Thanks John. Wish I could have been there as well, in 1979. Must have been an amazing experience to hear the stories from brave men like your father, on the exact some spot where it all happened. We thank him for his service and will never forget.

also a dutch journalist,hakswalburgh schmidt, did some research for a glider pilot he knew to trace the soldiers who were in his glider when he took them to Arnhem.. It turned out it was my dads platoon ,,, and he wrote a very good book about what happened to them at Arnhem and after the battle ....its called No Return Flight: 13 Platoon at Arnhem 1944

Are you going for 75th anniversary? How come the exploits of platoon 13 are not mentioned in “A Bridge too far” by Cornelius Ryan? 1st Airborne story is inspiring even a person like me from India.

Watch the vidio again and you will find the answer....anyway, the vital objective was the Arnhem bridge.
