 90's with all of the golden classic movies, music, and concerts, YOU were blessed!"
Sounds like a pretty simple ditty stacked up against even the LEAST complex Hendrix composition though. Then again, Jimi also made Eric Clapton look like a beginner, so.....
The yardbirds inspired me to become a bass player and to listen to Rock and as a result to that I started my first music group, and so maybe a little late but I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart I’ll always Love you guys.
Unforgettable moments... wonderful times, the sixties and seventies... quality music... times when everything was much more relaxed. Big contrast to today's society. The Yardbirds... pure youth sentiment...! R.I.P. Jeff Beck...!
I was in "high school" in England when this song was released. At my boarding school, we listened to Radio Caroline-a pop non-BBC "pirate" station (anchored a few miles out beyond the jurisdiction of England. A lot of great tunes came out mid-sixties.
Very unusual in those days (early to mid 60s) for a band to play live on TV instead of using dubbing. TV stations never wanted to take the risk, and the band's management wanted them to sound exactly like the single so they could promote it (the drummer took some creative liberties here), which was the main purpose of these TV appearances. So this is refreshing! Thank you, Wolffishfish, for uploading this find!
When this show was made, the Yardbirds were still managed by Giorgio Gomelsky, who owned the blues club where they had quickly achieved stardom. Gomelsky knew and appreciated the electricity of their live performances. And he was a blues freak.
Tina Braxton Thank you, Tina. That's a great bit of history. And Giorgio Gomelsky sounds like a refreshing character. I would have loved to have seen the Yardbirds live in person in those days. I was on the wrong continent and far too young!
I also didn't get to see them live, for the same reasons. And I don't necessarily mean to praise Gomelsky. But his interest in the artistic merits of his clients was certainly a plus, at a time when most managers had dollar signs for eyeballs and straw for brains.
You had to be alive when For Your Love and Heart Full of Soul climbed the charts. I'm looking hard at 70, and even now when I hear this song I re-experienced the emotions I felt as a kid.
Me too,Wow im 76 today ,,,Thats of no matter ,,the fact being this classic still gives me cold chills every time i hear it ,,,, i too feel so young at heart ,,,long live the 60s era
Recently, the lyrics "Come tomorrow we'll all be older" was stuck in my brain and I had to hear the song and recall the the band that did it. Of course it was the Yardbirds. They were fantastic. Still love their music after all these years and I'm 77.
Jeff Beck died from meningitis never take life for granted that's for sure rest in peace our dear friend thank you for all the great Tunes Jeff my condolences to the Beck family
Their 1965 album "Having a Rave Up" is a classic with "Smokestack Lightning", "I'm a Man", "Heart Full of Soul", "You're a Better Man Than I", "The Train Kept A-Rollin'", "Shapes of Things", and "Over Under Sideways Down"
Jeff Beck, one of the greatest guitarists of all time, died yesterday, 10-02-2023 at the age of 78, after contracting bacterial meningitis. He was best known for joining the English rock band The Yardbirds in the 1960s.
@@patriciamays8244 just had a bacteria infection. you have two/three days to diagnose it and often your vital signs will be normal...until they're not.
Super cool band. The late lead singer Keith Relf sporting those shades on stage was a great idea! RIP Keith Relf! Jeff Beck always an incredible guitar player. Paul Samwell-Smith put his base playing down becoming a record producer for Cat Stevens and Carly Simon and many others.
I love these guys. I was only 10 in 65, but I loved all this music, all these bands I grew up with. It was great to live in this particular era of music. ROCK ON
Talented guy....and seems always to have been focused. Page just went nuts into witchcraft and Clapton did not really find his humanity until after his son's tragic accident... But Beck always seemed more together. Its a gift, too, perhaps.
One of those catchy songs of the sixties that are still good to hear fifty years later. This song was so popular then I used to hear in on the radios almost everywhere I went in those days. Good to hear.
I confess that I only know of the existence of this bewitching oldies classic For Your Love by the Yardbirds because of remembering hearing this multiple/several years ago by the time I was a teenager (my late adoptive father enjoyed hearing similar music genres on the radio similar to this song), I'm so glad that this phenomenal live version classic is also available to listen to online.
The man had a name--he was the great Keith Relf who died in a tragic accident by electrocution while playing his guitar in his basement home studio. He was only 33.
Mr. Beck, we are from two different worlds but your talent intertwined are worlds. This is an incredible loss! Take flight with ease 🕊🕊🕊 My condolences to your family and friends.
I was 13 when this came out. Music on the radio was so awesome and groovy. Yeah I used that word. Itt was cool back then. As the yardbirds were cool and rock was exciting and cool.
This great classic song brings back many fond memories of my youth. My generation grew up with the best Rock and Roll music that was ever played. 😃Rest in peace Jeff Beck. 😢
Always enjoy hearing the Yardbirds. Keith Relf unfortunately left us too soon. RIP Keith and thanks for forming the Yardbirds. Sweet memories of the 60s music makes wonderful company anytime!
Jorge i agree with you its lovely when a 60s song catches the memories of days gone by ,, I hope your past life was happy ? mine was with out a doubt lol x
Revisiting this, after commenting 8 years ago. This still gives me goosebumps!! One of my favourite songs as a kid in the '60s. 10 million views of this video. Quality never dies.
I love this one and heart full of soul because of the way Jeff Beck incorporated his Spanish guitar styles. Really made the Yardbirds stand out to me compared to other bands at the time - and even today.
Jeff Beck. - For Your ❤ Love This was a personal favourite of mine back in the 1960’s. Also, another favourite of mine was : Hi, Ho, Silver Lining. It was a tradition at Clubs to play this song to ‘Warm the Audience Up’ and boy did it !!! (I know all the words …. ) After listening to all my favourites from Jeff and the boys, it’s with a sad heart ❤and a tear 😢in my eye that I pay a massive tribute to his talent at playing his guitar 🎸 with mastery. It was a pleasure listening to your music/songs. We’ll never forget a genius such as you. ….. Aggh
wow this is the first actual live version of For Your Love I've seen as opposed to the lipsyncs for TV that were so common at the time. fantastic instrumentation and snappy performance.
