The Puttering Sessions: Want a chance to chat with me one on one with no pressure to work with me any further after that? We’ll take an hour while I putter around my house to talk about where your marketing is at and I’ll give you my best questions and reflections I can. This is particularly great for people struggling with their niche.
I only do 2-3 of these per week and they often sell out weeks in advance: www.marketingforhippies.com/puttering

Photo, real writeup, story, background, niche, website: clear homepage with ideal client, bio: story, video with podcast and videos, signage, my philosophy/cosmology, skip all the opening stuff, don’t waste time, robust website, see you, tone, case studies, what it is like to talk to me. Point of view, what is the problem you can help me with, empathy - guidance? My side of the bargain, your side of the bargain. Packages for resolving trauma.

I am a therapist and I am becoming a Coach for so many reasons….and I would be perfectly happy to have some private frank conversations with you about what I’ve seen. Off line. It is a total crap shoot, from a client end, as to if you’ll wind up with anyone who is any good. I can definitely validate that right now.

I really love what you teach and I'm coming to see you in the UK. What I would put to you is that your idea of what's expensive is subjective. I don't consider USD 180 expensive. The model I work with is not charging per session (I stopped swapping time for money a long time ago!), and instead, I conduct an initial free enrolment call. Here I spend about 30 to 60 minutes getting to know you, giving you some insight into what's going on for you and why, building a connection and then I come up with a plan of how best to work with a client, which tends to be over a 3-month period. I dig deep into what value the client will gain i.e. what difference this will make to overcome X, Y or Z. It's also here that I talk about my POV and the way I work (although there are loads of educational videos, video testimonials interviews, case studies, testimonials and my bio on the website) and what your side of the bargain needs to be. To work with me over 3 months is in the thousands. Something I often say to fellow therapists is - why would you charge less than a plumber :)

Beautifully said Tad. Thank you. I'm a yoga therapist who works with survivors of childhood trauma. And yes, all the things you are asking for is what I wold want too. It's actually why traditional therapy didn't work for me around this issue. What did work, is what I teach. I am going to use your videos on this topic as part of my outline for successful client coaching. You Rock.

As someone who makes websites for coaches, acupuncturists, chiropractors, and therapists.. I hear you! I've had experiences with a not-so-great therapist (institutionalized gaslighting and unnecessary pathologizing during a rough period in my life) I once encountered a therapist who had a one-liner and hook on his website that read: "I respect my clients." Of course he had a map, compass, and route, but this is what he started with. It seem rare in that profession.. and I know plenty of people that feel that finding a therapist online is a crapshoot. That's not good. And he had a story, POV, and it blew my mind. As someone who builds websites.. the work that you talk about isn't just a "nice to have." It's a MUST have. I won't build a website without it, because I would be taking someone's money to build a website that I KNOW won't do much for them but sit there. THIS.

Thanks for this - as among other things, it clarifies how I need to expand my sales letters and website to highlight my pov which is that one hour is not enough. Which is why my sessions are 75 to 90 minutes. And half of $180 ...which is my other pov that I rant on - just because you can doesn't mean you should 😆

Love the truth in this. Recently I reached out to a Coach who just sent me her fees no other qualifications or story behind her WHY. I was gob-smacked by the arrogance.

This actually gave me confidence and hope, because listening to you I realised that I do have a lot of the things that you are talking about already in place, it's more a matter of reframing and tweaking it and bringing a clearer structure to it all. Thanks a lot!

I like the idea of treating it more like a business with definable, as much as can be, results...and what therapies I use and what they do and why I use more than one. I love it. Thanks.

Hi Tad, Just wondering what your thoughts are on having the price of packages on the website. I’m a trauma therapist an an EFT practitioner (AKA “tapping”) and trainer. And I have taken lots of your advice, I love it. I created my “Resolving Trauma Package” after watching this! I’ve done a free coaching week long program recently that a coach friend invited me to, and they recommend not advertising price on your website. To reel people in then tell them your price. I like to know how much things cost myself before I waste time or money. But interested in your point of view 😊 thanks for all you do !

This was helpful. I am not a therapist, but a relationship coach who also uses counselling and helps heal childhood trauma. I think I have most of what you were saying should be on a website, except I don't have videos yet on there. (I have done a couple on FB). I have a 12 session package which can also be bought as 4 x 3 sessions. My issue is that it is usually one of the couple who wants to work on the relationship, and so I am offering 3 self love sessions for free while waiting for the other partner to get on board. How can I do that better? If I also say PWYC, doesn't that sound too desperate?
@marketingforhippies
@marketingforhippies 3 года назад
I could see crafting a package based on, "What Do I Do If My Partner Doesn't Want To Do The Work?". And regarding PWYC pricing - this might be of some use: marketingforhippies.com/pwycebook/

I'm not sure where you live, but the issue with healthcare in North America, especially in Canada, is the imbalance between the high demand for mental health services and the limited supply of qualified experts. In response, there have been programs offering therapy degrees that don't always ensure sufficient training. Some individuals spend five years in school (a true example of capitalism) while others spend only one year, earn a degree, and believe they're ready to provide therapy. Additionally, some people, sometimes as young as 30, call themselves therapists and offer life advice. As a result, there are now numerous licensed practitioners who lack the necessary skills and knowledge. Many of them only know how to "respect diversity" and read confidentiality consents fluently, spending therapy sessions nodding and making meaningless noises like "uh-huh" and "right." This is the core of the problem.
@lesliecie

My understanding is packages are not allowed. You are not allowed to take money for sessions a head of time.

You know I wonder if the recent price projection requirement (I know that is not the official terminology but I can’t remember right now) but I wonder if a person could kind of nest the bundle under the price projection. Here is what this will cost you and these are the steps we will take to get there.

Plot twist: the therapist is a Marketing for Hippies fan and uses her "this is what psychotherapy is" spiel as a filter to scare off clients who think they know more than the therapist.
