In the UK we have suffered from "Positive discrimination" so as an example the BBC (British Boradcasting Corporation) will have a job vacancy but only allow Black and ethnic minority people to apply for the job because the BBC believe there should be more black and ethnic minorities working for them. The fact that BAEM people make up 9% of the UK Population but also make up 25% of the BBC employees so in fact BAEM people are over represented at the BBC..............It's all racism , whenever you ban people from applying for a job based on the colour of their skin is racism.Believe it or not Thomas here in the UK some people think banning white people from applying for a job is fine,ok and not in the slightest bit racist.. Thomas you have great integrity, common sense and understand the what honour means which are sadly lacking in much of todays society............... Thanks Thomas and hope you and your family enjoy your new lives in Sweden.

You are correct. The "new" racism is anti-White racism. Whites and particularly White men are being discriminated against in the worse way. Blacks are now being given positions they are not qualified for. It is shameful.

WHAT IF I TELL YOU GUYS THAT SOME COMPANIES IN BRAZIL ARE DOING THE SAME THING BBC DID. HIRING "BLACK PEOPLE" INSTEAD WHITE. BRAZIL IS A VERY ETHNICALLY MIXED COUNTRY. WE MIGHT HAVE ALL KINDS OF RACES HERE AND EVEN THOUGH LEFTISTS MILITANTS ARE PULLING THIS NARRATIVE ON US. I'M WHITE AND SOUTH BRAZIL WAS COLONIZED BY POLES , GERMANS UKRANIANS, ITALIANS . WE HAD THE INDIGENOUS OF DIFFERENT ETHNICIES TOO. PORTUGUESE COLONIZATION WAS THE ONLY THAT ALLOWED AND PROVOKED, IF I CAN SAY SO, THE MIXTURE OF RACES BECAUSE THERE IS A RUMOR THAT IF YOU MIX RACES YOU CAN HAVE STRONGER BREED . BRAZIL IS ALL ABOUT INDIGENOUS, BLACK AND WHITE GATHERED.

@@tobiasgriffin4263 Absolutely, invited to help build the country back up but the fact remains racism and inequality works both ways. So when we constantly hear about the inequality of opportunity for BAEM in the UK it's total and utter bollox.All we hear is about Afro Caribbean boys in the UK somehow being let down by the system when in fact it's white working class boys who get the shit end of the stick.. Add to that the likes of Stormzy who pays for 2 university scolarships for black students and the woke Universities are all in favour of it. Now if that was a white singer,rapper etc who did the same but for white boys only there would be uproar.. That is what I mean by the inequality we have which many in the BAEM Community are in favour of ,fucking hypocrites. I joined in the 80's just like you Thomas and I never saw racism, we were all brothers no matter skin color and that is a fact. Everyone that talks about racism in the legion they have one thing in common, they never served in the legion. Welcome to Sweden I hope you will enjoy it and if you ever need some help with anything just send me a message on RU-vid and I will contact you. LPN! Edit: In 88 we had a Japanese legionnaire at Castel, he had to redo some time because he never made the Raid march.. He could not say more then 2 words in French after 4 months and couldn't climb the rope or basically anything, still they kept pushing him to stay. However I never know if he ever made it because I left Castel before him.

But the Japanese guy at that time was like a straw and I carried him on my back for the last +2 kilometers in the river walk of the Raid march and my friends had to carry my backpack and his shared among them. Still he got his Képi but he had to wave us off to our regiments while he had to stay with the next section to redo the Raid, not sure he made it and for sure he did not have the French language.

In Corsica in 1975 we had a Sergent Chef who made it very clear that he did not like Arabs. But this question is complicated because of the “waves” of Legion recruitment. There was in the 1950’s Germans, in 1980’s lots of Brits, 1990’s East European after the Wall came down. So different groups sometimes get ascendency.

The Legion only wants the best. Enlist at your own risk no matter what race you are and they will weed you out. I can say the same for the US Army in my own experience during the mid 1980s. There was some form of racism also but I didn't care. I enlisted in the US Army as an Airborne Infantryman to be a Paratrooper. To be a Paratrooper to start with. They only pick the best. My skin color didn't matter because I was a browned skinned Filipino. In Basic Training I was a squad leader, shot better, ran faster, and taught mostly White kids my age too fight hang on and be tough. As a recruit I experienced racism mostly from minority Black, and Hispanic recruits. Not so much from White recruits. Most of my friends are mostly Whites from the South. I look at a person who they are and take them as a person who likes me. I don't hate a person because of his race. I only hate on how you treat me. Anyone who hates me I will give them a chance to hate me by fighting with me. If I win you can think anyway you like about me but I will fight you again when you ask for it. If I lose you will get the same. I was born to fight, and that I will do. I had known many soldiers, NCOs, and Officers from other races. I don't give a shit because I know all people are different. I only remember the good and competent ones in my life.

This happened just last night after 10 months of service with four months on Corsica with a Lithuanian chef section. I have been Polish my whole life raised by my Polish family. Honestly my father is Sicilian and my mother is Polish so I have darker skin. All my life all Polish people have said something along those lines but it just hurts that this happened in the modern army yesterday night. 100% truth. But honestly he deserted because there was a 37-year-old corporal foot foot who raped him in the bathroom. During our FTS this Japanese soldier who was really really good. What is the best at shining things. He had this sign your shoes. And even though he spoke a zero English and zero French he was the most disciplined soldier that memorized everything the best. Anyway some 37-year-old French foot foot who was prior service from the French army raped him in the bathroom. In front of half of our FTS. Anyway everybody knows about this. This happened in the FTS during summer 2021. But whatever I guess that’s the army I guess. I cannot do anything because the Japanese soldier deserted and the 37-year-old is on operation right now. But whatever it is still good in Corsica the Japanese guy was like 4 foot seven and the French guy was like 6 foot two and it was just really weird. Whatever I cannot say this to our chain of command but I tell you because you were the guy who talked me into this unit from the United States.

Bonjour mon adjudant. I think that in the mind of the officiers, especially the young ones stepped in military tradition, there are values associated with origin, kind of stereotypes, not necessary associated to race, Japanese are to be samourai, Nepalese Gurkhas, German soldiers of WW2, South-Africans and white Zimabweans with the soliders of Rhodesia and Border wars. So maybe you were considered more as a German than as a black, unlike a black African.

Female Marine Infantry, Transgender, and any other experiments the “woke” people think of. There is a reason no females in the FFL,….and it works. Is there prejudice in the Army? Absolutely, as an officer I saw it. To start if you didn’t go to West Point you weren’t “one of the guys” and it went on from there. During the time I served the racial tension was not strong, but during Vietnam and after it was. There has been since Roman Army, but when it comes down to it you fight and die for the guy next to you who wears the uniform you do, no matter the gender or race.

Officers are recruited from the military academy and it's the best officers that gets recruited for the Legion. École spéciale militaire de Saint-Cyr is the name of the academy. @AndyWoohoo666
@AndyWoohoo666 3 года назад
@@davidrasch3082 I never attended Saint-Cyr but I have visited it later in my career after the legion, the academy is very strict and from those French officers I later met I've never heard about racism. Of course as we all know racism is everywhere but on a minor personal level. I think that the old time racism is on its way out. Regarding the legion, during my time there was no racism to talk about, sure you could find one or two morons here and there but they often learned that racism did not work because the legion is an institution that makes racism hard, at least on the soldier level. What Thomas brought up might be a different story, I only did my 5 yrs and not 17 and I might have found racism if I stayed longer. I do however returned to my country and have been back in the military since then. I think that in a modern military there is no place for racism or racists, that just not how the military is today afar from maybe some on a personal level, over here you get fired if you come out as an racist.

A lot of racism in the West these days is more subconscious, being born from perceived or common stereotypes. Often these stereotypes get broken (or become less relevant), when we start to interact with each other more, especially when it’s demonstrated character is more to do with capability, rather than ethnicity etc.

First thing is how many black guys were in the 2nd Rep When you were there? Also, why were you the first black platoon leader? Probably because there weren’t that many blacks to pick from in the the 2nd REP. Look at how many whites were in the 2nd REP, dis they all became platoon leaders? No! Same with all the blacks that were there… probably the reason you BEQ came the first black platoon leader because there weren’t that many blacks and you were the first to meet the standard to make it.
