Adrian Gomez Nothing wrong with China or Thailand, but DM's should be made in Northampton the same way swiss army knives are made in Switzerland, its sad that an increasing number of once unique products are being churned out of the same industrial conurbations .
One thing l love about the young ones is that they didn’t try to cash in an make more episodes after its become a cult following. The difference between American and English tv is that English shows pack more into each episode because there seasons are short. While American shows have to spread out the story over 20 something episodes.
"You'd think Devil Woman" had never been written?-Rik.Don't you love how he brings up songs that have nothing to do with fighting social injustice, all for his Cliff Richard fandom? :D
Had they not driven off of that...urgh, I hate to make the pun... _cliff_ in the last episode, Rik would likely be working some low-level office job for the Conservative party now. Mike would manage a game room/slot machine hall, Vyv would be either a PA, male nurse or full-blown physician and Neil...would be Neil.
I knew Id heard a song about the boots and had to look it up. Had to be these maniacs 😂 love this show to pieces. hadnt watched for years and bought the DVD recently. watching it this week for sure
Well he'd better be good this Norman Tebbitt. I doubt poor Norman realised this would be the reason anyone remember him at all. Poor bastard. Oh and Doc Martens never retailed for nineteen quid in Australia. It was more like ten times this
Well, pounds are worth 2x dollars roughly, so we are already looking at forty 1983 Australian dollars. It still sounds too cheap though, although $400 is an exaggeration.
So, twenty pounds? Well, when I was a kid a pound was a few dollars, right? And those dollars (good twenty cent dollars!) would probably be five dollars now, maybe more. So??? A few hundred 2020 dollars, roughly? These boots might be CHEAPER now, in real terms!
Got high for one of the first times as a teen and watched this. Totally lost it laughing but there were parents upstairs..... woke up sore the next morning....
These days I live in Docs, and every time I acquire a nice pair of them online (strictly Made In England, mate) I feel compelled to play this here upload. As it happens, my most recent pair are 5-eyelet 7751's, which may indeed be what Alexi's wearing. Docs which don't have the yellow stitching, in any case.
I've watched this show so many times, my favorite parts are when Alexi roars in and throws everything into confusion. I like the way he yells, I guess.
Small batches of Docs are still made at the UK factory. Available in the US but 300 bucks a pair ( yeah, i bought a pair of ruboff chelsea boots, personally i think theyre worth as it as theyll last a long time )
A David Bowie song reference in ”I BELIEVE” the middle of it ”dancing in the 😂streets”, God i loved this series, brilliant. I believe i’m trying to squeeze in but the iPhone refuses too. Still, THE YOUNG ONES! 🎉❤
I'm sitting here, not liking the song like when i was a kid, 40 years later, thinking "british handmade dr martens boots, 19.99? Someone has been lying about inflation."
Jamie Rose You clearly don't get it. People had a great self-distance - even in regards to supposedly noble beliefs. Today it has become some crusade against anything remotely juste because everybody takes everything very seriously indeed. Guess what the reactionary stiffs who mock social justice were equally mocked but at the time it was mostly older people.
It's always something to be mocked and parodied. It's just more pathetic that they're so lacking in logic (and to them feelings matter more than facts) that they have no sense of humour -everything is offensive and racist/sexist/ist/ist/... Even though they're primarily the cause of the offensive and the bigotry.
I've had this on my mp3 player for YEARS and it never gets old. I have the lyrics but there's one thing that I can't quite get - the bit where he says ".. they're classless matchless ageless and waterproof and retail for only 19 pounds and 99p.." OK every lyric I can find reckons "ageless" but unless it's his accent, I can't hear that? Anyone out there got an insight? All I can hear is "heef-a-jiss" hahaha I just can't get that one word D:
The band have no bloody clue what is going on hahahaha History is what is happening, fellas, though no-one could have know it back then. 20 quid, the cost of the boots, was a small fortune 37 years ago, btw
