It's called Term Limits. If your state notifies you about a convention of states meeting, GO. There needs to be grassroots movement for term limits. Think back to when our founders wrote the constitution, the average life expectancy wasn't what it is today, hence the two year terms, at least that's my opinion. Change it to four years for congress with maximum of three terms; senate, keep at 6 years with two term limit. If they can't get anything done in that time, good riddance, get some new blood in there.

This is between a borrower and a lender. The solution is that borrower needs to understand her own budget and buy a cheaper home to cover %20 and avoid high insurance and fees. If she wants to put $3K for $100K she needs to pay for the higher risk. Otherwise the lender won't give her the money. It's a simple finance 101. People have been doing it since the dawn of man. You buy to your purchase power and not more. The moment they touch these fees lenders are going to distribute them as these senators called it. They're not gonna pay from their pockets. Example: 2 men buy $100K home in the same neighborhood. One puts $20K the other $3K. If both pay the same amount in mortgage and fees then basically the 20K guy is paying for the other guy's home. The less down will already pay more because he/she holds more debt. Mortgage insurance is another way for big business to make more off of the less than rich. People with 20 down can have problems arise that cause a foreclosure too. They had same financial situation going in as the less than 20% person. But life happened and boom foreclosure. The one with less down paying for MI, same score and on time payments never defaults but pays a few hundred a month for a very long time. That could have gone towards their payment instead. Or food on the table etc. And MI does get required by mortgage companies for people with less than 20% down difference only. Not interested in paying for another big insurance company to profit off the hard working middle income people in our country anymore. This is discrimination against those people who have what it takes to pay for their mortgage but they don't have the right cash to pay down. Seems like the country is always trying to hold middle class down. Or should I say big business, added disadvantage to middle class is to make the rich richer and wipe out middle America. Lost two real estate agents because we would not look at any house we would not be able to pay for with just one income because they said we were wasting their time.
