For everyone saying I need to listen to the Live version Theatre Kid Reacts to Disturbed: Sound Of Silence LIVE ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NG7RZgGedRo.html
I'm sure that those chin piercings are actually wearing him as an accessory, not the other way round! This cover is truly remarkable and David Draiman adds that grit that takes this to a higher level. Goosebumps every single time.
***** The Warning ***** "And the people bowed and prayed, to the neon gods they made." ~ Paul Simon "And the people bowed and prayed, to the golden calf they made." ~ Old Testament ~ "The Sound of Silence" performed by Disturbed. . "The Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel, Recorded in March 1964
David Draiman (the singer) is a trained Jewish Temple Cantor (the person singing to call people to worship) as was his father and grandfather. Which is part of why he's so talented.
Many thanks to Simon & Garfunkel, they have a huge catalogue of work and have influenced MANY current artists.....thanks to them for writing and recording this classic first over 50 years ago, warning us to not turn our backs on the world and it's willingness to embrace "SILENCE"........they made it possible for Disturbed, Pentatonix and others to re-interpret this great piece of music......also, mad props to the video makers....so moving.......
I don't know if one can call a remake by the same artist a 'cover', but Depeche Mode redid their own song from the 80's 'But Not Tonight" for their concert tour in 2014 (year?) The new incarnation has the same words, and generally the same melody, but the vocalist switched from Gahan to Gore and the arrangement moved from 80's synth to a piano / vocalist stripped down presentation. Hard to imagine it's the same guys. Another of the same band / different take songs is REO Speedwagon, who redid their 70's hit 'Ridin' the Storm Out' for an XM radio unplugged show in 2000-something. Again, it may as well be a different song and may as well be a different band, except that Cronin sings both.
@@DaP84 that tone where he really pinches the notes in his throat (The Game, Stricken, etc) seem to be the ones he has the most issue with. Overall he's still amazing live, but you can usually count on a few weird notes. The "Rah Rah" ad lib he does in The Game usually comes out more like "quack quack"
The way he’s looking at the camera with his head tilted down and looking straight at the camera is a classic example of what’s called a “Kubrick Stare”.
This song has been covered a hundred times but there are only three must-listen versions: the original by Simon and Garfunkel, this one, and the one by Pentatonix - in that order.
Grew up w/simon/Garfunkel this just brought the message they were giving about the future who would of known~Disturbed brought it to life in such a “Justice” of another Artists vision. Bow down challenge!!
It seems like there are not that many suggestions in the comments so I'll give it a shot. The thing you need to know is that this is not a very typical Disturbed sound. However, if you enjoyed this song, you might also want to check out more ballad type songs from them. "Hold on to memories" and "A reason to fight" are both great. I would like also to hear your thoughts on the cover of Sting's song they did "If I ever lose my faith in you". If you would like to get more of an authentic Disturbed sound, you have a wide range of sons to choose from: "Down with the sickness" - a classic, you have definitely heard parts from it "Stupify" - also an iconic Disturbed song from an early album "The light" - the newer sound when they incorporated more melodic sounding things into their old style "Are you ready" - flagman of one of their recent albums "Bad man" - an interesting song with a clear meaning from their latest 2022 album
The good and rage about the state humanity 's struggle to communicate, and how even music can even fail to communicate the connection between human beings or human beings. David's face said all!!!!! I love those guys. 😂
Yes he has piercings bottom below lip I might add he takes them out when he visits home and family~ they have a lot of great songs listen to Down with the sickness and wrong side of heaven those will give you a real feel of “Disturbed”
to get a good comparison of Disturbed's musical spektrum, now that you've heard this, you should check out "Down with the Sickness", and i would also suggest the album version (or full version) vs the video or radio version.
They are piercings. I used to have two posts in my lip that the jewelry screws onto. They kind of look like thumbtacks with screws on the end. I had jewelry similar to his.
This version of this song truly matches the lyrics in a way even the original does not. Even Paul Simon said the song belongs to Disturbed now, and he even put this version on his own site for a time. Recommendation: Down with the Sickness, The Light, and You’re Mine are good choices.
Recently watched an interview David did with The Charismatic Voice, another reactor, and he has since ceased wearing the double lebret because, to paraphrase his words, he wanted to stop being a 50 year old Hot Topics kid. You may also like the version Disturbed did with Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge in a duet with David.
I love Disturbed, Girl you have no idea how much hate this band gets from People on the internet its insane, love your reaction, yes that was a piercing David took them out though he said after turning 40 out they goes
I love how you mention his eyes, only for him to sing about his eyes. Im not 100% certain about his chin piercings but they are removable as he has so much respect for his grandfather he never had tattoos done and has piercings done so he can remove them when he visits him.
We finally found someone who can sing the 1964 song normally, because as far as I could see, it was just a cat meowing! That's right!!! David was fucking so good!!!!!🙃🙃
Right off the bat.. Is this in his face? I tend to have the same reaction to a lot of people like that LOL. But I'm probably 30 years older than you at least. I knew I was going to enjoy this video immediately😂
I love this version of "Sound of Silence." It was a favorite of my late father. There is a similar bass cover by RU-vid artist Bobby Bass. Definitely check it out!
Your youth and shallow perspective of life is obvious. The words , message and delivery were epic. It appears to go right over your head. It's a deep profound warning about human nature & technology that transcends generations. You missed the completely. We are so visual (the material world) go back and read the words.❤
As a music reactor, I'm surprised you haven't posted any content of Dimash Qudaibergen. (Unless I'm completely blind) He's incredibly technically gifted. I recommend starting with SOS 2017. It will be an amazing ride.
This has always been a great song by Paul Simon. This version though to me, and I love so many songs and genres, this version to me is the most PERFECT song I have ever heard. Period.
this was a remake of the old Simon and Garfunkel song. The growing tempo of the song reflects the increasing desperation of the lyrics, unfortunatly you kind of lessen that effect by frequently pausing the song and breaking the tempo
yes those are piercings. He has since removed them. This is a cover. The original artist were Simon and Garfunkel and they have since said that this is now his song. David is a Jewish Cantor (trained singer) . You should do Journey or RUSH... Do RUSH 2112.... it is a 7 part dystopian story in a song where music brings down the ruling priests. Keep up the good work and energy
This song is just gut wrenching.. but.. "What about these piercings!".. lol. I love this version soo much. The only part I don't really like is the sound of his long R.
Check out down with the sickness but don't do the radio version do the full album version. But I do have to warn you it's a little quote unquote disturbing 😂
you might want to listen to the lyrics - they are the story - do you even know what a tenement is? No offence dude but you come across as a maroon - is that what you are going for?
@Polyphemus89 Thank you. How does that affect MY opinion? BTW, I appreciate the respectful debate. I enjoy my views being challenged. It's the best way to learn in my opinion but I really like philosophy.
@@godropkicks3219 I guess I would just say that if you’re a fan of them you would respect their opinion. It seems like maybe you’re just not a fan of the genre and hate the cover even though musically it is objectively very good? I do definitely respect that you enjoy a good debate, too many people nowadays have lost the ability to respectfully disagree. Wish you the best!
You should have watched the live version from Conan O'Brien. It's impressive. Why are you so obsessed with his appearance? Yes, it's a piercing. Such an unprofessional reaction
You act like someone who had been drinking. , People do not USE OMG as you are, Paul Simon the original writer said the way David sings the song as the way it should be , THERE is A MESSAGE in the SONG, I think you missed,
