You can't tell by today's weather, but winter is right around the corner. We're busy today making preparations for when the cold and snow hits. We also made a big duck decision today. What do you think?

had a fox get 2 of my hens this past summer…ugh…all I seen was feathers everywhere….just sad…& I got my run all winterized! Plastic up, electric dog bowl ready, (I have 1 khaki Campbell duck) she thinks she’s a chicken & she is just for eggs & a pet. just need to get a electric nipple waterer yet. Glad to see you back! ❤

Awww… I’m so sorry! Predators are just the worst! I’m ready for winter (as in prepared)but not ready for the cold… if you know what I mean. 😊

Hey there Stacie. I was curious how you guys would like duck compared to chicken. I steered away from duck b/c of the fatty/oily skin but I guess it depends on how you prepare it. I'm sure there's a way to cook a duck that literally melts away every bit of excess fat. The last time I consumed duck was when I purchased a uniquely prepared poultry dish called a "Tur-Duck-en". Chicken, duck, and turkey made into a unique dish. It was pricey but tasty. Sorry, I didnt know you guys lost Lilly but it's nice to have the other little dog to fill in the void. Not much going on here in NC. We went through several months in the summer of triple-digit heat, then a week or so of cooler, fall-like weather, and now we're eduring much cooler fall-like weather. The lowest temps thusfar has been in the mid-40's. Deer season has been the thing almost everywhere so I've had folks sending multiple text-photos where they're posing with a monster buck and brief story clipped with the pics. Hello Don! Yes, Steve loved the duck breasts. They were a lot like steak. Raising them has been a lot of fun, too. Lily made it to 14 years and 2 months. She really started to decline over the summer and we had to say goodbye on August 17th. I miss that sweet lab-type dog, but also don’t want two dogs. We’ll see how I do. 😂. Glad you have cooler weather now! It’s good to hear from you. We’ve been so busy working and camping that videos were left behind. 😊

Hello!!! She was such a good dog with other animals… just not their food. She was 14 and had the best, fun life. I miss her terribly, though. How are things with you?
