Thanks for having me on, watching it again, couldn’t even remember half the things we spoke about. Had sooo much fun on this, the gents are hilarious and class acts. UP THE FOZCAST 👏🏿
Doc you mention the problem with heading? Not everyone gets a concussion or ramifications. Wouldn’t you make a similar example being slide tackling and the risk for injuries? I obviously don’t know the data on concussions and the dementia side of it but isn’t slide tackling a risk as well. And probably other things like keepers punching the ball in set pieces. Like there’s a bunch of health risks in football and I’m not sure how you’d prioritize the importance of one or the other or do much about these risk factors. That’s just my take on it.
@@Hwella555 Jesus mate do you want football to be totally non contact on what. you could fall down the stairs tomorrow. injuries are part and parcel of football
@@TORRES999ify that’s exactly my point. If we look at every risk factor, we’ll find risk factors in everything. So why are we focusing on something like concussions from heading when you can similarly look at other things that are harmful too…that’s my point man: if the risk factors are low then leave it as is
@@JJSAX_ ?? It's a huge injury that very rarely happens in the top European leagues and it's already blown up (ie trending on socials) and I was hot headed at the time, stop being a prick just because you don't like me speaking about my team. You don't have to read the comment
I know this is obvious because he is a Doctor but this guy is so intelligent and gives such good insight. I'm 20 min in and subbed to his channel already 😅
Enjoyed this so much, the insight of the medical side of football was fascinating. Would love to hear similar from other professionals in football, coach, scout ref etc ....
I saw the headline for this video and didn’t think it would interest me but scrolling through RU-vid I thought I’d give it ago. How wrong was I, really enjoyed the video and didn’t want it to finish! Smashing work by all ❤️
Such a good episode gentlemen! Great to understand what the hardworking people behind the glamour of football go through and deal with. Makes me want to work hard too, listening to this. Also makes a fan understand that some issues need to be given a better look at to protect the players and their futures.
As a doctor and a massive football fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this. Such a great insight into the medical side of the game. Definitely envy your job mate 😅
Absolutely brilliant really getting into these podcasts! Keep doing what you’re doing Ben mate! The bit at the beginning about a snag in transfers with medicals just reminded me of Nabil fakir was meant to come to Liverpool but there was an issue with his knee 😞
49.49 where bens groupie says the first person to score a goal after project restart was called corona. that's the stupid type of thing this fella comes out with. please Ben get rid of him because we speak about your podcast at my football.club and we all agree he is spoiling your podcasts with his silly stats and comments. just blagging it as he goes along you can tell
Hi Guys, I listen to you from the Czech Republic and I must say for a football fan I love it. Keep listen to you for hour and can’t wait what is next comming episode is just very dificuilt for super TV and radion people to keep interest but you do it all naturally. Absolutely fantastic.
Get Nathan Redmond on, or Demari Gray but I also Reckon Jobe Bellingham would be good Trust me about his early ages and all the recent stuff GET JOBE ON
Again great interview and insight what happens with players transfers and medicals, I’m watching week in week out and can’t wait for the next one.. Big big fan keep it going, I would like you to have a chat with a premier league grounds man for a week build up to Saturdays kick off, How much work goes in for pre season to get the pitch ready and so on… UP the FOZCAST 👍👏
Have a look at the AFL (Aussie rules football) lads. Concussion protocols have docs reviewing footage then completing an assessment in the rooms before letting them play or dragging from game. If concussed they miss the following week as well. Top work lads. Really enjoyed that chat.
Miss you Fozzy! You will always be a complete legend at the Hawthorns! I remember singing "sign him up, sign him up!" In your first season on loan 👍 your youtube channels are so brilliant! Keep going mate 😁
Great to hear about the inner workings of the medical side of football. I also have a question Ben, As a goalkeeper yourself, does it piss you off when the media completely overshadow what you have done in a game, IE Chelsea villa 3-0 Mendy played an absolute blinder and there’s barely any praise for him when he kept Chelsea in the game completely?
Absolutely loved this episode, late start on the channel but working my way through these now and have to say, this is my favourite episode by far! Doc smashed it with his stories and you guys as always just made it feel like I was listening in to a chat between friends... Keep it up, entertaining me no end. Thanks
Another smashing upload Ben! Love the Doc! Such a great guy. Brilliant stuff. Can't wait to see you sat on a million subs before you retire, keep going, love lapping up this content!
Do you know Ben Foster? Me in the past : yeah, a back up keeper in a some mid table team 🤔 Me now: yeah, of course! He's a legend on RU-vid mate 😎 Enjoying your channel mate!!
to he fair I don't think Ben has been a back up keeper. maybe at utd he was but at Birmingham. West Brom and Watford up until the last 12 months he has always been a number 1
Honestly the best episode so far such an amazing talk and so interesting topics you wouldnt even think about just sucks you right in and you get hooked like you wouldnt even know
Most interesting fozcast so far 👍 Seemed to be more adverts than previous episodes but can't complain with such great free content, keep up the great work 👍
nice content Ben ! really love to hear more about football from other perspectives, maybe groundsmen, scouts, refs, physios, and the bad boy bus driver next on the podcast !!
What a brilliand podcast.. Very interesting info from " Doc " . I thought all doctors, private, hospital doctors or doctors that works for football clubs, have an obligation to protect " lives " = players and have their interest as a priority, even though the manager, owners, board and so on, have a different agenda, maybe financial.. So i would like to know if as a football doc the hippocratic oath is the same, or different when it comes to being a doc at a football club..
It’s the same tbf, the patients are the players but gotta do right by them. Luckily in modern football most coaches and clubs understand this and we can work together well
Can someone tell me. we've got Ben . we've got the guests but who is the blonde guy. what's his story . basically he is Ben's friend so he's on these podcasts aswell. I honestly think these would be better if ben was on his own or got another footballer as a host too. the blonde guy has not played the game. he ain't ksi or sum famous RU-vidr. he is bens mate ? jobs for the boys lol he comes across as clueless when it comes to football and his voice is irrating when he jumps in all the time. we want to hear ben and the guests not this other irratant
Nah c’mon he’s good, and he actually needs to be there. He’s one of his best pals and if you notice sometimes he bring up stories that probably Ben forgot and from there an interesting convo will start.
@@Nas-sg3yr well each to their own mate but id much rather if he wasn't personally. he hasn't been in the game so basically he on here coz he is bens mate. I'd much rather it was another footballer if it is a 2 man job but I think Ben has enough charisma and character do it by himself
Ye he's Ben's long term mate before he signed for United, His football knowledge isn't the best it'd be the cycling or Rugby where he'd be best not more the football
@@calvinrogers5100 no his football knowledge is poor. aint seen him talk about cycling as I don't watch these for the cycling. I just find it annoying when he jumps in . and if u watch him if he says something he always looks to ben for his reaction. as if he needs reassurance. I think it be better if he was behind the camera . making teas or cleaning up after the podcast is over
He's part of the brand of Cycling GK. It's not Ben who dies everything. There's 2 main guys with Ben. They actually have a chat in the studio before pod cast started so you can get some background there. Having 3 is more relaxing, it's good for Ben not to take the whole onus as one on one can be an interview, this is a chat, chill and free flowing. He contributes massively and I dare say does lots that Ben can't do (research, the venue work - planning basically). Watching Sky Sports, you don't get ex sportsmen everywhere, there's media professionals everywhere in front of the camera. This has that off-professional feel - not like it's on TV with an auto-cue and pieces in ears
