I was binging on Peyton Place a few years ago. It was fascinating...then it became dark. Very dark...😐

Is this a show recommendation? I was tempted.

@@DustinReckling I highly recommend it! Especially the first black and white episodes. The beginning was fascinating. 😏

@@miapdx503 I second that. I enjoyed the show and it features a young Mia Farrow.

The Peyton Place film theme song is lush and beautiful. It was used in the TV series also.

I didn't even mention the score! It's extremely orgiastic at times, but still so full and grandiose. Definitely enhances the film's aesthetic.

Very interesting analysis. Made me want to go back and re-watch and re-read "Peyton Place". I was a teen in the 70s and saw the movie with my mom on the late movie on tv. My mom told me what a bombshell it was in the 50s and it had us discussing sex, rape, and incest, things we had never discussed before. A pretty influential movie in my life, for that reason alone.

100% very liberating discussion surrounding those topics, from a mainstream source no less! I think if the book had been more eloquently written it would find itself within literary canon. Also glad the film didn't go full Dynasty or Dallas and make a campy farce from its source material.
