Increasing the pack size to 9 to charge people extra money for additional bulk is just such a TCG konami move. This set solving the problem of the alternate arts only being available in the gross premium gold rare on the TCG side is really the only nice thing I can say about it.
As a super casual, I am pretty happy about the set. There are a lot of fun cards that have been out of the range of casuals for a while. Even still, for sure singles are the way to go here
This set lets me get my cheap wraitsoths, and my collectors rare ghost ogres in the alt art. Big upgrade from my common copies, and for that much I am grateful.
Yeahhhh.... Looking at the card list for this set, while there are a few cards I'd like to upgrade my rarity on..... The card pool is disappointing.... Even more so when compared to the 1st one.
@@v1nceifhewenttothesun682 it’s just crazy to me how they printed lower rarities just to ban them completely after the well ran dry with rarity collection 1
as a player who just got back into the tcg last year, a lot of the cards in this set are cards i simply didnt have yet, and as you said, some of them were getting up there in price. so for me, personally, i quite like this set. not to say its better than #1 at all, but i feel like this one was meant specifically for people who got back into the tcg with the 25h rereleases of the old sets and dont have all the staples yet
im super happy to see bingo machine and alternative dragon in this set! i love playing blue eyes casually but the deck struggles, and those 2 cards help a TON but they were 30$CAD each before
RA02 is honestly pretty good. RA01 is a tough act to follow, and there are several cards that felt like they should have been reprinted... but there's lots to like. There are some big-ticket reprints like Apollousa and Accesscode, there are some good reprints that are less ambitious (like Droll and Hope Harbinger), the OCG Platinum rarity is really nice, and RA01 also honestly had its share of whiffs. I'll still be going for singles... but that was probably also the right move for RA01 (and most products for TCGs at large).
People hate on this set, but they're looking at this all wrong. I'm a newer player and these rarity collections are perfect for new comers like me that are looking to pick up some of these old staple cards but in newer shinier versions. So I actually love it. I'm going to get all these cards to help build my decks and have a piece of history now in my binders.
The reason people hate on this set it's not as good for the casuals, ra1 made cards that were like $100 a set $30, unless your a branded, Edison or blue eyes or purely player your not really going to be saving much. A lot of these cards were already reprinted or cheap
This set would be more favourable if they just cut a lot of filler, ie Book of Moon, Twin Twisters, MST, etc. Also, keeping the price down. Collection 1 was just fun to grab a couple packs every now and then. I would be a lot more hesitant to do that with this set, thanks to the filler and the price of a single pack.
That’s strange I think I’ve seen multiple videos where people keep pulling three Droll from a single pack this might be a massive packaging mistake, also might have scammed you out off something good/you want .
This set is not worth it's crazy price tag, $100+ price tag, rather buy staples worth that much.. I'm glad you gave a honest opinion on it, too many youtubers giving highly graded as a set
I'm very happy about the purrely reprints, and I hope that going forward, Konami will be quicker about reprinting core cards they introduce at high rarities. I get that printing core cards at Ultra rare/Secret Rare quality make Konami money, but having to wait a full year for an archetype to not cost 1K$ to build a deck for is just insane. 6 months would give ample time to move the set where those get first printed, while also giving the less money fortunate crowd a chance to play those archetypes before they become obsolete. No S:P reprint is criminal tho, seeing how almost every single deck will want to splash one in their Extra Deck. My only guess is that they want S:P to be the selling point of the Tin in September, but people buy tins all the time if only for the cool box they come with.
So I commented this on the last pod episode yall did. I won't be picking this up but thats also because I'm on a limited budget. I'm wanting to modernize into the more recent game types but im missing a lot of staple cards. Like Ash, Crossout, Imperm, and more. So if I save up and get a box of anything, it'll be a box of RC1 from TCGPlayer. I buy single packs from my lgs to help support them. They have Amazing Defenders and so I've been picking that up. Looking for my Rescue-Ace cards! The only thing I might buy some RC2 for is the planets as I'd like to build Mannadium/scareclaw in physical cards not just master duel.
Crazy how so many channels opt for clickbaiting and sucking on konami rather than calling them out on obviously playing it safe, inflating prices, and all in all being konami
Yeah its a lot of just alright cards and not really many A1, top tier, you need these cards. Like looking at my competitive decks I play right now. Voiceless Voice uses 2 cards from this set. (Garura - Droll) Vanquished Souls uses 3 cards from this set. (Anti-Spell - Droll - I:P) Purrely uses 5 (The purrely cards in here - Droll - Crossout) And most of these cards are sort of optional. You don't need to run them. As opposed to Ash, Imperm, Evenly, lightning storm, pot of prosperity, dimensional barrier. If you played an event where you could only use non engine cards from RC01 or RC02. RC01 would obliterate RC02.
@@lastmexicano Little knight was never getting reprinted, its just too new. Thrust on the other hand was one of the few wholey generic staples which would sell the tin, hence why it was never getting reprinted until then either.
$120 for that....and Walmart/Target has them in 3 packs for $29.99...what a disappointing set. A lot of YugiTubers are being nice and pulling their punches about how they really feel about this set so Konami will keep sending them free stuff or w/e, when in reality this set is at best a 4 out of 10. Dragoon, Accesscode, alt arts of certain cards, and the completely unnecessary flex of "oooh look how shiny my MST is" are the selling points they're gonna keep leaning on. Just buy the singles, if possible from your locals if they decide to crack a case or two. The rest of this will be pure bulk and not even trade fodder.
99% sure the angle is RC1 was geared for competitive (hence how good the set was for playing the game competitively) and RC2 is geared more towards casuals and players of older formats with reprints of cards that aren’t in the competitive scene but still pretty expensive or just inaccessible for a good chunk of players (Blue-Eyes Alt and Bingo Machine stick out to me)
The major upset about this set for me is that it’s PAINFULLY mid. It’s not even funny bad or memeable. I would only want like 5 cards from this set and will bet 3 of them are gonna get banned by the end of this year. Some decks may benefit from these reprints, but the set’s not something most of the players should get.
Cool reprints like Dragoon , garura and all. Pulling Qcr droll alt art, poly, twin twisters and Rindbramn the striking dragon (forget spelling, was in first pack I opened ) was fun. All Qcr are more usable cards.
It’s honestly great being in the minority who loves this set!! As a branded and blue-eyes player, I’m eating good!!! Boxes will be cheap and singles even cheaper!!!
I personally think the set is ok. Is it a little more expensive based on the set. You can argue that but if you were Konami you would take advantage of the nostalgia just like they did. It is just smart business. I see what they are doing. I would just buy the singles anyway. No yugioh set is worth opening just for fun. Yugioh cards don’t hold value at all.
To be honest, I wanted a few cards out of this pack. Everything else is just extra bulk. This is box is a just buy singles rating. It is a disappointment so far
This is very funny to me because it shows how awful are expansions here compared to the ocg, rarity collection 2 is everything that is wrong with packages in the tcg, a lot of quantity, not so much quality
I can definitely see how players who've already invested in some of the older "money" cards would be disappointed in this set, but for me I'm very happy to see the Purrely stuff reprinted along with Phantazmay, Guardian Chimera and Garura
Loved this set for a more accessible Purrely and generic good cards like Prosperity, Crossout and Accesscode. Haven’t been able to use them before due to the insanely high prices
Honestly I'm pretty excited about this set. There are quite a few cards I wanted for various decks that sre getting reprints or rarity bumps. I wasn't expecting too much considering most of the big hitters were already in RC1, so this is pretty much as good as I could have hoped for. There aren't as many duds here as people make it out to be, a good chunk of these are either currently relevant to have or have been expensive/difficult to find, which I feel is the point of this set
I play Blue Eyes, so it'll be nice to get those different cards in cool rarities, and most of these cards I don't have at all, so I'll definitely pick up a box or two
It's an okay set. I wish the had Ghost Rare cards. However, I am glad to see the Guardian Chimera and Crystal Wing reprints. Plus Some of these cards look gorgeous as secret rares.
Thanks for this! I think for myself as someone just not getting back into yugioh after 15-20 years, and getting some of my friends back into it, it’s nice to have both this and the prior rarity collection to get my hands on different cards easier than trying to buy them as singles, just because I have such a limited collection at the moment.
As a brazilian player, and budget player, this set is a blessing that shined upon us lol, paying cheap in an accesscode, i:p and apoll is a dream come true
Guess there's one advantage to this set...with so many of the same cards in each back, and the smaller card pool, it's actually possible to get 3 copies of something from pure sealed alone.
going to be real interesting. qcr prices from ra01 are pretty high and that set was mass opened. with this "buy the singles" mentality, i wonder if we will have shortages of the set
So is it just over America that the prices are that high? In EU you can get 24 pack boxes for 130, which comes out at 5,42€ per pack, which seems fine tbh.
Pre-sales for boxes were at $118 last I checked in the US. I think that ridiculous 250 number or whatever was just scalpers before the set actually released publicly
