Zane asks questions from a musician's perspective - how many interviewers ask about pedals, guitars, drum-fills & band dynamics? Quite refreshing to hear.
I love this interview. It gives me hope of Them Crooked Vultures "coming back" one day, you know. It would be a dream come true. I mean, My favourite bands are Queen, Led Zeppelin and Them Crooked Vultures. I might see Queen in a few months with Adam Lambert, might... , with Led Zeppelin I don't have any chance or whatsoever.... But THem Crooked Vultures... They... Are the only one of the three who are surely not done yet. Still a young band. They have to release another album, tour again. It would be a dream come true for me.......!!!!
You say a young band but John Paul Jones is no spring chicken, need to see these back together soon and Grohl has hinted in 2014 that a new album could be on the cards, the material is there just need to record it so fingers crossed 2015 has a surprise in store.
paul bradley Dude, I know a shitload about Led Zeppelin and I know almost everything about John Paul Jones, man. He's my idol. :)) Don't try to tell me something new, hahah! Jonesy is the reason I got into TCV at all!!! Also, yeah, I believe they'll get together. They WILL. They all want to. It's just.. hard to find the time. John, Josh and Dave are just very busy men. But I'm quite sure they'll get back from hiatus! My guess is on either late 2015 or somewhere in 2016.
Lol at Josh @ 2:13 Dave: Do you remember any sessions? JPJ: Not really, it was all a big blur to me... Josh: You did a Blur session? Talented Josh is quick-witted, as well.
@@kman-mi7su JPJ didn’t really party like the others, he was a serious family man faithful to his wife and going from the stage to his hotel room by himself every night.
JPJ: We couldn't agree on anything Dave: I mean I remember when the conversation came up like okay which songs are we gonna leave off? And everyone looked at each other like, "Well, NONE! WHY?" Josh: Well It was almost a double record actually in the beginning ya know. Are you fuckin telling me that there was a bunch of songs that could've made it on the record that didn't get released????? Oh my god we need it nowww. These guys are too good together to just let all these probably godlike songs get stored away. Ya know?
That drum part Dave played from Warsaw was the first complex one I understood by ear! I was so proud to know that I was right, and knowing from HIM that it's the best he can do... oof, that's something for me. The constant bass drum, the "escalating" toms (K-F-T), just like a staircase (that's the way I picture it lol), the sutile 2 taps on the ride, the 3:4 polyrythm that again, I got by EAR (as a begginner drummer) Oh gosh that's a special song for me...
Maybe its just years of me playing it wrong and conditioning myself like that. But i cannot play that warsaw beat. I just cant firgure out what it is. The one that he's so proud of that switches between ride and floortom
Asking the guys about the pedals, guitars and drums....get to JPJ. How about the sci-fi bass you play? Oh I invented it. I INVENTED IT. Just slips that into the conversation in his quiet way.
So when do we get a new TCV album?.......i hope Jonesy is in good health.....he's the oldest......i get concerned.....AMAZING music....i have played my TCV cd so much.....my cd player wud like a new one
