I have some options for you to consider the next time she shows up. 1). Call the police 2). Call the police 3). Call the police Which ever one you choose, rest assured it's the correct response.

Listen to me Chelsea, as a Mum of two girls, this worries the crap out of me! I know that you are a kind, sympathetic, helpful and empathetic person, and "Charley" figured that out very quickly too. My advice, is *stop* being so bloody nice! Next time and *every* time "Charley" appears at the door or on the porch, the first thing you should do is take a picture of her with your phone. Tell "Charley" to leave and that you are calling the landlord and the Police. Keep written notes and phone pics/videos as evidence. Don't engage in chit chat with "Charley", if she talks, use your phone to record any conversation/interaction. If "Charley" still insists she has "stuff" in the house, call the landlord and ask the Police to accompany for the collection of "stuff". Tell ALL the tenants in the building to keep all exterior doors locked. "Charley" could potentially bring a whole host of problems your way, please use your landlord and Police to sort this problem out. It is NOT your responsibility to sort it . Painted up windows?...………….that is a fire risk! How the hell are you supposed to get out of the house if the main door exit is barred by fire/flames? Landlord needs to rectify this ASAP. I knew a homeless woman who was intelligent, polite, and articulate. She was also a convicted felon, had a severe opioid addiction, had warrants for her arrest, and was a chronic liar. Charlie has to learn that everytime you see her on the property that the police will be called. Call everytime without fail. I hope she is not using. Assume everything she tells you is a lie. There may be some truth in some of the things she says, but for the most part, she is taking advantage of your kindness to gain access to the house.

i know this is going to seem cold, but from now on I would suggest you call your local police and tell them about the situation, it will be a good thing to do in case the situation escalates. you are a very kind person, and she for sure is going to take advantage. be careful

anyone else concerned that the window wouldn’t open?! i’m always thinking about escape routes and those windows are suppose to open. Call your landlord about that.

Had a homeless guy live in the stairwell of my old apartment. Its very easy to sympathize and get frustrated or angry all at the same time lol.

Chelsea...this is a nightmare! First of all, you are not responsible for security and keeping people out! That landlord is responsible! It’s scary that she knows how to enter your specific apartment! I would get a simple video camera setup for the front door. They aren't much and you will know if she keeps showing up, or anyone else for that matter. Also, as other's here have said, contact the police and let them know what is happening so that if it escalates they are already aware of the situation and know who they are dealing with. One last comment...with regard to her "friend", the guy upstairs. If it's even true that he knows her, what is going to happen when he comes back? (will he let her stay there? Or can the landlord not allow that?) You might want to ask your landlord to contact him if she can about it and see if he is even aware of this person. (if not, let the police know that as well).... PS - Not exactly the stress relief you were looking for...but I'm rooting for you and hope that it eventually will be.

If you have a written lease, Charly is trespassing, not squatting, get rid of her legally. That's what cops are for.

I know a US Army Ranger Afghanistan veteran. He came back to his house and found squatters and initially the sheriff wouldn't do anything. He told the sheriff it's my house, I'm moving in with them, and some of them are going to leave horizontally. The sheriff realized he wasn't kidding and evicted them.

I am really sorry this happened to you. I had a similar event about 18 months ago which thankfully lasted only a few hours rather than several days. A homeless woman had been staying in my house under a church program and was supposed to leave at 10 in the morning and was gone when I went to work at 8. When I came home at 6PM she and her boyfriend had broken back in and it was very similar to what happened to you. Stories about being told they could stay there longer, they had no where to go, needed to get some things left in the house, etc etc. We finally got them to leave at 10PM by agreeing to drive them over a half hour away to a new homeless half way house they were staying at. Looking back, I would not have been so nice if I had to do it over again. I hope this woman you spoke about didn't bother you again.

So did you (all of you that live in the building) finally contact the owner of the house? Did the owner give you guys $$ for the cost of the locks? Ohhh....I'd be getting something like Simply Safe and let her know "Look, I've been pleasant, nice. You come here again FOR any reason and I am calling the COPS....it's okay to be nice, but I think she's just going to continue with this. Getting the law involved is your best bet....I'd bet $$ that she has a criminal record and if you call the cops they will find a warrant and she's going to be taken to jail. That is scary....Oh....I am so glad I own my own house! :) Feel bad for you! :(

Never let someone into your home because you never know if they have something to hurt you. Even if they do look harmless. Play it smart. And I do wonder who the person she said she was apparently “ friends “ with thought when he/she/they arrived home..

Drama, drama, sweetie you are being very kind, however it may come down to your safety. You don’t know this person and know of her intentions or a possibility of a criminal record. You have been nice , but now you have to start a paper trail bye calling the police and notifying the landlord of her continuing harassment and trespassing. i just found your channel, and ive been straight BINGING your storytimes/van life vids and I feel like i relate to a lot of the things you say, especially when it comes to topic of panic disorders, as i struggle with one myself.. I have been wanting to travel across country (canada) and the states of america (with my doggo) for years. Contact the local Police department ( Tell your landlord) and find out what options you have to get her the help she needs. It is obvious she barely can help herself. Tbh when she was asking if she could sleep on ur porch I felt a bit iffy. If I was living in a place like that and someone asked if they could sleep on the porch out of being homeless, I would say no. The place where I sleep, eat, shower, live, is my safe haven. I wouldn’t want a complete stranger like that being anywhere near my house regardless of their living conditions. My safety comes first before anything. I’m an extremely nice person but I know where to draw the line. U can never let ur guard down. Before anyone says that I wouldn’t be willing to help the homeless, I would, but there’s people around where I live who go on the streets begging for money and make it seem like their homeless when in reality they have really nice houses and cars and just making their money off of begging so that makes it hard to know if ur helping the right person. My dad and I were on the road one day and this guy had a cardboard sign begging for money but then we saw him pull a tablet out of his backpack with a really nice case on it. Makes it kind of hard to trust who ur giving ur money to.

You have a good heart. This situation is dangerous. You need to put your foot down and just call the cops next time she comes. Again. Dont mess around. This women needs to go somewhere else. I know what you mean about trying to be helpful and not cause any chaos, however you need to get pissed, stand your ground and call cops asap, otherwise I guarantee shes never going to go away. I have hundreds of skeleton keys. You can get them in lots of junk or antique stores. Definitely change those locks up to something more modern. Stay safe girlie!!

If this continues, you have to call police to simply file a report. You need a paper trail in case you need to get out of the lease in the future. Document on video each interaction, this could get very ugly in the future, or turn out just to be a funny story to tell.

Homeless lady must be removed. She is living off you for free and unfortunately expects to live this way. Fortunately she is not your relative. In my case, my brother is homeless and expects me to support him. The good part is that he lives in another county, sleeps in his car, and gets food from edb card.

Fyi, I am looking forward to you doing more videos on local parks, rivers, creeks, and lakes. Squatters, stalkers or people with mental issues can be scary. Protect yourself accordingly. That's creepy. I know that in the US you have a problem with homeless people so maybe this is more normal to you. In my country the government makes sure everyone has a home and an address. We don't have a homeless problem.

It's nice of you to have sympathy, but she needed the cops called on her the moment you discovered her. And, for YOUR safety, you could have grabbed a hammer or knife or something, in case she tried anything. Don't let people walk over you. That's one week that you should have had peace. That was your first week back in a house after three years of traveling, and she ruined your first week of settling in.
