I remember this point in my childhood. I'm 37. I spent the last 4 years re-learning how to fly. It's like riding a bike... but then everyone is throwing rocks at you as you ride down the road. Grab a helmet, dust off the wings and fly higher than they can throw.

This movie broke me, and put me back together, a little bit better than I was before. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm healing. And we all need kindness. To quote a line from the book that didn't make it into the movie (at least not from what I remember): we often wait for kindness... but being kind to yourself can start now.

It just broke me. No putting back together. The ending is so tragic. No one to take care of any of them. The friendship as home is just a lovely fictional illusion that will fade as they starve together. I just cried and cried.
@catatemyname7801
@catatemyname7801 Месяц назад
@@carlaeskelsen the movie is more metaphor than anything. I highly recommend getting the book, it’s not an actual story as they did for the movie, it’s just a collection of wisdoms and heart warming affirmations. They are looking for things they thought they needed. But they found them along the way in each other. You can interpret it however you like: kids being desperate to have a normal loving family (while their own is anything but), only to discover the joy of found family. Adults who try to achieve socially acceptable success, only to find that having people they love in their lives is all the success they ever needed. People feeling like they are not enough and never will be, looking back and realising how much their lives meant to others, friends, family, even pets. It’s about a journey to find home. But home is never a place. It’s connections, with others, but also with yourself. It’s love. And if you want to take the plot of the movie literally (which is also valid), they made it this far without starving or freezing to death. The fox knows how to hunt. The horse can protect them. The mole can forage. The boy could make shelters, or climb trees to see the lay of the land. They could survive and be happy.

From what ive seen, sometimes horses are great therapists. There is something about them for a lot of us that draw us in, and they are in tune with your emotions and facial impressions. They are more observant than lots of people think, and so you have to be real and patient with them, let yourself feel things. Because the horse would get confused if you are angry, but you are pretending by smiling. Horses have a way of calming you down, i think, to stop and smell the flowers and just be with them, because fear and anger makes them reactive. I get they are big animals that could kick and bite you, but they appreciate direct actions to tell them "no" when they want to be pushy - and make them back off, and show a little more respect and give you space. Horses dont really appreciate touches unless they trust you, and you go for their favourite spots to be scratched. You have to be honest with yourself, and the horses, to get along well. Then they would be your best friends.
@mindyourmovies
@mindyourmovies 28 дней назад
Yes there is a whole thing called equine therapy for this very reason!
@BaughbeSauce
@BaughbeSauce День назад
I used to work at a boarding stable as a trainer. I specialized in the problem horses. It's amazing how many "problems" are just caused by people not giving clear direction. "My horse charges out of the stall and through gates, almost trampling me!" Because you're unsure. You're hesitant because you're leading a large animal through a narrow space and you've taught him to make the decision of how to get through it for himself. Now you're both out of step. He needs you to be a leader and tell him directly what you need. Not half-facing him, jerking his halter, go-no stop, why are you stopping? So he just rushes through the gate to avoid the whole dance. Within a few hours or a few days, most of the time gate rushers would walk through the gate peacefully and calmly with me. Most problems in the saddle start on the ground. I never even grew up with horses. I didn't have the privilege. But I always felt connected to them, even as a toddler. I understand them. They understand me. I never feel less alone than when in the company of horses. I feel more like one of them than people. I still struggle to make friends and connections and communicate with people. I moved away and can't afford to have horses. I miss them.

For All....This can be a short movie. Or a Long movie. One can view this in it's shortness, or choose to delve into oneself to see just how long and far we truly are in this experience. Each animal is a representation of each sequence of Life we get to. One moving into the next while one showing the fear and exiaty in progressing from the basic form of mole.

Hi. These touched me like so many. I began seeing a parralell to how my life as a parent turned out. I am the boy, the horse is my oldest, the fox my middle son, and the mole my daughter. It would be a lot to bother comparing detail wise how it does. Sure im fitting them together, but its not with much trying. Idk there is a form of tonic in this film. I cannot understand. I want to elaborate. I could see most drawing the feeling that the boy is the child, and the animals the adults, if comparing that way. That’s what I was seeing too. When I compared it to my life however as I described above, it became something more. Why? After six years the mom left me, and I went from everyday daddy of three to alone nearly overnight. Since 2018, I’ve only spent one night together with my children. I pay lots of child support and I cannot keep a good relationship going so I don’t have a home I have a car, and a job I can loiter at. Our time together is wandering, basically. Not being home, there is no home, but together. It’s I that searches for a home, like the boy. Lost when with them and when alone. The character connection of the animals to my children is astoundingly tight. Kind of why I’m compelled to say something and not just do a quiet analogy game and leave it at that. The horse, my oldest. He is a born gentleman, really true. It’s hard to explain, how I’ve looked up to him, he’s my child. I guess think of the horse to get it. The middle is the fox. He is just like this it hurts. The mole is my daughter. The baby. She is innocent and happy and vulnerable. I cannot fulfill explaining it well. Just maybe that it touches me deeply. I have a parallel that is close to home. I feel blessed but sad. Sadness comes with beauty these days. They are intertwined, and I feel that is an accomplishment I achieved.

I think it's a bit misleading and super soft. Kindness works great if you fake it, and empathy is a dark void. Love and happiness are not part of reality. They are the temporary distractions that we use to escape reality. Words are very dangerous and keep us all prisoners of someone else's understanding this is why animals don't speak. Remember life is player vs player, those are real people not NPCs
