Friday, February 2, 2024 at OLG Theatre in Niagara Falls, Canada. Thanks to Fallsview Casino for the comp’d tickets. Pretty high up but can’t complain about free tickets and besides, this theatre isn’t massive so the view was still decent.
As for the show, opening act was JJ Wilde, who was entertaining in her own right, but i was there to see Theory of a Deadman. Being fairly familiar with their catalog, but never having had the opportunity to catch them live I was looking forward to this show. Didn’t have the flash of some of the bigger bands out there but it was still very entertaining with great music and crowd interactions. Sometimes less is more. The pyrotechnics, screens, moving drum kits etc can sometimes distract from the band & the music. These guys put on a great show. On a few occasions, frontman Tyler Connolly, while singing, would ‘shake hands’ with the crowd up front and a couple times took an audience member’s phone to record the band & audience then hand the phone back. He also shared a few anecdotes with the crowd between songs, something I enjoy when the band lets the audience in on stories of a song’s germination or meaning.
