I really want to believe that, in real life, whenever Peter starts talking like that music starts playing from nowhere like in this clip.

Well, it has to. It's like a basic fundamental law of how the universe works. When someone as great and absolutely amazing as Peter Capaldi speaks, the atoms and molecules around him start vibrating so fast from joy it creates a subtle score to his words. It's just how it works and it's real science- trust me.

There's no music. You just hear music. That's the TARDIS translating Capaldi's reading into something humans can comprehend.

Transcript: And when the war’s over, when you’ve lost or won, when you’ve got a homeland free from humans, what do you want it to be like? Do you know? Have you thought about it? Given it any consideration? Because you're very close to getting what you want. What's it going to be like, this homeland? Paint me a picture. Are you going to live in houses? Do you want people to go to work? Is it going to be a land of workplaces and houses? Do you want people to go on holiday when they’re not at work? (inaudible) Are you going to allow music? Oh! Who’s going to play the violins? Who’s going to make the violins? Will there be money? Will people grow potatoes? Will there be enough potatoes? Do Zygons even like potatoes? Do they prefer beetroots? Is it going to be a land of vast beetroot forests, this paradise? Well? You see the fact is, Bonnie, like every other terrified, tantruming child in history, you have no idea what you actually want. You know what you want to destroy, you know who you want to kill, or you think you want to know what to free people from. But you don’t understand what you’re freeing them to do. Because you don’t understand what it’s like to live with other people, how complicated it is. You don’t understand what it’s like just to be a person, how complicated and strange and contradictory that is. You’ve got no imagination. You’ve got no empathy. And you can’t see beyond the end of your stolen little nose. Life, it isn’t black and white. Life isn’t light or dark. It’s full of rainbows. It’s a dazzling array of different colours. And you’re not equipped to deal with it. That’s why you’re going to fail.

+Fleur Inoue Original speech: Ah. And when this war is over, when -- when you have the homeland free from humans, what do you think it's going to be like? Do you know? Have you thought about it? Have you given it any consideration? Because you're very close to getting what you want. What's it going to be like? Paint me a picture. Are you going to live in houses? Do you want people to go to work? What'll be holidays? Oh! Will there be music? Do you think people will be allowed to play violins? Who will make the violins? Well? Oh, You don't actually know, do you? Because, just like every other tantruming child in history, Bonnie, you don't actually know what you want. So, let me ask you a question about this brave new world of yours. When you've killed all the bad guys, and it's all perfect and just and fair, when you have finally got it exactly the way you want it, what are you going to do with the people like you? The troublemakers. How are you going to protect your glorious revolution from the next one?

I'd like to think canonically speaking he did give this speech to Kate and Bonnie but that it was one of the 15 times he wiped their memories. I wonder if Clara remembers them all. 😸

He's the kind of actor I would really, really love to compliment and show my gratitude in person, for his unbelievable, unmeasurable contribution to art, in the role art plays in our lives. I always find comfort watching his performances, specially as The Doctor, but not only. And yes, there are less famous, noticeable artists, spread around the world, who through their amazing work give us strength to face the challenges of this life. It is also true that the famous ones out stand, for reaching more people. And amongst them, Peter Capaldi has a very special place in my heart. He got me through very though times. Thank you, Peter. And of course, to all others who played a part in the creation of the characters he brilliantly gave life to.

Im so speechless, sentimental right now, that peformance was stunning, totally something new and different from the original one on the tv show. Plus I found it interesting that this time it seemed he only showed little of his scottish accent while he got emotional at some point asking questions. Well Done Peter, and thanks for sharing

+DoctorMichael10 While thats partially true, swear words when used in the proper context can be quite powerful. They can be used to emphasize the scale of whats actually happening. When used correctly, instead of a bruising from a stick, you get a lashing from a whip. While not everyone has this effect when swearing...some do. Peter is one of them. Especially when someone like him is playing a character that never swears.

He can bring a new life to this performance. It’s the same but also original. I’m not the only person that must have thought he started the speech as Peter capaldi and very quickly slipped into the doctor like muscle memory. Capaldi was was hero from being a huge fan of the thick of it and in the loop. So I hoped for a grumpy, mean, darker doctor. And we often got that but he was also able to portray that there was a light underneath all that misanthropic rage. Just like with tucker.
