Welcome back to Irrepressible: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Resilience and this episode is a bit of a special one for me as I speak to James.
I met James around 8 years ago, I had not long stopped drinking and was really struggling. Hearing James share his story and talk openly about his addiction and his emotions was a massive moment for me. It made me feel human and less alone.
This interview is so powerful. James never holds back in talking about his addictions and the struggles he's faced in his recovery. Having over 20 years of abstinence, what James story does for me is shows that it doesn't matter how bad we get when trapped in addiction, there is nothing we cannot face in sobriety.
In James' words -
