I am an early childhood educator here in Canada, my expertise is on ASD. It is nice to see how you give him space when he's in his big moment, however, travelling while he's not totally calmed yet is unsafe. It took them awhile to calm especially when they are overly stimulated. When you are going to an open area, and there's no secluded space, try to bring blankets with you, use it to secure them until they're calm. That compressed pressure helps them to calm. The car also can be his safe space when his away from his room. Leave him there for a moment, less talk. I noticed he is more acting out when you talked about his inappropriate behaviour, he is showing his not ready. Patience is the key. I watched all your videos, you are a great Mom.

If he had trantums like , so it's not safe for him to go out with other people. Kung Ikaw nasasaktan ka nya. What more yun iba? I'm just curious. Di ba pwede pagsamahin Ang pagiging patient at truthful. Telling him he's a good boy tapos sinapak ka Naman. Di ba pwede Sabihin na bad yun ginawa mo. Nasaktan mo Ako. Baka in reverse mas maintindihan nya. Kasi parang cycle na lang napanood ko sa previous videos mo. Tell him what he did was bad. He hurt you. Like he will tell you his sorry then scream and hurt you again. Di kaya naiisip nya napapasunod ka Naman nya kaya sya ganyan. Parang Wala ka kasing corrective action sa kanya. He has a developmental disorder that is why po he cannot properly express his feelings and unable to control himself for doing it. As a special child like him, compliments help him express his feelings po. Nakakasakit po yung bata bacause they have no control over himself po that is why, kaya patience is the key. She is explaining to him his actions at the same time complimenting him. As you can see in the video when she shed a tear he again slap Ms. Candy because his feeling guilty.

I really admire you Ms. candy. Quentin is very lucky to have a mom like you. My sister is tongue tied and half paralized. She was diagnosed with mild cp and global delay syndrome. She is 17 now and we love her so much. I hope to meet you one day ☺️

I am a mother of 2 autistic girls. And i totally resonate your experiences. The greatest challenge is not how to control their tantrums but me controlling my emotions and extending my patience sky’s the limits especially when my girls are are hurting me or themselves because they cannot express their feelings. This video is the reality of how dynamics are for families like ours, who have special loved ones. It seems messed up and tiring, and easily judged by people who happen to know less to nothing about this situation. But for us who do this every single day, it's loving unconditionally and endlessly. Que and other kids, like my Ikoy, are not bad people. .infact they're so pure and true, it's just that they have different ways to deal with things, express things and take things. Sometimes, it gets physical, but we know exactly how bad they felt doing that too, and it's another thing for them to manage on their own, another hard battle for them. Ms. Candy is hurting, not because of being mad, she hurting because of pure love for que, she knows exactly her son's pain, that's why she's crying. I salute her for being the bigger person every time, all the time. Let's try to understand people like Que, they need acceptance not judging eyes. They can be a great part of society as well, just give them chance.
I work with people with special needs & mental health… this is very familiar an everyday episode at my work… it’s very challenging but be firm…safety is the top of priority. I even have some who opens the door while driving so car has kids lock door… I agree with you that they have that high of emotions eg frustrations followed with anger then crying episode & remorse… they are NOT bad people, they actually nice, friendly & caring. Miss Kends i also have an ASD son who is now 23yrs old his into biking and always have bike repairs sometimes when he wants bike upgrades and we put it on hold he goes with hia meltdowns so we the parents will leave him with his 2 teenage brothers when he sense that we are no longer around he stops and thats the usual episodes we feel secure for we live in a compound within our ancestral house. Nobody goes near him so we wont get hurt and be carried wirh our emotions hope you can manage him.without getting hurt Kends...you are in my prayers for your good health and strength in raising your much loved Quentin

My nephews in canada have same condition with quintin.watching this make me realize how my sister struggle to take care of them.she have 2 sons who have autism. but in canada they have government support.medicine,doctor,allowance,care giver ect. Hi po. Sobra akong naaapektuhan sa sitwasyon niyo kasi meron din po akong kapatid na autism. Several years ago, grabe talaga siya manakit kapag nagme-meltdown siya. Bigla-bigla na lang siyang aatake at kung minsan pati si mama sinasaktan niya rin. Growing up, medyo mahirap sa 'kin na magkaroon ng gano'ng kapatid kasi dahil panganay ako, pakiramdam ko, I was deprived of experiencing normal life. Hindi kagaya ng iba, free silang gawin ang gusto nila ng walang inaalala pero in my case, mas prefer kong magstay sa loob ng bahay kasi nagwo-worry ako na baka kapag wala ako, biglang magtan-trums ang kapatid ko tapos si mama lang ang kasama niya. Minsan kasi may instances na kahit si mama, hindi niya na macontrol ang inis niya and once na mangyari 'yon, parang ramdam ng kapatid ko na galit si mama sa kanya kaya ang tendency he will feel threatened and instantly hit my mom. Nakakaworry kasi ang mga katulad ng kapatid ko, wala silang pakialam kung malakas o kung saang part ka nila susuntukin, ang concern lang nila is mailabas ang galit nila. May isang beses nga na sa ulo niya nasapak ang mama ko. Nakaka-trauma na lumaki sa gano'ng klaseng environment at alam ko na kahit ang mga kapatid ko, hirap din. Mahirap at minsan kinukwestiyon ko ang Diyos. Kasi bakit gano'n? Bakit parang bawat araw pinapahirapan kami? Bakit si mama hindi na magawang lumabas ng hindi iniintindi ang kapatid ko at magawa namang mag-enjoy kasama ang mga kaibigan niya? Bakit hindi kami makagala bilang pamilya dahil sa pagtatantrum ng kapatid ko? I often asked those questions but at the end of the day, I understand my brother's situation and I still love him no matter what. Thankfully, medyo maayos na ang behavior ng kapatid ko ngayon. May minsan na nagta-tantrums ang kapatid ko at may pananakit pa rin na eksena pero hindi na tulad dati na sobrang lala. I want to salute you, Ms. Candy for being our voice. I hope mas marami pang maging aware through this. Mahirap pero hundred percent na agree po ako sa iyo na blessings sila. They teach us a lot and make us a better person ❤️. God, surely, blessed as a lot.

I just finished watching a while ago. My grandson has ASD. How Ii wish we had specialists here in Aklan who can help him. We don't have the resources to bring him to the big cities to see behavioral specialist and teachers. Quintin is so lucky that he has early childhood intervention and he has a wonderful mother too. Maam if you have internet you can search some tips on you tube. I recommend videos from hong kong they have a lot of successful stories on autism. I do our own therapy since i can't afford it na tuloy tuloy. Kailangan kasi pag nag therapy tuloy tuloy and i can't afford a 700/ hour therapy.

one thing i see wrong here is over-stimulation, both of you talked too much, the moment he already said sorry, Candy should have seized that time to be quiet, especially while driving, i can tell from Q's reactions that he was annoyed when Candy kept repeating things that Q did wrong, it triggered him, maybe next time, play some music so Q can wind down, refrain from unnecessary talk, i can tell that Q is highly functional, don't treat him like a little child, even if he acts it

As a working single mom of 3 and 2 of them are also in the spectrum, I feel you Ms. Candy. Very challenging talaga, minsan maiiyak ka nalang dahil overwhelmed ka na especially when there are hitting involved with their tantrums and meltdown.. Watching your videos with Que inspires me and makes me feel that I’m not alone.

Saludo talaga ako sayo Mommy Candy. My best friend's son and my inaanak is the same as Q. We live here in Thailand, and his doctor suggested a form of yoga and meditation (moves made especially for them). Even putting on meditation music, when they are throwing tantrums. After just 3 months on it, my inaanak doesn't throw as much tantrums and seems more calm, even asking for the meditation music to be put on every day.
I remember Q having a meltdown and you let him cool down while you watched him from another part of the house. In this vlog, he could have probably calmed down faster if you applied that same technique, and conversing with him in the car was held back for a few minutes, until he calmed down a bit before discussing his behavior with him. It's really amazing for mother's like just where we get the patience and humor in dealing with out kids esp during tantrums.
