Dubois was a highly regarded French romantic composer and organist. He was born near Reims and joined the Paris Conservatory in 1854. After winning the presitigious Prix de Rome in 1861, he spent 5 years in Rome to pursue further studies in his art. After returning to Paris, he became a widely known composer, organist and teacher. Among his works are several operas, orchestral and other vocal works. Some of his organ works are widely known and played, probably also including this gracious Marcietta in F major. It is No. 3 from "Sept Pieces pour Orgue" from 1898, and is marked "Moto di marcia moderato", with a dynamis range from piano to forte. Instrument: Johannus Live III, sample: Sauer - Leipzig.
