Did anyone else notice the dedication of Jonny in making this video? He drove a solid 400 miles to Bywell just to grab a few minutes of footage. This is the kind of professionalism that you won’t find anywhere else.

I own three P guns and at 68 I do not shoot competition anymore. I find myself shooting the 20 bore now more often. A 20 can do anything most 12's can. I had my 20 P gun restocked more like a field gun , but with 31 1/2" barrels it is still heavy. Here in the U.S. this would be a delight on doves!

Surely you have missed out a group of people it would appeal to. There must be lots of old boys out there who's bodies are not really up to taking a pounding from shooting a heavy 12 but don't want it to be too obvious so this might be spot on for them, sadly my body wouldn't let me even shoot a 20, but it has made me think about it.

Yildiz are really upping their game with their propper guns, the 12 is best bang for dollar out there imo

good vid as always...i would love to see a test where at the clay ground you were hooded, handed a gun and mounted it blind and then hood off shoot it. You don't know brand or anything and give an honest appraisal of how it felt! Shoot ten without seeing the gun except down the barrel. Would be interesting indeed!

With the bottom end of these guns around $4000 and me being unaware of anywhere in the U.S. I can get them repaired with any ease at all, my interest in them wanes considerably. When you can pick up mint condition Beretta Silver Pigeons and Browning Citori competition guns for half that price, it makes for a tough market for Yildiz here in the states. I work a lot of sporting clays tournaments in the Houston area and I've never personally seen one.

Jonny ,Could you please do a review of the trigger and inside the 20? I currently own two 12ga black pro guns and like them both very much!! Do you think Yildiz will make a black pro in 28ga and 410?

I want you to critique a 20 gauge Strum Ruger Red Label, not made now. Yes I have one but I have never saw or heard a shooter talk about it. Thank you.

it’s a do it all gun for someone who wants a all rounder it’s a shame they haven’t offered the adjustment trap stock on this gun yet in a 32inch i’d have one tomorrow if they did !

Thank you for an interesting review. Unfortunately at 3,5 kg this gun is way too heavy for me. I could aswell use a 12 bore of same weight. I would rather have a 20 bore somewhere around 3,1 kg or less. Do you know if Yildiz has any plans of making a lighter game version? At least the 12 bore seems to come in different versions of different weight.

Question for you. I’m a gunsmith and sporting clays shooter here in the US. I’ve been thinking about investing in the Yildiz ProStar but I’ve seen SO MANY failed firing pins on Turkish made guns I’m a little shy of making a Yildiz purchase. Have you seen any firing pin issues on the higher end Yildiz.?

A 30 inch 20 gauge should weight 7 plus lbs.. This sounds like a better option then some of the other Turkish made guns.This is a affordable gun to. The side by sides are nice looking guns. But don’t spend more then 1 grand . Lots of great used Berettas or Brownings which are far superior.

Interesting niche gun and well crafted. Not sure how the 1850 price (GBP) stacks up against competing brands. It is good to see the Turkish gun makers raising their game.

Yildiz have cloned Perazzi Jonny as you know.Perazzi 20's are usually around 71/2 lbs in the old scale and brilliant to shoot driven game with.Against the price of a new or used Perazzi the Yildiz is seriously good value.

I am left handed with a pacemaker fitted on my left side been recommended to shoot 20 bore with light loads this gun would suit me being 6ft 1 17 stone bigger heavier 20 bore but with less kick than a 12g
@tgsoutdoors

Not a bad choice for the money, that extra weight will certainly reduce recoil.

How does it compare to a CG 20 bore Summit Sporting? Or a Browning 525 20 gauge? Would be an interesting comparison.
@tgsoutdoors
@tgsoutdoors 3 года назад
A lot more midweight than a CG - the 20’s I have shot from them are always a touch front heavy, which isn’t a bad thing. The 525 range is very varied but is perhaps more comparable to this in balance and movement

very fair & thorough review. thank a lot. but pls don’t keep telling for Turkish guns such as suits to bottom end of the market. it is the pure reason so the most can reach easily. otherwise one has to pay 10K plus. the gun you are handling can easily be sold for 10K and above if it was produced by a so called known brand. so judge the gun according to its performance and its build quality not who produced it. love Turkish techs a lot. Happy & safe shootings… 👍

Nice to hear the the chest infection is over. Try sweating and sit near a window on a windy day. Turkish guns are starting to increase both quality and price. Is India or China the new Turkey in matter value-for-money?

That is a good question!
@pickin4you

Why do the Brits call them 12 bore and 20 bore when that’s no where near the size of the actual bore. A .20 GUAGE has an average bore inside diameter of .624”. As you see, nowhere NEAR 20. The bore is not 20 so why in the heck do you call it the bore size when it’s the GUAGE?
@tgsoutdoors

I have asked wiser men than i that same question Probably because the 🇺🇸 call it gauge and we just wanted to be different.
