Matt! Thanks so much for coming out and picking up my dad's Corvair collection. It was a pleasure working alongside you and Hefe for a couple hours. Best of luck!! 😉
Every man on the planet recognized Jamie’s tone when she asked “FOR WHAT???” . Matt is lucky her glare didn’t transfer through the phone. If the two of them were were in the same room, Matt probably would have burst into flames. 😂😂😂
Shout out to Jaymie for actually writing the check and filming it. I’ve had a couple of those moments when the SO sees the actual bill and goes, “WHAT?!” Matt’s reaction is spot on - because there is something seriously wrong with us. But at least you have spares now. Maybe that needs to be the sign on the shipping container “MorrSpares”.
The start of this video is gold - the contrast of switching between Matt darkly confessing his addictions like he attending an AA meeting, then flicking to the bright positivity of the workshop and the Bombi build. Great editing guys.
Shout out to the editor(s). The "Matt Alone with his Regrets" scene after Jefe ditched him was twelve seconds of imaginative material sourcing, color fading and dead-on comic timing. A tour-de-farce! You should be in pictures. Ben Stiller needs you.
The crew is getting more sophisticated with the videos and Matt comedic timing is improving. I love cross country road trips especially when they're under a half hour.
For some reason I want to be reluctant in agreeing with this assessment because I am impressed with the ever increasing Caitlyn appearances. She is far too happy to be real . . . . . . . . Right?
I thought that Katelynn had some big boots to fill, but after watching her welding and driving the Samorri, I realised she brought her own boots with her and I'm looking forward to seeing more escapades with her.
@@-ScottyIt probably helps that what they're doing well, I don't want to say is not important but no one gets killed If those welds are completely atrocious, they just lose some stuff on the way to a job. So if there was ever a thing to let Caitlin practice how to weld, this would absolutely be the time and place
I think there was some clear communication on this one though. Matt was out of the shop and Tom didn't buy like 50 nice things. Instead Matt was feeding his addiction and he brought along Jefe to partake. All I'm going to say is that Jamie's rock crawler better be a sweet Morvair body with how much Morvair paraphernalia Matt's been getting as of late.
@@-Scotty I mean....He hasn't changed. He was one of my Boy Scout leaders when I was growing up. I learned, roughly, how to weld from him and the other leader. It's basically like that. He'll do 1, tell you what will happen and what will put you in danger, hang on to the thing and tell you to go for it. Your learning has to have a launch point and Tom makes sure that launch point has as few visible supports as possible. Can't say I'm a great welder from that experience, but I could melt two pieces of metal together if I had to save my life.
One of the great things about the MORR channel is watching how new/inexperienced people are brought in and trained up. Lizzy was a fantastic example of someone that viewers got to watch as their experiences and skills grew over time. Understandably, Lizzy eventually moved on, but it is nice to see that MORR has brought someone else in to give a similar experience to. Welcome Caitlyne (spl?) and enjoy all the opportunities available to you to learn new skills! MORR Apprentice Program!
The "For What?" question being posed by the wife is a classic. Men from the beginning of horse trading have had to hear this question while internally sweating bullets clear across town or across the country. The addiction is the love of an piece of automotive history. You are like an archaeologist finding hidden treasures to be put on display to the masses. Bravo!
Katelyn is a great addition to the team. She is ready to learn the craft and has off road driving experience. I love to see women get into these types of skills. She’s going to go far. You rock Katelyn.
Oh no, Jake didn’t make the snap. Hope he reappears in 5 years was so unexpected. I laughed out loud! Now I can’t stop giggling to myself. Good way to get people to move away.
I loved this one. Matt was so happy the whole time. Jamie gives him a bath then he runs outside and rolls around in Corsair parts. Quick PSA for everyone; if you see a U-Haul or similar, give it a wide birth. They aren't all driven by drivers like Matt, they're also driven by people who haven't driven anything bigger than their Nissan Leaf.
Your PSA gave me a giggle. The wife and I picked up a 26' Penske and a car hauler when we moved. I did a majority of the trip and I was to tired for the final few hours. She offered to drive the remainder of the trip. It never occured to me she's never driven anything larger than a full sized pickup and a small trailer attached, let alone an overloaded medium duty truck and trailer. I've never seen her so focused while driving.
LOL the phone call with Jaymie at the end was too good! Been there a few times with my mom/dad bringing home "projects". Matt, you did the right thing by bringing a Corvair parts store and most of a wrecking yard home! You've inspired me to get back on the hunt for more BMW E28 parts 😁
One thing about Matt crew’s. People come and go, they are all good people and they bring something to the group. We miss the departed crew and welcome the new members, can’t wait to see what they bring to the show content.
Could be a good idea to mount the guage cluster, on the bombi, above the front window attached to the headliner. Gives more leg room and won't be kicked, plus I don't think yall will be worried about the speed limit.
Good idea. And most of these dashes have configurable alarms, so the dash will flash, if some value is going out of range, or it could activate an output wired to some LED control light right in the view of the driver.
Agree, that gauge location looks to low, look down all the time, up higher is better, rather have the lower window, obstructed a few inches, surprised on adding seating up so high, on it and winter time, no one gonna wanna freeze, may be better for gear holding space, and think about a bigger unit, trying to do much with the smaller bombi.
I was thinking the same thing - mount the gauges up above, especially since there only needs to be fuel, water temp, trans temp and voltage gauges. Plus add lots of usb plugs to charge all the camera equipment.
Thank You!! for wearing safety glasses while grinding and welding. My daughter asks me "why do I have to wear safety glasses when Matt doesn't?", so I'm really pleased in this episode you are setting a good example with good safety gear. Please evangelize "you only need to protect the eyes you want to keep".
I was first introduced to Corvairs when my Grandfather bought a brand new 1963 Corvair Spider. I was 13. Since then I've owned 3 of the 2nd Gen "vairs". I love these cars. Thanks for keeping the love alive. ❤🎉
Love the fact the you desire to bring other people into your channel. Yes, Tom can weld better and faster. But you take the time to educate others. Caitlin has been excellent addition!
Matt, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you. You are completely normal. It’s guys like you who hold our civilization together. I can’t begin to imagine the hell that would break loose if we ran out of Corvair parts.
Hey guys, loving the Bombi build just wondering if there is an opportunity that you may be missing to extend the rear tray with a overhang to increase the useable area without affecting departure angles etc while improving functionality 🤔 however it is important to know that not a lot of use for it here in Australia so please take that into account as my experience is zero WRT snow things 🤷🏼
I am stoked to see you snag all those Corvair parts Matt! With the passage of time more and more older Corvair enthusiasts are dying off and there's a danger valuable parts collections will be lost to the scrap yards
Great episode. Bombi is looking great. Matt looking like a kid at Christmas when he walked in the corvair closet. And its definitely been a bit chilly in Florida these last few days. Not flip flop weather at all. 😅
"There is seriously something wrong with me" -Matt Yes. Let me count the ways... Too nice. Too skilled. Too loving. Too ambitious. Too accomplished. And often, too light without fuel!
@23bobjr yes he is, he helps them progress and has endlessly supported them even though they have moved on. Everyone has some downfalls but he is the guy he portrays. It's not a character
@@23bobjr Firstly not your business! then secondly It's HIS business and Is run how he sees fit. The old adage Is IF ITS TOO HOT IN THE KITCHEN THEN GET OUT!
@@23bobjr Entire team 5 people left. Lizzy got married and want to do the ranch work. Rudy started his own channel and is growing in his career. The other 3 left and there so much different information on that so what do you believe. Most started a RU-vid channel probably thought it was a easy way to make money. He is running a business as well. No one is perfect. People leave for all kind of reasons. There been a few TV car shows that came out and talked about what they was actually making and what the workers thought they was making and what the workers though they should be paid to be on the TV and guess what most of them was making nothing from the TV show.
If you want cold here in North Florida, wait until late January when temps drop into the teens/low twenties at night, then it rains during the days in the thirties. Wet cold, marvellous. 😂
I love episodes like this once in awhile 🎉❤ I love hearing how pissed Jamie was when you told her to write a check but she understands cuz she's used to you cuz she's your wife and accepts who you are 🦾
Tom Tom cutting and recutting those tubes reminded me of a Roy Underhill (The Woodwrights Shop) saying I think Matt would love. "Measurement is the enemy of precision!" 😅
I have the addiction just with sewing machines. Bernina Jeff has over 500. Mostly for parts. I have donated repaired machines to Native American reservations over 350 over the last few years. Even gave Paul one I fixed up. Keep up the great videos you entertain me.
Nothing wrong with having parts that can't be found easily. Nice trip guy's, amazingly you avoided running out of fuel ⛽️ 😅 Catlin is a great addition and will definitely fill a critical position with MORR. Lizzy will be proud of her taking on the choice to participate.
Matt, being able to articulate and acknowledge the problem is only the FIRST STEP, of many, to recovery from an addiction. Spiritually (in a non-religious sense) or financially! Good thing you're building a new shop to take the overflow from your storage sheds.
Road trips are the best, even better when you’re fuelling the hoarder addiction! Love watching you guys, it’s a great way to unwind after a busy day. Keep it up, love you all x
I rarely comment on videos, but I love your videos and rarely miss one. When you were at the second pick, and the gentleman commented about the pass through van having a dry cleaners logo on the side from Dauphin Island Parkway brought so much joy to me. I live off of Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, AL. My family has owned homes since the early 60's off of the parkway. My grandfather retired from Brookley Airforce base which is very close to Dauphin Island Parkway(D.I.P as locals call it). Also Guessed you were stopping at Felix's for lunch! Keep up the amazing work, your content brings joy to many people.
Love spending my morning with the Matt's Off Road Recovery team! Today we also get to enjoy Matt's "addiction" but without all the expense and hard work of loading and unloading all that STUFF, and see the sunny Caitlin stepping into Lizzie's shoes with her own happy style.
Come on Matt you are a great provider for your family, your addiction is not harmful, and it’s beneficial to your family, look at your son Rhett, he has his own Corvair and is learning to work on it etc. that’s an education in self reliance he is not going to get anywhere else. Well done!
*CORRR---VAAAAAAAAIRRRRRR!!* In the '60s, we had a '63 Monza. VERY practical! Roomy, comfortable, ALWAYS started - even in Colorado winters... Love the li'l buggers! Wish Nader hadn't killed them! Just needed to carry a spare fan belt, a 9/16" wrench and a tire gauge to avoid those "nightmare" problems that Ralphie expounded on.
You all bring so much joy in our weeks, thank you so much!! Your collection is one of the few that so many people have the chance to see! Plus all the support to your community! Cheers Matt and all!!
You're going to love that 12.3 Pro Dash by Holley! I recently added one to my K5 build and love it. You can easily add a fuel gauge with one sending unit wire in and setup the ohm ranget! I cant recall if you're using a Terminator X on the engine management, but it's super simple setup and all sorts of coos stuff can be added to the dash. Love all that good Holley Performance stuff!
@@poorfesor go back a couple of weeks and you’ll first see her rock crawling. Her and her father compete and she is impressive at it for her age. She gets her hands dirty.
I know exactly where you were at 16:25 when you stopped in traffic due to the road paving crew. We’ve driven down that steep hill many times and crossed the Pecos River just before getting to Roswell, NM. Fun video, and yes you have a fetish for Corvairs! My Dad bought one new back in about 1968 in SoCal for his commuter to downtown LA. It had an automatic transmission with a little T-handle shifter in the dash. Fond memories!
I think it’s awesome that you are collecting corrvair parts! Always do what you love, even if others think it’s weird lol. I’m always chasing parts or cars on marketplace.
I love all the Seinfeld references on this channel. As soon as you showed the shower head, I knew what was up. 😂 Can’t wait to see the Bombi in action this winter!
Well, it sounds like Jaymie realizes Matt has a problem as well from that response!!🤣 Katelyn is a great addition to the MORR team for sure and she will get the welding technique down with practice!!🙂
I’m telling you we all need a Jefe the guy just does everything he has to no complaining and always a smile. Matt’s a lucky guy to have people like that in his life. P.S. that’s not too bad a price for that adventure I would’ve thought the parts were way more than that.
With those kind of smaller trucks or large euro/box van your not going to get good mpg unless you keep it down around 50ish.. Always a choice between fuel and time "The diamater and circumfrence are always changing but the radius stays the same" Had to have a second "wait, what" moment before I remembered who I was watching. Love it. 🤣
Love watching and learning. Thanks so much. As far as Jamie, I wish I could meet a woman just like her. Matt, go ahead and buy whatever you need. Follow your dreams have fun you only live once. But don’t forget you do have somebody to share your life with. Her opinion is important.
Love it! A man who knows his addiction is a man comfortable with living who he is. Caitlin is awesome! You can't compare Lizzie. They are both different and unique bringing a lot to the table for the channel!
@@heartsky I couldn't care less. I mean she's fine, but she hasn't really added anything as of yet content wise. Unless you're just some kind of perv that like staring at her.
@@lyman135 you're not the target demographic. Having women on screen empowers other women and also adds a different dynamic to the group. Notice how nobody asked you, yet you felt the need to take down others. The old adage of "if you have nothing positive to say, don't say anything at all" is pretty true here.
Those parts stashes remind me of our garage when I was growing up. We had Corvairs since 1960, my dad was a hoarder, and worked at a Chevy dealership. More than one engine was built from parts sitting on those shelves.
How fate works is quite amazing, i have been unable to watch my favorite show lately and in part it’s is because i was busy fixing my wife’s, corvair. It’s a 1965 convertible that her mom purchased for her dad in the late 70s he sadly passed away very young from heart disease and the car was moved from Wayne, Pa to the panhandle of Ne. parked in a garage and basically sat there for almost 40 years. After many trips to its location i finally got it to run and was able to take her and her mom for a drive (what a feeling that was) recently her mom fell ill and she gave the car to my wife and now we have it here in not so western Ne. and ill admit im not a mechanic and i have never worked on a corvair EVER! We have been able to drive it and enjoy it here these last few weeks and i find a new repair each trip and it has been a challenge. So i sit down to watch an episode of your show and i pick this one. And then you pull from a box the 1 part i have not located that is needed. And that is the center cap for the horn. We have the original and it has a spring broken on the side so it will not stay in i have found used ones that are in horrible shape i have taken the springs off and tried to reattach them to the original and its a short drive until it on the floor. So i ask you now if you have another idea to repair that pop aluminum that it is made from i’m running low on material to work with and i fear ill ruin it. If you or your team has a nifty idea to fix it and would not mind sharing that i would be very appreciative. Love your channel stay safe!!
Welcome Caitlin, the shops been missing something since Lizzy is chasing new paths. Wishing you every success in learning to weld and creating new shenanigans.
This is not a bad deal for Kaitlynn. Think about it. She is learning fabrication and welding skills, gets to hone her rock crawling skills while learning off road recovery techniques, gets excellent RU-vid exposure to create a following, and all with a top notch group of friends - ( like Rhett) ! So what could go wrong? If and when she starts her own rock crawling fabrication channel I will be there! Side note; please tell us how to spell Kaitlynn, or Caitlyn or Catelyn or .... well you get it.
Great video. Awesome road trip for those valuable parts! I've been on the accumulating and decumulating end of car parts! The accumulating end offers more memorable experiences! Matt you are normal! So wonderful to see Katelyn (Please tell us how to spell her name in next video) has become part of the team. She seems to have a permanent smile which we all need! And bet Tom is as thrilled to be her shop mentor as she is thrilled to have him mentoring. Excellent addition(s)! Peace!
Bad addiction, man. Hard to quit, I love Corvairs too. I once added a Corvair engine to the back wheels of a Mini Cooper (while keeping the front engine, of course). I fell in love with that engine. I wanted one for my plane, never could do it.
The addiction description is spot on - makes you feel good and equally bad. I just upgraded skid plates on my 4Runner and am having those feelings. Need v Want with Want winning out this go round.
Matt, you should have come North on 35 to Temple, Tx and stopped at Bucee's, only 250 fuel pumps! Love Jayme's reply to your request for her to write a check. "For What?" Such enthusiasm in her voice!
Holley has an Easy Level fuel level sender. Why don’t y’all grab one of those? In fact, that’d make a great vid showing the install and calibration to your tank.
I understand completely Matt!! I have those feelings too. Not about Corvairs though. But Sears Garden tractors before 1980. Now were talking!! LOL!! I hope Jaymie isn't going to be too hard on you!! After all, you can't help it... right?! Looks like Tom and Katelynn (I probably butchered her name spelling) are getting some things done on the Bombi!! Great work guys!!!
Buffalo Joe has a similar ailment but his addiction is for DC 3 parts. It has enabled him to keep his fleet flying and he is now a source for rare and hard to find parts.
So Matt, your bad/weird decisions are an endless source of entertainment. You are a kindred spirit.aybe you should determine what you will need throughout the life of your corvairs, and sell the rest piece by piece. Make a nickel, and eventually your stash will be free after you sell the extras.
9:30 those vans are cool, my buddy's dad has used two of them since the 80's at his log cabin shack at a lake as storage sheds. We tried to buy them back in the late 80's because we loved them! I was way into VW's at the time, so the Corvair was a natural, but his dad wouldn't budge, he said they were too valuable as storage!
@charlesprimeau3245 🤣🤣 oh absolutely 100% it fits Paul from fabrats really well too its funny because I heard it growing up and used to say it occasionally and everyone looked me crazy then when Scotto and hooligan used it I went Holy crap I'm not the only one!
Trying not to get my hopes up. But Caitlin would be an awesome Edition to the recovery crew. Especially with her background in off-roading. And she obviously has talent with welding:) just like Lizzie and we miss her so much.
Hi. Could you lift the top bar on the dash a few inches so there is a gap between it and the bottom frame of the windscreen and use that gap as the heater vents, that way you wont need to cut into the dash face. Cheers MD
We all saw Lizzie mature and blossom into fun loving skilled fabricator and she is missed. Caitlin or Kaitlyn or Kaitlin we need to know how it's spelled 😂😂😂. It will be interesting to see how she fits in. Knowing this group and the shenanigans that goes on. She'll be fine. Best wishes to her and welcome to the family.
"Caitlin or Kaitlyn or Kaitlin" None of the above actually, 😁 her name is Katelynn Boren. She is 16-17 years old, and she won the Miss Hurricane Pageant 2023 in March. Her and her dad Kevin have their own rock crawling RU-vid channel: Kevin's off-roading @Kevins-offroading.
@@ITubeTooInc Is it like a super small like community thing? Because when you type in her name and the pageant info nothing comes other than maybe an Instagram photo.
Retro fit a roll bar hoop on the rear most part of the bed. Find 2 seats that will fit in the 45° ish areas plus seat belts. Hang a suitable tool box outside the rear frame work plus the roll bar/hand hold at the cab and yur done
I once boughtg an 8-door Greenbriar van and after accidently finding an 140 HP Corsa engine I installed that engine. What a difference. At 70 MPH it would average 20 MPG. The only thing I did not like was the mobile smog bank if you tried to use the heater. I woprked at a small electronics repair shop. When we would get a 5' TV console we wouild open both side doors and walk through the van to load it.
