I think there was a pretty strong story but it was definitely presented a bit differently than traditional narratives. That is an interesting point about having knowledge of the Holocaust because one of the themes in the film was the German public’s claim that they had no knowledge that the holocaust was occurring. It would be interesting to poll gen z about how much they know about the Holocaust
@@TheMovieMinute-wMichaelAllen It just felt very “style over substance” for me The ending also felt very unearned, it’s never implied Hoss has any qualms with what‘s going on and all of a sudden he’s keeling over at the thought of everything that’s conspired, looking into the darkness as if he can see the future they’re showing us? Hedwig (coupled with her mother’s departure) would’ve been a far better vehicle for whatever the film’s moral message was
I agree that the ending felt a bit odd and I agree that as an audience we were being asked to track with Hedwig’s arc more than commandant Hoss. It’s worthy of thinking about the change we see in both of them because I think the change in Rudolph is abrupt because he clearly sees their world crashing down whereas Hedwig is in the home and still in a bit of a delusional mindset. Or better put Rudolph’s conscience seems to “wake up” quicker than Hedwig’s. Really appreciate your thoughts and discourse on this.

No offence .. you're a general review channel, and so content has to be viewed though that lens. But even the suggestion that you might ask Zone of Interest to be 'entertaining' seems desperately crass, to me.
I actually have been thinking about this a lot. When I saw this it was deeply impactful and the idea of an “entertainment value” felt very uncomfortable. There are definitely films that are not made for entertainment factor at all but for educating through a narrative lens. Thanks for the feedback truly. As I grow as a content creator there will be learning moments and this was definitely one of them.
