And why are you so annoyed by her wanting to share a cutesy loving moment with her long distance boyfriend, but are rushing to the defense of billy who was consistently shitty (and let's not forget racist) just because he had a tragic background? Mourn billy's what-could-have-been all you want, but leave the girl alone. She came in clutch, and unquestioningly stepped up when dustin asked her to, not because she knew there was a monster on the loose, but because a person she loved told her it was important. She is kind and sweet and innocent and doesn't deserve to be ragged-on just because she doesnt have the angst, cynicism or world weariness that seems to be the requirement to be a story book hero these days.
The Hopper backstory about Agent Orange was something that actually happened. Alot of Vietnam vets came back to the states and got serious forms of cancer due to exposure. As did some people's children.
Yes. I'm the kids' age-was their age in that day, grew up in that time. And my dad is Hopp's age, is 85 now, and was a Vietnam vet who is 100% disabled, having successfully fought cancer from agent orange.
Well, these stories are easy to use because so many kids really don’t listen to anything in history or civics. I really hated history as a kid because not one teacher I had made a way to connect to history in any kind of “why does this matter to me” kind of way. Older now, I’ve done more actual reading about things that happened in the past than I ever did as a student. Might be fun to spend a year coming up w a curriculum for younger kids and show up in costumes with props and guests and skits etc to engage them..give them fun projects to do rather than say “memorize all these dates cause they’re on the test..”

I don't understand why they don't get this. It's very obvious everyone in the comments already knows these things like Hop and Brenner being alive and were purposefully trying to deter them from figuring it out so they'd be surprised when they found out. Billy tried to save El and asked for forgiveness for what he did to Max. But other than that, he didn't do anything heroic or noble. So, I don't understand this outpouring of sympathy towards him. It's ugly what happened to him, but it's also not the saddest or most unfair death in the show. And unlike Spartan, I love Suzy.
If we saw some kindness from Billy at the beginning of the season before he was taken over by the mind flayer, then he would be a sympathetic character. The fact he wasn't an awful person when he was a little kid does not make all the cruel and violent things he did redeemable.
i kinda get it, he was a victim of an abusive father, i empathize with him for that as well and I teared up when he died, it's just that they don't seem to want to acknowledge that he was a racist and that is still true after his death and the heroic act of saving el

I think the hate for Suzi is the song from season 3 from the movie Neverending Story which I'm guessing they've never seen. They're also the only reactors that haven't liked the song.

Well El brought him out of it and he didn't die from all the chemicals so I don't know how that worked lol maybe the mind flayer absorbed all the chemicals so when it leaves the host the host is okay lol who knows but she delayed it long enough for hope and Joyce to not have been able to turn the keys on time and I don't know if closing the gate would have killed Billy if they didn't while the mind flayer was still in him like they thought it would with Will in season 2. So Billy still might have died but at least Hopper would have been able to close the gate on time and he would not have been stuck in Russia
Bro, read the room. Billy obviously has some similarities in his life thats relatable to them. Maybe a tough father figure or step father who was overly abusive and toxic masculinity that they had to face and overcome in their own life. It's possible one of them had leaned the same way as Billy and had hope in his redemption arc as a way to express their own redemption for their own mistakes. Maybe they just like his actor and the behind the scenes changes he brought to Billy that shined through that they enjoy. Chill with the hate especially when you see how much it means to them.
No, Billy was already dead as his physical body had been transformed by multiple unknown toxic chemicals and whatever the creature pumped into his body. He was only being animated by the power of the Mind Flayer..
Pilot and aviation nerd here. The AN-2 Antonov plane in this episode literally has no stall speed. All they had to do was pull the yoke back all the way and the plane would just gently descend all the way until touchdown. Just incase anyone finds themselves in that situation.

It was a biplane way after it was needed or popular so it legit has more glide than engine because the engine was "modern" for an aircraft that was supposed to be 30 years earlier. In south Korea they legit are scared of these things because they can turn off the engine and glide NK commandos in..

27:00 This in my mind is one of the most well-written scenes in the entire show. She starts off so convinced at his karate abilities, and as they continue to talk, she becomes increasingly less sure of his abilities and he becomes increasingly more sure of himself. Murray is such a great character, perhaps one of my favorites.
Sparty worships him so much because Billy plays the tough guy. Sparty boy, being an Aussie, mistakenly thinks he's a tough guy too. It's a weird Aussie mentality and has been around for many many decades. His whole mantra in life is "Gotta look tough, I'm not a wuss".
Blaming Suzie for Billy dying was wack af! Billy died because he succumbed to the Mind Flayer wayyyy before the end! He died because he knew that after all the poor innocent people died and became mush because of him, he had no other choice but to sacrifice himself! Suzie had no idea what was truly even happening and just heard from her boyfriend for the first time in a week! She was literally like 12/13 years old, and this was probably her first boyfriend, so she would naturally have that innocent playfulness about her when first hearing from him.
Every time they bring up Billy and say, if this and this would of happened he would still be alive. They never remember that if you are still connected to the Mind Flayer when the gate closes then you die. It was a whole giant plot at the end of season 2 that El couldn't close the gate until they got the Mind Flayer out of Will, and then they completely forget that part when it comes to Billy

The cringiest scene in the entire show for sure. She was a completely unnecessary character they added just to make Dustin not be alone. I hope she isn't even in season 5 because her scenes are always cringe and boring.
I don't think that it's about you not believing that some of the characters are dead, it's the fact that you believe "unimportant" characters are still alive haha Barb was not a character that would be likely to come back, but Hopper was, because he's one of the main characters. There's also the fact that we never saw the dead bodies of any of the characters that survived.

It was maybe a little more focus on Billy than usual, but I've seen other fans want a little chance to see the redemptive good side of Billy too. So I was...QUITE surprised by how enraged the comments got hahaha. My thing about Billy is that the Duffers said that in season 2, Billy would've definitely killed Steve. He had it in him. If it hadn't been for Max, Steve would've died. Are you in love with Dacre because he's Aussie???
Nothing was saving Billy. Nothing. If anything, the delay MAY have affected Hopper's death. But Billy was a goner. And he got the best send off he could, given the buildup of the character.

Billy stepping in at the last second doesn’t make him a hero of the story. Susie’s the real hero and the gate wouldn’t have closed without her. All Billy got was redemption but we never liked him up until that point. They only made you feel sympathy for him bc he was the victim of last season

As much as I love your guy’s reaction I gotta say.. 1) Billy would’ve died either way cuz he was controlled by the Mindflayer. So Suzie’s song had nothing to do with it really 2) Spartan’s hate for a little girl is so weird. very conveniently forgetting Suzie doesn’t actually know the truth about anything either. She’s just a kid 3) No one enjoyed seeing Billy’s death & everyone sympathized with his struggle but he made ZERO effort to right his wrongs, to be a better person, be a better brother. He was a person full of hate & did nothing to work on it. So THIS CRAZY amount of love for him is kinda weird cuz somehow everything gets connected to him like he’s some tragic hero. He isn’t. He’s just someone who lived an unfair life & died in an unfair circumstance.

I guess you're too young to remember what a dial up modem sounds like. Before broadband you had to dial a phone number to get on the internet. That noise they heard on the payphone was very nostalgic for those of us who first went online using a modem and AOL software on our computer.

The rich jock who's better than everyone but clearly peaking in high school was pretty common in 80s movies and rarely redeemed. But Steve actually turned out to be a good guy. Also, it's fucking creepy, okay? Jonathan taking pictures of Nancy NEVER got the shit it should've for being creepy af, and he DESERVED to have his camera broken. Fuck Jonathan.
And yet at the same time both Brenner and hopper should be dead. There is no way either should've survived and we are never given an explanation as to how they did it. ST is usually good about explaining their nonsense, but these are two of the biggest "well, you just gotta accept it" moments of the show. Absolute cheats.
I don't understand the Billy obsession either. Max rules this season especially episode four. That is how I felt when the episode aired not later. Suzy is adorable and precious. The singing with Dustin is one of my 😍 scenes in Stranger Things.
It's one of my favorite childhood memories, but who cares if they don't like it? I never liked Saving Private Ryan or Forrest Gump, so? Should I like them because of people doing it? I scratch my ear when it itches, not when people scratch their. Let's not be like that, getting over people's tastes. It's wasted time.

My uncle builds planes, flying his whole life. Has crashed twice now in his personal planes and survived with less damage then i took in my car accident. This is one of those real world vs hollywood things where what you think is not real is based actually on what you have learned from non accurate tv and movies. Similar to most peoples views on the "wild west" or whats actually possible in space etc...
Hop's backstory about Vietnam, Agent Orange, and the kids of soldiers being born with serious conditions and defects... there's a song called Uncommon Valor with a verse from R.A. The Rugged Man where he recounts his father's experience in Vietnam and the effects it had on his children, all being born with defects, one dying. R.A. also suffered conditions, himself because of it. Shit is not a joke.

In the Dungeons & Dragons universe, "Mind Flayers" and other entities come from what's known as the "Astral Plane" ; which I feel is the equivalent of what the "Upside Down" is to represent.
I think people innately expect others to react the way they do and when there's a difference in thought process or opinion they can get pretty nasty, especially when its something that evokes passion.
I will say this now since they are done with this season. I’m surprised they didn’t catch on right away that #1 was vecna because the very first thing he said (3 times actually) was “You finally decided to join us”. And that’s what vecna was saying, he wanted his victims to join him.
21:45 - Will is secretly in love with Mike. Obviously Will can't ask to date Mike since he's currently dating El. It's pretty obvious once you start watching the interactions between Will and Mike in all of the seasons, especially in seasons 3 and 4. In season 3, Mike does say "it's not my fault you don't like girls." I personally think Will has had a crush on Mike for a while, but he couldn't get the courage to say anything. Maybe this will be resolved in season 5.
@@floridaman.813 Yeah, Will knows Mike doesn't like guys, so he doesn't try to force him to. Will just doesn't want to lose him as a friend either. There's a lot of gay people that don't understand that. They think that if a gay person likes you, then you are required to be gay with them. While also claiming that if a straight person likes them, too bad.
I've always felt sympathy for Billy too. They say that the children of abusers either become protectors or abusers themselves. His story was a slide into becoming an abuser like his father, but miraculously he became a protector instead.
you're just forgetting that he was, in fact, an abuser like his father. he treated women with disdain, used psychological violence against max, was racist towards lucas and was going to kill steve in season 2 if max didn't stop him. 1 second of redemption before dying does not turn him into a protector.

This season, Millie Bobby Brown did not shave her head. The only time she really shaved her head for playing El was season 1. And now that the actors have grown up, young El was portrayed by a younger actor but edits made to put Brown's head, so it still looks like her.

I just don't understand the Billy love, he had a bit of a redeeming moment in the final episode of season 3, and I can see feeling a bit sorry for him, but let's face it....he was a shi++y person. He didn't deserve to die the way he did, but I personally feel more sympathy for all the other victims of the Upside Down. Where is the love for innocent Barb, or heroic Bob, or even sweet Alexei. Billy was racist and a bully who treated Max like shi+.
In Season 2 Episode 7 when El was in Chicago with Kali, the former guard said that Brenner was alive. Kali said, it he was, then Jane would find him. But Jane (El) left them soon and returned to Hawkins, and since she was not interested in revenge - unlike Kali - he never tried to find him. It is strange that Brenner survived both the massacre at Hawkins Lab (the first episode in Season 4), and then also the demogorgon attack at the end of Season 1.
It was clear that Hopper survived from the post-credit scene of Season 3, and Brenner's survival was hinted at in Season 2, Episode 8. Those who missed these clues might not have been paying close attention-often the same people who are fans of Billy. 😉 Just kidding (sort of). Also, ridiculous hate for Suzie, which will hopefully change in the next entertaining Episode 6. Her song tested off the charts with audiences, similar to how Johnny B. Goode tested in a similar bad-timing scenario in the classic Back to the Future (which you still haven't watched). Additionally, the theory that characters aren't truly dead unless their bodies are shown will be addressed in Spartan and Pudgey's RU-vid episode on 7/28/24 unless the release dates are delayed. I'm not spoiling anything since Spartan and Pudgey's Season 4 viewing has been completed for a while (in real time).

@@MouseInYourEye here's a few examples..... there's a chain of food stores in North America called Super Valu..... in Oz they are actually named Supa Valu. the city of Cairns is pronounced like "Cans" of beer. try asking someone from Perth to say the phrase..... "someone who winks a lot is a frequent winker" just saying Ozzies tend to use an "A" sound instead of "R" at the end of words especially..... just diff... sorta like people from Boston say "pahk the cah in Hahvahd Yahd".

Billy was dead from the first episode. The clue we were given was him drinking chemicals at the pool (when he imagined slamming Mrs. Wheelers head into the shelves). The mindflayer was using him as it's right hand man.

My bad, it was an organ in the Scooby-doo episode. The gang follow the sound of an organ playing. They find the organ and then see something written down on a music book. It reads "Feed the organ, and watch the floor". Scooby begins playing the organ, but the doors lock and the walls begin to close in! Scooby starts playing as fast as he can to try and undo whatever activated the trap, eventually succeeding in making the walls stop. Velma deduces that Feed refers to the musical notes F-E-E-D. Playing the notes, a trapdoor opens and the gang climb down steps to the catacombs. There they find the other heirs inside coffins, and one more coffin that is empty and dog shaped.
