The word 'girl' isnt being used for 'gender' when a baby is born, just like it isnt 99% of the time.

Its different from what you know to be normal, it may be new, but so are many of the traditional conceptions of gendering children, they have drastically changed since say ancient greece or many other ancient social norms, even since the 1800s these things have drastically changed, and even in the past 100 years they have changed, they arte alwys chaning. Long haior, short hair, blue, pink, each binary opposite trading places. But the fact of the matter if you are like me, living in the USA, then you are living on land that was once occupied and cared for by Indigenous Native Americans, many tribes of which had non-binary gender norms allowing for other social roles. Get with it, you are the one who is behind on the facts.

She may not give a solution but it helps to identify a problem first before coming up with solutions, and when it comes to pointing out an issue I think this person does that quite effectively. Hello Nicholas. This is because being a man or a woman is something that goes beyond what you do, it is who you are and what your identity is.

Your gender is who/what you are and not how you act or look. There’s a point to be made that the gender roles we think of are arbitrary. Made up. What is it about working or watching sports for example that makes it a mans thing? Nothing. And what about cleaning the house or wearing make up is only for women? Nothing, other than the ideas and gender constructs that humans have put in place. You can be a woman and “act like a guy”, maybe you work out to be buff and you fix cars, but those 2 things that we traditionally as think of manly things to do….do not make you a man. You could be a man that dresses in “traditionally woman’s fashion” with dresses, make up, long hair etc. that doesn’t make you a woman. What you do, and how you present doesn’t determine your gender.

Actually it doesn't go both ways. I was just in a store selling kid's clothes (called "du pareil au même") and it's separated by two genders. A pattern is clear: for girls it's predominantly pink but there is also all colours, but for boys there is also all colours but strictly NO pink, at all. So it doesn't goes both way, girls wearing blue as well as pink and every other colours is okay, but boys wearing pink is rare to non existant.

TL,DR: Don't discredit a whole area of research because of a bunch of people misrepresenting research data for their own agendas. A lot of the social sciences on TEDx only end up there because they scream the loudest and/or are about a recent/woke subject. However most of the statements made in these talks would not pass the scientific scrutiny older fields of social research impose to themselves. Which is even sadder considering that their loud behavior makes normal people so skeptical of social sciences that they will ignore the results of the more traditional kinds of research, which take years or decades to formulate tentative theories. People will be tired by all the nonsense that was screamed before. Especially as the serious research will use the same vocabulary that already got misappropriated by many agendas. So in the end this will not only hurt the reputation of the solid research that is done, but also hurt the understanding of the real social dynamics that are happening because people will be tired of listening. Or they might even make or follow their own social movement, which then in turn should be something analyzed by scientists, but not be the scientific research itself.
