How did nobody recommend "Jee Veerey" from Bloodywood?! It's literally about mental health and the struggles associated with it. And a great song regardless of topic.

Hey, bro, I have. I've recommended Jee Veerey as a reaction, as most reactors have never heard it, and it is a song that kept me from taking my own life -- by convincing me to keep fighting. It is why I always recommend Jee Veerey, as my way of giving thanks to Bloodywood, because they saved my life.

@@isaiahwelch8066 "We can get back up if we're still alive". You're not alone man. Struggled with depression most of my life and thoughts of ending it have never been far away. But these "tests of fire" which most people never experience. You do need to be strong and brave to get through that. I know many people don't, and that's not weakness. It can seem that way at the time but we are fighting monsters. Maybe if we talked about it then people would realise that it's not just them alone, and they aren't weak for feeling that way. Feeling suicidal is the loneliest feeling. Plenty of songs about it but that's the only one I can think of which is positive and doesn't annoy me.

@@mikmook4781 : To me, it's the only one I know of that rather than talk about it, Jee Veerey says, "Today is the day to do something about it. You've got this, and we've got your back." And when you have days that get hard because you chose to fight, that's where Aaj says, "Today. Today you make a choice to make your life better, and don't quit. You've made it this far. You can do anything you set your mind to, and you are strong enough to not bow to anything unless YOU choose to bow to it."

A week or so ago, I had a very difficult day. My issues with self-loathing and self-doubt were REALLY kicking my ass. This song appeared in my YT suggestions. It was EXACTLY what I needed to hear at that exact moment. I think I listened about 10x in a row. I decided to fix what's been broken with me for years. I'm now setting my goals and making my plans. You are 1000% correct that this is a WARRIOR ANTHEM. Nothing inspired me to fix myself like this song did.

As an extreme introvert, often to my own detriment, metal is my outlet. I don't talk about how I feel and I rarely show emotions. I know it's unhealthy but when things have a severe impact on me I shut down. Metal keeps me going. So from personal experience, you're absolutely right. And metal is much, much more than just raw unfiltered aggression. That's the first thing people tend to pick up, but metal is very easily the most diverse genre there is. From catatonic and gloomy to raw and angry to warm and wholesome. There's happy, upbeat metal, there's depressive metal, there's grand, epic metal. Some bands paint entire landscapes with their music, others keep things simple and within a certain mood. People who claim they don't like metal, just haven't heard the right bands for them yet. You shouldn't just listen to a Metallica song, not like it and discard all of metal entirely. You'll miss out for certain. If you don't like the screaming, that's fine. Plenty of bands don't use it. If the music is too intense, that's fine too. Not all metal is loud and heavy. If you don't like certain lyrical themes, once again, that's fine. Metal lyrics span from anywhere between folklore, grand adventures, personal emotions and just about anything else. Some metal bands draw inspiration from stories like Lord of the Rings. Others are obsessed with aliens and sci-fi. Others write half their catalogue about drinking and partying. Again others make concept albums that take you through a story of their own creation. But above all else, metal is brotherhood (or sisterhood if that's what you prefer).

Aaj is my heartbeat. My anthemn. No matter how many times i fail and stumble and fall. My savior picks me up and i rise. As long as i have breath i will declare that there is a free gift available that brings total freedom. Freedom to fly. I will always be a warrior for Jeshuah. 😇

Bloodywood are a wonderful group of human beings. Often a message in their songs, this being one that effects me to most. Jayant's chorus is such a battle cry it lifts me up. An adding the Snake Charmer, Archy J, on the wordless section adds the beauty and calming balm. Live, this hits hard.

You'd love their song Jee Veerey. It's about suicide, but not in a miserable way. That's probably not a good way to describe it. Accurate though. The song really meant a lot to many people (me included). It translates as "Live, brave one".

Another artist might've finished the song with that crazy breakneck part and it would've been a great song, but what a fantastic touch to resolve it with a dead stop at the peak and a leap into the ambient female vocal chant, then let all the pieces slowly assemble again into the finale! What a song!

Rosalie, you are more right than you know. Aaj is an anthem -- especially for those like me that are chronic depressives, who have those days where we wonder what's the point to living, what's the point to life. And this song is an anthem of not just encouraging people to fight, but to realize we have the power of choice in our lives, to change our situations. That we aren't stuck in whatever mire we find ourselves in. It's also about taking a chance, if only to not have the regret of not taking that chance. That being said, I still would want to hear your analysis of a couple of other Bloodywood songs: Jee Veerey (Hindu for "Brave One") and Yaad (Hindi for "In memory" or "remember"). Additionally, I'd like to hear your analysis of an Unleash the Archers song, a cover of a Stan Rogers classic from 1981 called "Northwest Passage." Lastly, you now have another artist to check out: Archy, known as "The Snake Charmer," who combines Celtic and Irish traditional music with traditional Indian instruments, all while playing the Scottish bagpipes. Because of her dedication to her art, she is now known as the first female Indian bagpiper, and has been nationally recognized in India for what she does. That being said, check out her rendition of "Toss the Feathers," an old Irish "pipes and drums" song. I think you'll like it as much as I do!

considering the comment was hearted I won't edit it but I'll put the list as a reply Diablo Huma- Equador Hiddenland- Equador Cemican- Mexico MiracleOfSound-Ireland (look up his songs Sirona, Grainn Mahoil and Tale of Cu Chullain) Alestorm- Scotland (it's pirate metal but some people count it?) Tyr- Faroe Islands Percival- Poalnd/ Pan slavic Arkona-Russia Rune-Serbia Mägo de Oz-Spain Po' Metra Crijeva- Croatia (the band name means half a meter of guts) Manntra-Croatia Brkovi- Croatia (more of a punk band but look up their song "Ovce" a MAGICAL blend of rap, metal a, punk and folk influences) Metaklapa- Croatia (This one is weird ... they do covers of metal songs in traditional Dalmatian singing style .. for example they did Aces high) Dubioza Kolektiv- Bosnia & Hertzegovina (DO NOTE! This band is called a band with no genre for a reason! they varry from Regge R&B To Folk-Metal-Punk ... compare their "Space song" and "No escape from Balkans") Arka'n Asrafokor- TOGO (also worth of note is Skinflint from Botswana but they don't ussualy have much folk elements) Al-Namrood- Saudi Arabia (They played metal when it was punishable by death... IT DON'T GET MORE HARDCORE THAN THAT!) Hassak- Kazakhstan (it's an ethno band but listen to their song Amanat and tell me it don't belong on a metal concert) The Hu- Mongolia Nine Treasures - China/Inner Mongolia DreamSpirit- China Wagakki band- Japan Nini music- Taiwan BLOODYWOOD- India Alien weaponry- New Zealand Shepherds Reign- New Zealand/Samoa

There is another Indian band- Agam, that quite literally proves how similar progressive rock and classical music is in technicality. Their genra is a perfect fusion between traditional South Indian Classical music and Rock. Yet another one, is a song called Navarasam from an album of same name by the band Thaikudam Bridge. I think you'll appreciate the subject matter explored and storytelling in that song's visuals as well.

@11:36 can't lie, this song bringed me to tears from the avalanche of emotions. It's just plain crazy how many difrent music genres they blended toghter: folk metal, power metal, techno, some rap.. I don't know that much music theory, but it seems to me they used the structure of metalcore but lyrics of power metal. @14:52 that's what I've seen metalcore does with the blend of clean and distorted vocals.

Heavy Metal was the best Therapy I ever received, best part a hard core heavy metal session aka buying an album, going to concert and buying another album is still cheaper than even 1 regular therapy session. Granted when I went through therapy it was for being attacked, metal soothed me more, the therapist made me feel like I was in an insane asylum. My therapist demanded I cried on command, hate the person and wish them harm, but when I didnt she went insane trying to force me into far extended classes. as someone who studied psychology for fun I am conflicted if my Therapist at time had mental issues, or just couldn't accept someone could be wise enough to heal on own even if person was a very bright 13 yr old boy.

If you enjoy skilled musicians and motivating lyrics, maybe check out Nemophila? Their songs "Rise" or "Adabana" could be right up your alley. And if you need it to be a bit less metal, then "Life" will knock your socks off. Edit: Oh, and I forgot - most of their songs have English subtitles.

Great reaction. Thx Rosalie. In the context of your channel - world music and psychology you should check out 'The Warning' and their album 'Queen of the Murder Scene'. They are 3 sisters from Mexico playing hard rock music. This album is a concept album telling the story of unrequited love turning to obsession and spiralling into psychosis and murder. They played the album live and in sequence several times but the best is probably live at Teatro Lunario in Mexico City (CDMX). They are well worth checking out anyway but if you do, be prepared for TWA (The Warning Army) to Mob your channel!!!
