Found one of these refurbished for a great deal and I was confident to buy it because of your in depth videos, thank you! I’ll be back again in 2 business days 😂
You are a natural teacher, Chad.....So clear and concise. I really appreciate you taking the time as I do not have a manual(purchased a used R24) and do not like reading pdf's on a computer......along with that, printing them out.
Aw, thanks! I taught an exercise called Pilates for several years and it took a long time to learn how to teach it because you have to tell people just the right thing or they don't understand your directions. I think doing that helped me. It also made me fearless in front of crowds, as far as public speaking goes. I still get nervous when it comes to live performance, unfortunately.
I noticed when you turned your machine on, your machine showed Firmware version 1.10. There's an update on the Zoom R24 website - latest firmware version is 1.13. I upgraded mine easily. Maybe that might stop the problem you mention about occasionally not saving, losing tracks ...
Thank you so much, Paul. Because of your message, I finally bit the bullet and got the firmware updated. Noy only that, I documented the process so that it will help others get updated that have not done so. Thanks again!!!
@@ChadEtchison Glad you found my comment helpful. I've finished watching your 'One man band' series and found it entertaining and useful. In terms of work flow, I'm sure you've found that when mastering you can only use one 'Insert effects' setting. I've found it necessary to mix individual tracks with varied 'Insert' effects (esp. phasing/ doubling effects), and save them beforehand. Same is true of the reverb/chorus - only one type at a time for all tracks, though you can vary the amount track by track. I haven't found out how to use effects on the drum loops (I'm not a drummer) - maybe one has to record them to a track pair first? I'd like to try out some of the flanging effects etc.
@@paulwhittaker8941 That is excellent advice and is another way to get so much more out of the machine. I just finished a vid where I update the firmware -- thanks again!!!
I've watched this whole thing twice (can't say that about many how to's!! This was GREAT Chad, thanks a lot! I bought a used one from a music store and it has no instruction manual, so I've been looking on youtube to get some pointers. This was by far the most informative. My tunes sound so much better already. The previous owner had a lot of weird settings that I was not aware of, and you helped me get things on track. The one thing I don't really get is setting the 3 band eq to the '5's'. Doesn't that just boost everything 5 db across the board? Why not just leave it at 0? I didn't really get why to do this, but man, you said it, so I did it! ...but I don't get it. lol
I have two of these recorders because you can combine them, then you can record 16 tracks at the same time. I needed to record a whole band and I wanted 8 tracks just for the drums. You can rename and do some cleaning within the recorder. You don't need a computer.
@@ChadEtchison That's one of the features of this recorders. You can connect two r24s with a USB cable and with one device you can control both recorders. 🙂 Thank you for sharing! I'm putting my computer softwares away for a while because they have made me a lazy musician lol. And recording with the r24 is forcing me to practice a lot more before I record anything and that's making a better musician 😁
Do you know how to reset the R24 to factory settings? I have been looking everywhere and spelling the manual but can't find it. I want the fx patches and mastering fx in their original state because I think they have been messed with by the previous owner.
@@ChadEtchison I found something else in the audio interface manual page 18: patch initialize. You have to do it for every patch that you want to restore. Tedious... I will copy all my projects to my laptop and do a sd card format and see if the patches have changed to their defaults. I will let you know how it went.
Many people get these machines used and starting from a known state (everyting at default settings) can save a lot of head scratching and frustration. I almost always buy used gear, saves a lot of money and there's always people who don't have the patience to learn their gear and sell it for cheap!
@@markverbeek7760 You are so right. I have been amazed at how much you could coax out of this machine, and if you didn't go on a deep dive you would never learn of the capabilities and spent money down the drain!
