This is 3 icons playing together and having fun. They are coming in hot 🔥. They are all 3 guitar playing legends. This is definitely a priceless experience 🎉🎉
I know. I’m grateful for him everyday. He did the hard shit and managed to survive and thrive. He is one of the lucky ones. I honestly wonder how he did it. We’ve lost too many to drugs.
I saw Jeff Beck walking out of radio station in Manhattan bye himself,I walked over to him nice and mello and said I was a big fan can I have a autograph he said NO! and kept on walking. It was in mid 80's.As he kept on walking I yelled to him JIMMY'S better
Gregg Mackie, than you had the one of the greatest time of your life to be that lucky. Like many others I consider "Layla" to be a masterpiece. In March of this year I found a guy who plays the piano marvelously so I subscribed to his channel. For a couple of hours ago, he shared a video where he plays... "Layla". I hope you will enjoy it too. Have a marvelous week ahead. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-suq2HW4wdUA.html&start_radio=1
Clapton litterally just makes it up on the spot the solo it’s different every time like he said the guitar is his voice it’s sings for him it’s so crazy how good that man is
@@rockygraziano2339 Ray Cooper, also a lot of footage of him during Clapton's Royal Albert Hall concerts in the 1990s. More Cooper action 5:44 5:59 6:20
I was there. ARMS concert LA Forum 1983. Probably the best concert l ever saw. Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton each played a set, then they all played together.

I am probably in the minority..people don't come for me..I don't like the piano coda that much. You go from all this great guitar playing into piano, it sounds like a different song. But, Layla is my favorite song. I love you eric❤.
Ingens_Scherz, thank you for this precious info. Here's an instrumental jazzy version of "Layla" that you might like. Have a great week ahead. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-suq2HW4wdUA.html
I agree. He started out a guitar player and really worked at singing and became great at it. A great blues singer and doesn’t get nearly enough credit for it.
Beautifully sweet moment when Jimmy runs over and pats Eric on the shoulder in the middle of his signature song. Jimmy was wasted, for sure, but Eric and Jeff were trying to help him in recovery, both having had severe drug problems they overcame. Loved all three since the '60s. RIP, Jeff. 💕💕💕
Yeah I saw that, but I thought Jimmy was already sober by then,?? what year was this?, it's a bunch of s*** when nobody post any dates or history on these videos.!! 🎶🎸🐦
Man,watching Jimmy from 80 to 85 is really difficult...He was at his worst around this time...Severe heroin addiction, losing his dear friend Bonzo and disbanding of Zeppelin...Difficult times! In all of his ARMS concert footage he seems like he's trying to get lost in music...in an interview he said he didn't pick up a guitar for 18 months after Bonzo because he was too scared, and when he did he couldn't even change chords properly. So yeah,he's definitely struggling here, but it is part of his ups and downs as a musician, and we all know he is a damn extraordinary one!I'm really happy he got better after that time and found himself again. That's one of the reasons I love him so much! You Rock Jimmy, always and forever!😍
Priceless music and performance. Music in 2021 sucks! Where are the next generation of musicians to carry this torch? Or, maybe the originals were so great there will never be anyone capable of taking the music and expanding it. Miss those great years. Peace be upon Grinch!
I think you're right about music being so great that it can't be touched now. There is no emotion in music anymore. People now are worried more about fame than thier music. These guys truly loved making music, fame was secondary.
If I were fortunate enough to have attended this concert I wouldn't need to go to any other concert. The greats are all there! Magnificent!!!!!. I wish I had Jimmy Page's gorgeous hair😂😊❤.
An iconic song Clapton wrote when he was consumed with love for Patti Boyd. Truly loving someone so much it's never ending, but you two never can get permanently together, so it just keeps twisting your heart out. Month's, to year's, to decades, but it never goes away. It just keeps twisting. Crazy thing called love.
I like how Jeff Beck just looks all around, seeing who looks high,he's very in tune with everything that's happening on stage,he isn't missing a trick, lol.
I knew who Jeff Beck was in the late 1960s, but didn't notice him much until about two weeks ago. He's a beast, but the most striking thing to me is that he looks like he's aged about 15 years since he played with the Yardbirds and most of the musicians from that era (who are still alive) look old enough to to be at least his father. He must have a self-portrait in his attic that looks like ABSOLUTE DEATH!
😢 This is too hard to believe.. Jeff Beck, my Jeff just passed away and there is a huge hole in the music world.. Rest in The Eternal Light 🕯 I will love and respect you Forever, as long as I live😢
I'm 65 yo meloman.Seem's to me I'm dreaming!Music from the Univers! Each musician on the stage-master of his instrument! But three of them-outstanding musicians!Bravo!👻☮️
Strangely, he didn't; in a 2010 interview he did for Mojo magazine to publicize his 18th studio album, Clapton, he said to the interviewers that he always disliked his singing voice since it was like that of a 16-year-old boy in Surbiton, while in actuality he was trying his best to imitate Ray Charles, saying that "Papa Ray" does it the way it needs to be done. Clapton prefers to be remembered for his guitar playing, which can never be denied.
I love the Derek and the Dominos on Johnny Cash and there's great video on RU-vid of Eric with this keyboard is Bobby singing Harmony Carlon base and of course Jim Gordon on drums and then Carl Perkins comes out with Johnny Cash and all three of them sing back by the Dominos
Anyone notice how good they were with Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman providing the perfect beat to this wonderful tune. That made the collection of these musicians really shine
I was here 12/08/83 fourth row directly in front of Clapton. Next to Zeppelin in 1977 this was THE most awesome concert I have ever seen. Ray Cooper was a gas to watch all night. You could tell he was having the time of his life!
The Greatest Band of all time is right there. The greatest then , now, future! You will never see any thing greater than what is standing on that stage.
I actually attended this concert. It is a star in the firmament of my memory! A really brilliant concert with more well-known talented musicians than I can list off the top of my head, but I still have the program, if you need to know, than I suppose I could look it up. I was seated on the left hand side, quite close to the players, but a bit behind the stage, unusually & the acoustics were excellent. For me the trio of lead guitarists Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton & Jeff Beck were the most delightful thing, because I owned then (still do) a rare cassette of the three of them playing without any vocals etc., that I'd been listening to & that made it super to see them, live! It was a charity event, actually for Ronnie Lane & MS, as I recall.
Me too...both nights, back to.back. I can't believe it's been just over 39 years. It was amazing (but somewhat sad) when Jimmy took the Stage solo to play Stairway... Halfway thru, Clapton and Beck came out to basically "save" him. Jimmy had been so devastated by Bonzos loss he didn't touch a guitar for over a year. Still one of the best Concerts I've had the pleasure of seeing ✌️
Exceptional guitarist! However, his head is way in the outfield and he's rocking and his body is jittering. Can't be a caffeine high. Wonder if Beck tasted the candy. Glad I'm not those dudes.
It's kinda funny to watch these three guitarists together. They all grew up in the same place (Hell, Page and Beck were friends from their teenage years), they played similar styles of music, and all started in the same band. Yet they all act completely different on stage. Eric is focused on singing, as well as playing, and is relaxed, Jeff is rigid and almost unmoving aside from his hands and swaying, and Jimmy is an animal, getting his whole body into it. And they'll all amazing.
In every video I've seen of Jimmy Page, he's always "dancing" while playing the guitar, all the way back when he was 13 years old since the "Christian and the Crusaders" band back in 1957,
Well thank you kindly, have been listening to music like this since the 60s and with everyone getting together and playing like this just blows the mind xx
Jimmy Page playing the slide for Duane Allman part is the most classic. Not to mention Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page & Eric Clapton all together again since the Yardbirds.
Well, the three weren't in the band at the same time. But name me any other 60's band that had 3 guitarists of that caliber in the band at any time. And hell, Page and Beck were in the 'Birds together. Wish I'd been there to see that.
I had always assumed that was Duane playing the slide, but I have since heard that possibly not, that they switched roles for that song. Is that possible?
I literally got goosebumps all over when they switched to the 2nd half with the piano! I was 11 when I first heard it and called up the DJ and they said it was called Layla! Damn all the current newbies can’t hold a candle to all the greats and legends that sprang up in the 60’s and 70’s. ♥️♥️🩷🔥🔥♥️🍷🍷🍷
When Page played a Yardbirds song to Beck he was blown away. When Clapton left Page was offered the job, he turned it down and recommended Beck. He joined Beck later playing bass but he switch to 2nd lead and then took over for Beck. Page claims Beck is the best and Clapton has always been in awe of the sounds Jeff gets from his guitar.
Ash Winder yeah. if not for the rocking with the greatest rock band of all time, pagecwould be nothing. I guess Lennon was shit without the Beatles too. lol. what the fuck you talking about?
3 of the best rock guitarists ever. I had a chance to see all three of them in person in the 60s but not together: Eric with Blindfaith, Jeff with Jeff Beck Group and Page with Zeppelin. RIP Jeff.
Eric Clapton was 100% totally clean of drugs and booze during the entire ARMS tour. The ARMS tour was Clapton's first major return to the stage after his treatment for alcoholism at Hazelton in 1980 during the "Another Ticket" tour. However, during the sessions for his next studio album that followed the ARMS tour, "Behind The Sun" (which he recorded with Phil Collins), he relapsed and ended up fathering a child with the studio manager out of wedlock. But during this tour, he was clean as can be folks. Read his autobiography. He is not one to B.S. people. Jimmy on the other hand.....see my previous post.
Two phenomenal nights in December of 83. Both nights were just incredible. But it really was SO hard watching Jimmy. He was a wreck at this point, and understandably so. Bonzos loss crushed all of us, him especially, and he was so deep into the Smack he could barely function. Still tho, two nights I'll never forget. ✌️
They always did. I guess it was part of their "coolness". There are a few early videos where I have seen Charlie smile, but not Bill. He was as dull as dull could be.
I was front and centre for this after queuing all night for tickets next to a guy who could`nt stop breaking wind, but it was so worth it. They almost had to almost carry Ronnie Lane onto the stage and he sang " Goodnight Irene". There was`nt a dry eye in the house. Thanks for bringing back the memories
Thank You for this video here What A Motley Crew Here, Bill Wyman, on Bass, A Sneek Peek @ Joe Cocker on Tambourine, Ect. But what blew me away was, How Good Page was on the Duane Allman Slide Parts, WOW, that was awesome, Something like this should be shown on a TV Commercial, Instead of the B.S. ones that they show, Cousin Figel
Since this was likely an "All-Star" event, with a final onstage Jam for all, I suppose that it's possible that the drummer (who I didn't recognize) was not incredibly familiar with the song (at least not the last part). Although I am a musician and can (if I "scrape" all of the dust off!) remember the particular terms, this one I can't. What I CAN say is the drum part at the end needed the snare to be "double-timed" as opposed to the part he played - snare lick twice as often as he played it. I felt that it made that part drag a bit instead of pushing it, and did not lend itself to some of the dynamic aspects that needed to be there. Also, not knowing why the mix was the way it was, both Beck's and Page's leads were mostly inaudible.
That is an EXCELLENT POINT, urankjj... God bless you. I mean it. I hope all of these guys make it to Heaven. I have my doubts about Jimmy Page. I hope he is out of that occult stuff.
During a Paul McCartney concert in Brazil a ten year old girl was on stage with him she asked if she could play bass with him he let her do it he asked her "What is your name?" She replied "LAYLA"😅😅
@@davidcudlip6587 he was definietly under the effects of heroin during this show. It's still funny that everyone is normally playing the guitar, and then there's Page...
@@bradford_shaun_murray Could be he was already tired of the rock and roll lifestyle. Kudos to him for stepping down when it was no longer fun for him.
was at this perf 10 December 1983 Ronnie Laine Appeal for MS,got in for free, best concert ever attended, near the stage,Charlie Watts,Ron Wood,Bill Wyman,Joe Cocker, this ended the show
Fantastic iconic rock legends playing Eric Clapton's classic Layla and and Eric Clapton too rip to the late great Jeff Beck Charlie watts it seems like they all where have having a great time up the irons!! Maiden.manic🎼✨✨🌟🤘🎶🎶🇬🇧
@@johngibbs9505 Duane came up with the slide piece and Tom produced.I don't know who got writing credits but it sounds as if it was very much a group effort.
And thanks to Rita Coolidge and Brooker T. Jones who wrote "TIME", from which the layla coda got some influence from ;) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BwJgWqLTeCw.html Rita was the girlfriend of Jim Gordon, group member of Derek and the Dominos. She wanted Eric/Jim to have a listen to "Time", and they ripped it off :)
No, actually it was to help Ronnie Lane with his medical bills. He was terminal with MS. By the time I saw him at Irvine Meadows he had to play guitar seated, he was so ill. 💔
Need another big NYC concert the day COVID-19 is gone for good. I’ll even donate to make it happen. One last one while we still have these guys with us.
Because some of them are not alive anymore, at least Joe Cocker is dead, Eric is 71, Jeff is 72, Bill Wyman is 79, Jimmy is also 72 and the one that bangs the tambourine like a maniac is Ray Cooper, 74. Today these guys would look like an Old Age Home residents on steroids and on millions. Don't forget this concert was in 1983, that's 33 yrs. ago!
+Purrete I was at the San Francisco show was dubbed Ronnie Lanes Appeal For A.R.M.S Benefit Concert an unforgettable night! I was firing up the best tree during the show was crazy Jimmy Page playing Stairway on his double neck🤘
don't know man, Eric and Jeff are still great! Although jimmy hasn't been active a lot, but he still knows how to play. seeing Ray's energie i believe he would even be able to rock it when he'd be pushing up daisies. wyman and cocker (rip) I agree with though!
