In short - your middle pin is your current zero distance. The upper and the lower pins are - and + 20 meters , respectively. There, I've spared you 12 minutes of repetition and saltiness. You are welcome.
@@Pypamid well, I tried that too and I kept getting different results which I imagined come from the wind factor. But after some practice , I got my own feel which, admittedly , is not tied at all with the zeoring skill(which btw, for bowman is totally useless once you get the hang of the pin magic). @@mmca2 cool, but that guide didn't account for different zeroing. The easiest thing for me is to zero the bow to 60 and use the top and middle pin for 20 and 40 meters, I'm not shooting any longer shots than that anyway

Yes and no. In practically any game with a gun from the last 30 years, the dead center of the screen is ALWAYS your point of aim. It's where your on-screen crosshair is, it's where your irons pop up, and in this game (and several others) it's where the center pin of a multipin bow sight pops up. I think this concept really screws up the real-world bow hunters out there (peruse the comments here for evidence), but for a gamer, this really should be second nature by now.
True. I posted this a couple years ago before the red dot rangefinding sight came out and rendered the pin sights useless, but there was a pretty heated argument on the FB group page about how to use the three pin, zero, the whole nine.
Unfortunately, this didn't help me, and not because I was stupid or because you weren't clear enough. Some of the info here seems to have changed with an update within the past 3 years since this video and in the Bearclaw with no zeroing perks, the zero is 30m. Since I don't have the zeroing perk, I can't verify what the current ranges are for those or if the issue persists if those ranges haven't changed.

As someone with over 800 hours in this game, I’m pretty sure I’ve got a handle on the way it works. The game does not perfectly simulate real world ballistics. I'd have to watch it again to see if I covered that. I'd wager it's somewhere between 10-20m. With the new Brightsight Rangefinder auto sight, I don't use any other bow sight now
Kaleb Poe rangefinder is dead simple to use. You don’t need to use or change the Zeroing Perk if you have it. Just aim directly at the target and press E to range it. This will cause a green dot to show up on the sight, and show you the distance to the target on the readout. Just aim directly at the target now with the green dot and loose.
This is the standard 3-pin bow sight that's available with the base game. There's no way to NOT have access to it. You'll have to unlock it through leveling your Bow XP, and then buy it in the store at the outposts.

Agreed! This dude is bashing people for not knowing how shit works in the game. I too, am a bow hunter and my pins are 10,20 and 30 yds. There is no zeroing on the fly, like this game shows. I hunt in tight woods with no shooting lanes over 30 yds

Alright guy traditional bow hunters have zero for every pin it’s not just one zero in a multi pin sight such as top pin is 10 yards 2nd pin is 20 or maybe top pin is 20 second is 30 yards just depends on a persons opinion/ speed of bow, arrow weight etc... I understand it’s a video game but you tried to bring realism into the game and failed awfully

still feels odd as fuck.. those distributions... 5, 20, 50... but as a general rule.. is it better for arrows to zero at 20 or 40m? anywhere longer i have a feeling arrows lose their velocity and penetration.. and also... do i have to consider windage? I've had pretty infuriating session on Fox bow quest on german map...
When I use the three pin sight, I'll typically keep the zero at 20m, and just bust anything that comes close by. You're absolutely right, beyond 40-50m with 420gr arrows, and the drop off and windage (yes it does play a factor!) are reaaaally wide.
Fantastic explanation for someone that's not a hunter/archer but keep in mind; the point of a pin sight is to not have to zero for a moving animal. You might as well stick with a single pin if you are constantly ranging.
You understand this video is for a fucking video game, right? I'm explaining how the developers chose to implement a multi-pin sight system into a hunting game that borders on the arcade side of the spectrum.
