"I never tired of" with a "d". "in the days" with a "s". Don't mix up golden music with stoney muzack. I mean do not put together in the same bag Them's music with garage bands' music. I do like very much "Brown eyed girl". I like "One two brown eyes" too + "Here comes the night" + "the story of Them" 7mn 20 sec + "Richard Cory" + "All for myself" + "You just can't win" + "Just a little bit" + et le très beau "I'm gonna dress in black" + "Mystic eyes" + "I put a spell on you" + "Bring 'em on in". I have 4 Lps from Them. Wot can do soopid muzack from 1980 to 2023 in front of Them's music from 1964 ? No comparison.

@@noriemeha : Rires ! Poor lil' thang ! If it sounds Amerikan to you, it's because 50% of their songs are covers of Stones songs and another 25% are covers of songs written between 1930 and 1940 by the great black Amerikan bluesmen. And I hope you already know that the songs on the first 3 Stones albums are all covers of black bluesmen. And since you're so young (15 yo ?) and so ignorant, I'll let you in on a secret. As soon as a white band adapts songs created and sung by blacks, it gives you the : "Rythm an' Blues". Well, you owe me 85 €.

@nickpsychic1562
@nickpsychic1562 10 лет назад
@TheRunner75
@TheRunner75 10 лет назад

But hushhhhh, very few people know that. My friend, you are named after a great singer and blues musician who was the first after the authentic Pope of Blues : Alexis Korner, to introduce the Blues to the English in 1961. And during the first six years, the greatest musicians played in his band 'fore they were known like : Eric Clapton at the age of nineteen, John McVie (Fleetwood Mac' bassist), Mick Fleetwood (Fleetwood Mac' drummer), Jack Bruce (Cream' bassist and former Jazzman), Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac, a God of a guitarist), Mick Taylor (Stones' lead guitar, hundred times better than this bum puppet of Keith Richards), Aynsley Dunbar (drummer, he was very upset 'bout being fired by J. Mayall, strict an' severe who forbade his musicians to drink and take drugs, so Aynsley formed a band called Aynsley Dunbar Retaliations), Fito de la Parra (Canned Heat' drummer), Larry Taylor (Canned Heat' bassist), Keef Hartley (drummer, he was fired also, then he formed the goup Keef Hartley Band), Le Grand Sonny Landreth (slide guitar), Coco Montoya (lead guitar) Albert Collins' guitarist leaves J. Mayall to replace Bob "the bear" Hite who died, Joe Yuele (drummer), Don "Sugarcane" Harris (devil, devil, devil violonist. At the time he was in prison. So J. Mayall paid the prison governor to let him out just long enough to record), Harvey Mandel (amerikan guitarist who played wi' Canned Heat), Jerry McGee (amerikan guirarist who founded group : The Ventures in 1968), Hughie Flint (drummer from group McGuinness Flint), Bernie Watson (guitarist in 1963-64), Roger Dean (lead guitar. Then he left the band and became a VERY GREAT illustrator of vinyl covers. He created 106 covers for many bands. For example, he designed the covers of all the albums of the band: Yes, that are 29 covers. In 1969 wi' the Lp : "the turning point", J. Mayall abandons the classic scheme of the formation to play the Blues to integrate into his new group a flute and an acoustic guitar, played respectively by Jon Mark and by Johnny Almond. These two are great an' famous solo musicians but sometimes joined forces to create the famous duo : Jon Mark & Johnny Almond. If you don't know 'hem, I won't talk to ye anymo' an' I'll bite yer liver bone wi' anger. It's simple, J. Mayall was the boss and for each record he changed musicians. He must have recorded 67 albums but only the first 6 (officials) are of great value plus 4 albums recorded 'fore his first official Lp in 1966 'bout confidential older recordings as : "John Mayall plays John Mayall" & "Diary of a band" & "Don't look back" & "the Blues alone". The 33 Lps left you can throw 'hem away or play freesbee wi'. Yet he's a great blues singer he has formulated to dedicate his entire life to the Blues. He has a beautiful, plaintive voice made for the Blues an' he plays good mouth harp and guitar and organ and piano. His master is the Bluesman J.B. Lenoir. But alas, e'en despite his first passion for the Blues coupled with his pure and authentic approach for it, which earned him the enmity and the diversion of young ignorant English people in 1966, this generated in 1967 his second Lp entitled: "Crusade" , like hundreds o' poor inhabitants of the earth, he let himself go easily, lost his inspiration and above all, took himself for someone, he fell into the trap of making music for the money. If you already know him, and since you also know Clapton, then listen to 2 gems never released on vinyl because they were only released as a single in 1966. They are of great beauty. The titles are : "Telephone Blues" & "I'm yer witch doctor". Well, my friend, yewh John Mayall, sign a cover of your records for me....

When I was a kid, my dad and I would sing along to this.....very badly.....in the car when it came on the radio. Probably one of the best songs to come out of the 60's. The Doors did a great version of this too (its out there someplace) and Jim Morrison just did what Jim Morrison does best, and I am pretty sure it's a fairly long live jam (correct me if I'm wrong). I love that version almost a little more....maybe because it's a little dirtier, haha. Jim had no filter whatsoever, haha.

June 2-18, 1966 - The Doors open for Them with Van Morrison for a two week engagement at the Whisky. The very last night before Van and his crew went back to Ireland they all played “Gloria” together. John Densmore talked about it in his book, remarking that it was one of the most memorable experiences for him. He said it was one of the greatest times of his life to be on stage with 2 drummers, 2 guitarists 2 keyboard players and 2 Morrisons. Amen to that!

Jim's version is a bit more risque than Van's version - but hey - that's what the Lizard King did !!!

@@franksmathers7742 : Jim Morrison has much less merit than Van Morrison to sing this song. One cannot compare the year 1964 with the year 1967 when Jim sings it. Jim's performance (whom I love) is much less valuable than Van Morrison's.

Every block had a garage band. Walking a mile down Logan Street in Denver you would hear ten bands practicing in open garages. Music was everywhere. Go to Washington park on a Saturday in 1968 and there were 5 to 10 thousand free souled kids playing frisbee, smoking herb, playing guitar and celebrating LIFE. Van Morrison's music was part of those gatherings. Morrison is a HOLY MAN to my generation. May time bless his soul with music FOREVER.
