Im not even kidding when i say this. I have watched this video now 3 times over the last 2 weeks, and just hit Master today with Gief from Gold 1. Literally all thanks to this guide and his season 2 buffs. Thanks!
This guide is really helpful, since everything is clearly demonstrated, all the buttons are explained not only separately, but also how they fit in Zangief's gameplan. I recently hit Master with Cammy and decided to do a complete 180° with Zangief. Before watching any guides, I hopped into Ranked to see how he plays. I was losing A LOT by overly aggressive players and I knew those were things I could easily stop if I knew my buttons. This guide helps tremendously. As you said, the threat of an SPD is way stronger than the SPD itself. People in low Diamond keep jumping out of fear, using DP between strings and on wakeup, leaving themselves for a big punish. Now that I know what to do, I can finally ruin people's days :)
You've always been one of the wiser, more patient Gief players in my eyes. I definitely watched this all just to help provide myself with some extra knowledge as well. Keep up the awesome work!!
The only thing that i missed from the video, was examples. Loved to see some examples from replays or something like this. And corner pressure, how to abuse when you put your enemy on the corner. Other than that, excelent new video, as new Gief player!
You have a good point. I didn't put some cause I have several of those in other videos. However, I feel I could do a few more videos with better examples!
@@SiberianLab Thank you! The feedback is more because im a new SF6 player and i still having some strugles and with some examples would be better to understand some points, and how to put preasure on the corner as well, thanks for replying!
Perfect! Long time i was search a advance guide of zangief, there is only begginers guide and well, there is a lot time ago that im not a begginer with zangief xd
The leg reversal is great against Akuma. Dude's online seem to spam heavy kick heavy kick punch punch like that's his only move. Pretty obvious sometimes when he's gonna do it. As obvious as Ken players doing flaming shoryken on wake up...
I haven't tried since it's so risky due to the other options he has. If they whiff the 5HK and you are crouching, the punish you get is far better than Tundra Storm.
I feel like when you are in Burnout, a lot of players will try to DI you to go for a stun, as some characters (Cammy, Blanka, Guile, for example) have kick based DI you can try to react with a Tundra Storm. Won a couple of rounds thanks to that.
If they combo the DI from very plus buttons or DR, Tundra does not come out due to how slow it is. If Capcom changes the start up to 3 or 2 frames, it would be the immediate response to that situation.
@@SiberianLab Not only that. Maybe one or two hits of armor for non-kick based attacks (including projectiles) would greatly improve the move. In the current state there is absolute no reason to use Tundra Storm over a simple charged heavy punch. ☹️
I only use Russian Suplex when: - At the end of the round, after a DI or a Punisher Counter, just to built meter Or When I have near 2 bars, so I can have reverse options, basically Super Level 2
I don't think it's a bad idea. You have to be careful with your opponent meter, and the damage you get from the throw. I recommend ending the combos with SPD more than Russian Suplex, tbh.
Would you ever do a guide on mirror matches? That is my biggest weakness, it always feel like other zangiefs are thinking outside of the box compared to me.
I have real trouble pressing all 3 P for OD Lariat, so I have it set to L2, and L1 being DI cause HP+HK is rough for me to do consistently. This leaves Drive Rush only available as MP+MK, which I find really hard to put into combos. Hitting MP then MP+MK, then back into MP or whatever is really hard for my thumb to pull off so quickly
@@SiberianLab when there's so much good information, one hour seems short. thanks for this btw, i've watched it 3 times in the last few days and already learned A LOT, this is like my bible now.
32:00 So, its cool and all, but it never works in a real match, at least for me. I play on EU on low master mr. If you ever go cr jab jab into headbut - yeah, lol, you will get mashed out instantly cause it seems like EVERYONE is mashing cr lp. Hell, even getting in range for a cr jab is almost impossible, cause of cr mk dr meta. Tbf, 9/10 when i play someone - they will even mash cr mp/ cr mk on my +4 headbutt. Like at 36:40 you ltierally say "cr jab jab into st mp wOrKs wOnDeRs, but will lose to cr mk". So? What wonders does it work then lmao, EVERYONE's gonna press cr mk there.
