Sean, T, and Cathy this is a truly amazing piece of work! A beautiful piece, watched the live stream. Better than Gibson. You fixed the issues that Gibson had! That grain flop ! I really believe that the headstock modification is the most important change that you made. Smooth like Dave Alvin’s 55 Strat in single coil! His version of Johnny Ace is Dead you can hear it !

Dang Sean...I can see why it's called the reaper, because it's killing all the competition! Gibson good looks and full sounds and with the coils split it's got all that telecaster twang and punch. You guys knocked it out of the park..no... the Galaxy! Just started a new job so cash is low right now but hopefully there's going to be more runs of these beautiful beasts.

That Reaper looks amazing and sounds killer. Great job on the pickup design, Kathy! The whole package just screams rock-n-roll. The only thing I’d change would be the knobs. Any guitar I play out with gets black knobs with white numbers and those little pointers so I can see my settings under the black lights.

Volute does nothing to prevent breakages. If it's not laminated or properly quarter-sawn it needs a scarf joint.

Those pickups sound surprisingly great! Even the single coils sounds rich, bright and snappy! You almost never get that in splittable hums.

That is absolutely a great build quality. IYV seemed to hit it out of the park especially on color. Sound great as well. Really good choice to dump the China builder and go with IYV.

The "Reaper" font on the Truss rod cover is bad and immediately lets the guitar down. Looks like text out of a school book.

It seems weird to me that a killer, custom guitar maker would commission a Chinese factory to make guitars for him. Hehe. But just about every manufacturer, big and small, hire out for off shore, more affordable guitars. It allows them to sell to customers with smaller budgets. This guitar looks awesome. My only worry is the pickups. I don't care what kind of business you are in, saving money is always going to be high on your priority list. It would not surprise me if they disregarded the specs for Kathy designed pickups and just threw whatever they had laying around..and just put the alnico magnets in them. That would be my first assumption. But maybe Sean is working with a totally straight up and honest manufacturer and they didn't cut corners to make extra money off of him.

Nice. The single coil mode is very much what I would buy a Telecaster for, if I ever bothered, and it delivers as H-H. Probably helps me to like it that you use my favourite amp setting, too, edge of breakup with a good dose of presence

Honest to goodness, Sean and Cathy, this was a true brainstorm brought to reality. That high horn is perfect, and having the strap button back there is good positioning. The sounds coming out of it are much how I like my HH to sound, it is worth the $875, which is a good price. I wish I had the money, because that purple is calling me!

I like that you designed the pickups like you wanted and paid homage to the Les Paul. I like that you made the angle shallower, the locking tuners and the straight line to the tuners should really help with tuning stability and cool neck carve, it sounds purty damn good and seems to be good quality. That said, the look is not for me, I don't care for the top horn being so big. I kinda feel like you should have made it either symmetrical or maybe just a smidge longer on top. Just my opinion, maybe if I played it I would fall in love, who knows.

After staring at this thing for two weeks I think I finally like it. It isn’t for me but I can see the tall and long top horn and body being a benefit for bigger dudes. I used to be very thin and played Gibson sgs at reheard and gigs and bigger dudes would tell me that the little body makes it a challenge for them to play but they like the look. This is perfect for them. Also, I can see this guitar becoming a huge doom metal cult classic model. Great job Sean and Kathy

Missing an inlay on the first fret... Maybe next time. The yellow plastics look cheap/Bad. Needs black plastics, switch tip/Humbucker rings vs the Ugly Yellow. It also NEEDS Chrome pickup covers, Zebra bobbins are UGLY AF. Design looks decent. Maybe the "Reaper" FONT could be a bit more glamourous? Just some suggestions. You asked. hahaha! Cheers!

@scarmyguitar man it's so cool that you're having your own guitars made. I'm legit happy for you. Glad to see you're inspecting them yourself and taking care of any issues. I think for what you're asking for them, you oughtta polish the frets real nice too. I understand these aren't Gibson prices. But still a bit spendy. The tobacco burst is probably my favorite so far. I'd snag one but I cant justify the budget right now. A dark cherry burst would look siiiick!! I hope to see more models in the future. And if you did a bass, I'd jump right on that 💩! (Bass is currently paying the bills so i can justify that, lol) Keep doing the thing!!

I would like to see you do a video on how you intonate a guitar.

The difference between coil tap and coil split is that a tap is just that. Somewhere along one of the coils, they tap in a wire. That way, they retain some of the humbucking function. A true coil split can be found on Gibsons from the early 80's. I had one. The difference in sound between the two is very noticeable. A coil tap is much less treble than a true coil split. I also have a Gibson with coil tap for comparison. There really is no comparison. Coil split is def the way to go, even if there is a bit more 60 cycle hum. Makes for a much more versatile guitar.

Is the hardware imperial or metric? I would guess metric being made in Asia, but thought I'd ask anyway.

Man oh man never thought I'd see a Scarbson

I own a Korean guitar made by Crafter. I lived in Korea an actually toured the factory in Yangju-gun, just outside Seoul and they make killer guitars. I ended up buying a Crafter KGAE-27 Prestige Grand Auditorium acoustic w/ LR Baggs pre-Amp. The Koreans build some nice stuff IMO. Awesome looking guitar Shawn.

Shawn thats and nice guitar but you're still going to have competition with Harley Benton and Firefly, I thought you were going to make a real nice guitar for about 400, but I didn't really think it's possible it's hard to compete with big companies😢 I have a Ibanez gold top made in Korea it's a really nice guitar but the electronics on it suck

I think a Grim Reaper or Scythe would look better on the Truss-Rod cover. The Reaper Font looks off to me. Ebony Fingerboard would have been sweet too.

@scarmyguitar my friend, you are a genius, so many people know how to do what you show , hell even I do here recently since my last buying spree, I jumped on the temu and seen what glarry was all about. Um shocking news not a whole lot out of the box, so I cleared out a spot and set each up, now you probably know why I bought 3 all srtrat models no less. I know I lost my mind,, well maybe, but I wanted to see if I could tell build quality from 6 to 6 turns out yeah each one had different things wrong even though they all were supposed to be made in same place. What????! Now I know if you do it by hand, there is supposed to be difference in space and design,, watched my dad do it for his 6's yeah he put the time in and brain power in and built his, so I have to ask after so many of these factory made ones why is it different things wrong? I mean it is a machine if kept in good condition and calibration is right and set right shouldn't the work come out right? Do they not teach set up in China? I don't know? Though if they do maybe a compliant worker is not the best worker or they have no interest in what they are doing, can't say for sure. But it's weird, now yeah I had to set them all 3 up since China you know. But wires were in broke, perhaps in shipping, but one needed a new bridge as it was to big for the foot print and everything got mashed and turned, no this ones wiring was sound and it is as plain as the nose on your face it was wrong so they should have caught it fret board needed oil no dings or dents, and electronic wise well I mean they were all under 130$ so weak not horrible sounding but weak. Cheap wood, light weight, but hey that can be a good thing if you got it on your shoulder or lap for hours, these are starter 6 strings so once set up they should be killer to play on, I have found my 3 to be most enjoyable. Now price wise I bought the cheapest I could find at 3am. One was. 79, another was 99, the last 120, I checked them all out and made notes, 79 one internet hates, I rarely find a decent review of it, problem is other than thin light wood it was fine other than cheap electrical, sounds good for that metal sound chug, clean not bad, so I guess I got really lucky or from a year ago they really started making theses things better, it was the burning flame one. The real bad one broke wire connections and bad bridge was the glarry srat stx I believe which was 120 as I got the cheapest amp I have ever seen with it, long story short, took 3 days to make that one look new set up and bridge replacement, there was some other things not quite right but this is a short list of what it took to make it play and hold tune, now I was unhappy about the bridge but I payed 120 for this set, amp is unusable if turned up it just farts, and it was the wrong bridge out of the box new, um WTH???? Then there is a small issue of the pickups not being right, I have no idea who's problem this one is, probably temu, but I bought a strat with double humbuckers and middle one a single coil, what I pulled out of the box is 3 single coil pick ups. This was a test I was doing and all electronics will eventually get replaced,, but that is a different sound than 2 Hummers and a single, sounds decent for what it is but that's not what I bought for 120, I can let the amp go as free dog poo. But they need to get the advertising right, now oddly enough that 99 dollar one came out fine even turned almost frets stainless steel polished no hang or burs, body was even heavier, not heavy but heavier, color was right action a little high but not bad for under 200 and no known set up. Now in full disclosure I have to tell you yes I got 3 strat like 6 strings, problem was I ordered 2 strat like 1 telie like, lol guess when ordering a few at a time from temu you better be ready to either return it or eat your cost, and as this one was my only telie I have tried to return it several times and still have not received my telie. So a strat sits here in played but I'm sure I'll get back to it, but yeah other than cheap electric, some set up and who don't go through a axe they plan to play a lot and not make sure it's set up right? So all in all I call this one a win if I had ordered it?!? But you sir take me back to sitting in the garage with my dad and learning and watching him work. We need more people like you still doing it the older way by hand and feel and sound, truth is yeah you can buy a bunch of fancier tools but you don't have to you just need to have the time and the right tools. Thanks for taking me back to a time when the world didn't seem quite so messed up, and reminding me that there are some people that still believe that it ain't so bad to do work where it's still either right, or it's not. Simple. Also that woman of yours she contributes to the hobby and is your camera person as well, I know it's fake but every time she clocks you one I bust a gut
