Hey, I like to think that happiness is the space between two dreams. The bigger your dreams the higher your morale, joy, and excitement. Fulfilling your desires may not be all that, but fulfilling your dreams here on earth, makes the next dream more plausible, and so on. When you have good dreams you could say screw my emotions... i'm going to be happy.
What is happiness/well-being? Plato - form of the Good Aristotle - eudaimonia Hobbes - satisfaction of our desires/appetites (problem of mistaken beliefs would cause us to desire things which are bad for us and would not make our lives better) So, we need to "clean up" people's desires/preferences and then well-being is satisfaction of these better desires Utilitarianism - well-being is pleasure and the absence of pain - but which ones? The ones you like best for Bentham, but for Mill, the highest ones (problem - well-being is simply the matter of our mental states and has nothing to do with reality) Objective list theory - well-being is a list of the "good" things - health, pleasure, activities, friends, relationships, etc. (problem - different people have a different mix of these theories); when we pick among what is better between these, then what rule are we using? How do we really know what well-being is since it seems as if we really don't know?
Hegeleze What you wrote included everything important he said, was clearer, and on fiftieth the length. As an economist I listened to same guy describe the philosophy of economics and it was atrocious. Not at all impressed with this person so far.

don't surpress a man. if anyone intentionally holds a human down then depriving him of self worth. then saying oh he is ok let him go. or he is a threat he is angry. if anyone gets rich blessed is he. if ur poor work harder but dont experiment the depriving portion of the experiment only. thats being ass hole.
