@ its because core sets are just sets with powerplay cards (like Ugin) and thats it. There is no story no overarching thematic. They just bring staples and thats kimda bad.

nah that would actually be cool and make decks playable. i mean technically they ARE playable, but in reality no sane person spends 4-5k $ for a deck. unless you are a pro vintage/legacy player.

Yea, man. When I designed my own Werewolf commander, I came up with a "partner with" pair: a gruul 2-sided packleader that controls werewolf transformations, and a selesnya wolfir cleric who you can dump mana into to give your werewolves hexproof till end of turn or prevent your opponents from casting more than 1 spell per turn till your next turn as long as the commander stays on the field.

Yeah, it's kinda funny how much the community has pushed custom commander ideas for Wolves, and how many of them have been viable ideas in different ways. Meanwhile, WotC gave us Ulrich, who's more of a standalone good card than a commander. The one I ended up concepting was kinda like Ruric Thar, designed to punish your opponents for casting the spells that'd mess with your flips. Not so much that it'd completely shut off the option of them messing up your flips, but enough that it'll hurt to do it. Basically, the front side made a wolf token whenever you played it or flipped to human, and burned your opponent a small bit (like 2) for casting a spell (and therefore stopping your wolves from flipping). The back side gave your werewolves/wolves flash (pushed an ambush idea and let you work around the flip triggers) and burnt your opponent for a decent chunk of damage (like 4-5) if they played two or more spells in one turn.

@@dracomundo1498 Me too! Sadly, I am way more excited about Time Spiral returning early next year than anything else in the video. Vikings and Innistrad are also pretty fantastic. The dual lands in Zendikar really needed to be fetchable to be exciting.

The original feel of Zendikar was indeed about adventure, and the giant Eldrazi was intended as the big twist that all that exploration and questing about was leading up to.

@@tren3220 playing for over 15 years now it was never that bad as it is at the moment. i do unterstand all their affords making money and keep the business running. it is a very old game and there is still lots of room for improvment and so many missed opportunities. unfortunately wotc still held on to stuff that worked over 10 years ago without reinventing but bringing the old stuff back over and over again cuz they can't manage to grow their community on a proper level with new blood but need to keep the whales. this wide spread is the nemesis for new players and if they tend to fuck up modern over and over again noone will come anymore (i have a lot of friends that abandond the game just after the last 2 expensions after i got them into arena ). don't get me wrong i wish they would open up their minds and transfer this game to the next level into the year 2021looking into the needs of the younger generations. i do not see any reason to spend money on this game as it leaves a bitter taste have this feeling since over 10 years by now still helding on. only playing f2p for the sake of my childhood memories from time to time - would love to spend more time and probably money but it just does not feel right

Not really. Sword of DnD only protects against rogues and clerics, there are still a ton of warriors and wizards that trade with the equipped creature and the D20 rolling mechanic is pure luck so this set doesn't really add much. Plus, the sword is silver-bordered so it isn't standard legal, and you gotta ask your play group in EDH if playing silver bordered cards is fine

They promised a meanful reprint this year, not over a year away as of right now. Thats their words not mine.

Well look, they are reprinting which is something, and tons of modern horizons will be opened so there will be plenty of fetches
