Conscious Business Folk: Are you struggling to attract enough clients?
You can be a better marketer and attract all the clients you can handle - without sacrificing your integrity.
We work exclusively with "green business", local business, sustainable business, social entrepreneurs, holistic practitioners, life-affirming and otherwise conscious entrepreneurs who are struggling with their cashflow, not attracting as many clients as they want and who don't "love" the idea of marketing (even if they love their business).
marketing = manipulation . if you do more than just present your product in an honest way then you are an evil person . there is nothing to discuss about .
I’ve been on the niching struggle for a bit, especially in trying to narrow down “who is it for?” The frame of “what do I want to be known for” is really helpful and has definitely sparked some clarity. Thank you for all you do!
This has always been the underlying element that feels gross to me about sales. This is why I've never liked sales from either position, the person selling or the person being sold to. This is also why I like your content.
I absolutely love this! I'm a boundaries coach and I noticed when I first started listening to you "Tad has fantastic boundaries!" This is a shining example. I love how you said it makes people more human when we give honest feedback about how their behavior impacts us.
1. Are you a mother? 2. Are you a people pleaser? 3. Do you struggle to get your kids to cooperate with you? 4. Does your frustration grow to angry yelling at your kids? 5. Are you ready to take responsibility of your own feelings, thoughts and actions?
Oh wow this so resonated with me. I have been taken in by so many snake oil merchant. I bless the day you came into my life through Gemma Gilbert and Ellie Baker!
1. R u ready to change and What evidence can you show me 2. What have you tried doing and why do you think it failed 3. What is your goal and how do you know that yo have done everything possible to achieve it? 4.What will you do when i give you something to do that you don't want to do and what would keep you from complaining if you hired me to be your guide? 5. Who would you be most emba embarrassed to know that you did not complete this
A simple shift of the day of the week for Island A brought clarity to how to reach my desired audience. The other islands and bridge drawings make sense now. Many thanks Tad!!
This is crazy helpful, as are all your things! I (like most people I'm sure) keep thinking "but they have this issue, and this issue, and this issue - it's complicated!" I'm not quite done with Island A yet, but I've gotten a LOT More clarity from this exercise!
I like that bring your biggest marketing troubles...i have only done the signature one dayers and they are brilliant...pay what you can.. Do you ever do these 4 day retreats in the UK
In my experience, the primary defense of unethical practices is that they are proven effective for getting people to buy. Manufactured urgency for instance. There's a belief that people won't notice that they've been manipulated or that it's worth it if they are sufficiently happy with what they've purchased.
As a fellow human I really want to thank you for addressing this issue, especially because you are a white man and your demographic tends to be the one who most often ignores issues of safety, especially for women of color. I'm a boundaries coach which means that people talk about deeply personal things. I have tons of free content out there including 5 years of a podcast so that people can get to know me. But, I'm going to be much more explicit on my website about the things that I do to bolster my potential clients sense of safety. Thank you! It's going to include a section called rarely asked questions and secret fears. Because they're not frequently asked questions
Start with vision , what you desire to experience and express in your business....and its none of our business ...the vision is yours...thanks Tad for the reminder
Some people speak about marketing and I think, "They are really smart". And then there is you who speaks about marketing and I think "I feel smarter because of this". Thanks Tad!
Tad, I am a little confused. I think you are saying that when you are working with people the deep work is ethics, niche and POV. When I work with my clients I need to identify what those three stages are for me?
yes, the deep work is ethics, niche and POV. And you don't need to do anything but i think having three steps articulated is helpful. I speak about this a bit more in my Five Drawings video.
love this! (Susan Gale here from A Place of Light :) ) I feel the second two parts are simply applying all the deep work, finding the right ways to structure its presentation and finding right fits for sharing. My three steps for the people I serve are being energetically grounded, paying attention and trusting what they receive, and being the energy of love. When someone masters these three things, they have a life of calm and a continuous and trustworthy source of guidance.
I was so moved by the section about how the predator and protector parts of humanity are brought into existence by weakness and vulnerability. I frequently revert to the collapsed artist archetype and this has inspired me to think about a daily boundary setting practice to keep that skill sharp for when I need it. You are a gift, Tad.
I was definitely taught the method of "wait a minute I thought you said you wanted this" in a "Concious Business" program under the guise that I was "helping them say YES" It felt weird back then and I am glad you pointed it out and demo'd a way to be curious from the heart if that was helpful.
Thanks Tad. I like the advice around the 'next step' link from the Signature Workshop (to join a mailing list). It has to build on the value, make sense and be relevant. 👍🏼
Thank you, Tad. Last year, I have island A (current) and island B (future) defined, now I need to describe Island C (vision) and Z (losses), and redefine the bridge. Does the bridge uses the content from Diagnosis, Prognosis and Prescription?
Michelle, if you end up pursuing the industry presentation on how to support the emotional lives of kids, or just want to brainstorm how you might go about it, I would love to talk with you. I think that would work really well for my stuff too!
if I had to bet my savings, I'd say you will likely have a much easier (and more enjoyable) time taking this over to non-profits and NGOs as opposed to the corporate world. I myself am currently learning about your perspective to create my Tarot Apprenticeship course, which is a project being done without the aim of making profit. Two things that any non-profit ventures need to be are certainly ethical and sustainable (successful in uncertain times). And your marketing solves that particular issue. You simply solve it for businesses (for-profit ventures) right now but what is there to stop you from adapting things to a non-profit audience?
Another very convincing video. It reminds me a lot of attachment throaty- anxious and avoidant attachment, and childhood wounds and lessons. I’ve definitely been a collapsed artist, and I’ve also tried being a posturing entrepreneur. Neither was satisfactory. I look forward to hearing how one moves to the composed marriage. .
