Finally there is someone although not from India to understand the nuances of Ilayaraja's composition. Thank you for analysing the Raja's greatness in his composition and educating music world. This also reflects Raja's music transcends regional and language boundries. It also proves that his genius has the potential to infuse peace in everyone's mind no matter where he live or who he or she is. Thank you Madam

HI Lidia - This is just amazing. I am ardent Ilayaraja fan, grew up listening to Raja songs and music. Its so beautiful to see you break down the composition and draw the bridge between to western and indian classical notions. All this makes Ilayaraja that much more special. I believe Ilayarja's music will live for decades and may be even centuries and its people like you who will enable this heritage. Thank you so much.

Love the way you interpret and appreciate Ilayaraja compositions. FYI this song was composed for a romantic scenario involving two "Tamil street folk musicians" with an innocent man explaining to his blind lover what the world around actually looks like. Back in the day, such scores for "street folk musicians" were very stereotypical and all composers either oversimplified it or overcomplicated it with too many modern elements. Ilayaraja always being Ilayaraja made this masterpiece that too for a movie of considerably low production value. AND THEN to think of it from the perspective you have just presented has elevated my respect for this song way more than it used to be. The least I could was to hit subscribe!

I have seen few of your videos and Nice work! Here is my 2 cents - To understand Raja’s composition one should know the basics of how modulation, modes, imitation, ornamentation works and Techniques like Fuge. Notable use of counterpoint were major influence of Bach. More the closer we looks we gain more understanding. Each of his signature song are symphony grade quality with utter most technical disciple followed. Lastly I recommend you to have closer look to his baseline. You will be amazed see how unique they were constructed. One of the finest composer of our time!

There are thousands of wonderful songs that Ilayaraja sir has composed. Though I have more, here are a few that I could name (of course, I have a long pipeline of songs 😊) which you could be of interest to you and also to the subscribers of your channel. From movies : BGM for the movie “Onaayum Aatukuttiyum”, “Pani Vizhum malar vanam”, “Rojavai thaalattum thendral”, “Nee thane endhan pon vasantham” from the movie “Ninaivellam Nithya” “Santhanakaatre” from the movie “Thanikaatu raja” “Andhi Mazhai pozhigirathu” and the “Violin Concerto” and the BGM from the movie “Rajapaarvai” “Kalyana then nila” from the movie “Mounam Sammatham” “En vaanile ore vennila”, “Aasayai kaathila thoothu vittu” and the BGM from the movie “Jhonny”. The modern version of the latter is from the hindi movie “Shamitabh” and the song is “Stereophonic Sannata” “Valaiosai” from the movie “Sathya”
