Many years later and still watching this. The vool are the most underrated aussie band. Saved my life years ago by listening to them. 2019 they are still going string. Bless them and ian kenny is a grear musician!
intro to song* they just play it to build up themata.. and it works. seeing it live is truly EPIC (i have a couple of like 10 second long vids from my phone of their show... it was brilliant)
Man you Australians know how to fucking rock out at a concert. Here in the US people just beat the shit out of one another and no one hears the music. This video shows them all jumping up and down in unison. So cool.
lol they played in kalgoorlie in the bar where i worked last night (kalgoorlie hotel) they got so hammered after, they put on a pretty good show as well, they played at some youth fest today in kal, all completely hungover from the night before, nice one dudes, the guitarist with the yellow shirt asked me while i was getting him a carona "are you coming to smoke weed?" haha nice one dudes
at 3:22 you can see Hos talking to himself. It's actually a old Mayan ancestor that he speaks to regularly during performances to bring him goodluck. He and two of the other guys actually go thirds in eating a fish known as a Ling before every show. true story.
I remember the only time I've been lucky enough to catch you guys live was a Wednesday night in Toowoomba. A small show but it packed a punch. I can't wait for all this to be over so we can all start loving love music again.
You dont get to many live shows do you? Never seen Rammstein or parkway drive live? Or electric callboy? This show is tame compared to what is out there in terms of energy and band delivery
@Thystan i couldnt agree with you more. i scored them weed when they were in boston so i got to smoke three blunts with them, the most down to earth, humble guys EVER. they love jaeger too lol. its only a matter of time before they shatter the us music scene, so see them while you can b4 they start selling out here!!!
@mafuhungy there all talking about muse coz Karnivool is the australian version of muse and muse were at big day out with karnivool :D big day out was the best day of my life aswell 2 of the best bands in the world now :D
yeah i realised straight after i posted that comment, they always just play it before themata.. ive seen them live since i posted that comment too ha. my mistake
i agree with you unfortunately. Birds of Tokyo are a bit more of a poppy band compared to karnivool so they will be bigger. i heard a Birds of Tokyo song on a 'Pop' channel the other day. for anyone from melbourne i heard it on Nova. you will know what i mean when i say i was VERY surprised. lol
Now that's a crowd. It seems like every time I go to a show nowdays everybody just wants to stand around. I remember going to shows when I was like 15 and everybody would be into it, jumping around, moshing, etc. I came home from going to Music as a Weapon when I was like 13 looking like I had gone 5 rounds with Mike Tyson and I couldn't have been happier.
Oh of course I hope Tool never retires but these guys are a generation younger than Tool and so consequently able to speak to a younger audience but with just as much to say as Tool.
@TinF00L People like things to be mass produced and placed infront of them, I think its a good thing that you have to seek all these good bands out, it means that they'll hopefully provide you with some sort of deep meaning, and you wont just listen to them 'because everyone else is'
@mannersification nah, he just lets himself get lost in the music. I do some of the same stuff when I get into what I'm listening to, and I haven't smoked a day in my life haha. all about the passion
So bands should be judged based on experience? I'm not for a second saying that TOOL is a bad band, I think its a bit misconceived to think that experience defines a band, however. The talented musicians point i'm not too sure of either. Kenny's vocals are something to behold, the guitar skills of Goddard are amazing especially with the tuning used, the drums are also amazing especially with weird time signatures (take a look at set fire to the hive off the new album).
Goo Goo Dolls detunes their guitars to unholy oddities for most of their songs off Dizzy Up the Girl (who says you can't appreciate poppy music and metal at the same time?) like Iris and some of the other songs. I dunno - could you count Black Crowes as pop? If so, they detune their guitars for at least "She talks to angels" to an open something or another.
@minijproductions hahah that was like me when I went to an Yves Klein Blue and Blue Juice concert, I was just talkin to the lead singers and I had no idea how famous they were haha hectic when I found out
@chebaka4 why are you comparing the vool to muse? on another note, why watch one of the greatest live performances ever then say you like something else?
do you mean that thing at the start? its the intro thing to the album, and it has singing... im guessing he was trying to get the crowd to do it? i could be wrong
is it just my speakers or is the vocals on this recording very hard to hear compared to everything else? I know its a live cut, but it still sounds muted.
