When I had to fix a flat on my KS18XL, a few of my hanger screws were super loose too. Yes, KingSong is also a little lacking in quality control.

I just started to experience this as a "grumbling vibration" especially when braking hard and now even sometimes when simply trollying. I recently removed the pedals and had to straighten one pedal retaining rod and these issues began AFTER that work. This culprit looks totally plausible, I'm going to go back in there and check them, thanks... **UPDATE: Yes, each side had all hanger screws loose - 3 of them on each side were finger-loose! Tightened down, will test ride later...

242 Loctite and a torque wrench are your friends. I will almost guarantee you that the factory uses a torque driver to set the torque on those screws. Just using hand tools and no threadlocker, you are likely to have to revisit this fix. SHCS would be even better in this application and allow you to torque them much, much better if you don't have a torque screwdriver.

@@Duf Yes, if you poke around on RU-vid there is a guy that goes to the Immotion factory and builds his own OneWheel. While doing so, he uses multiple hanging electric drivers. When the screws are driven, the last thing you will hear when the screws are set is a click. That click is a set torque spec being consistently achieved. KS has to do this too, because there is no way in hell in a production setting a worker can hand crank screws to proper and identical torque all day long. Search Torque Screwdriver on Amazon. There are lots of choices. Torque specs for hardware of a given size are well documented, and as a rule, the proper values for 4mm and larger bolts/screws are much more than you would imagine.

I probably would have used a little thread locker on the screws. Nothing too strong but something to prevent them backing out.

It is interesting that the loose screws on both sides were the center ones and then the 4 that were all facing toward the front or the back (I couldn't tell from the video) of the wheel. I am glad that you found and fixed the problem. I made a note to self to pop the covers off of my wheel every so often and inspect what is going on in there.

243 locktite on all threads (metal screw in metal thread). Totally nuts just to "tighten" screws on a vehicle and hope they stay tight. Especially a vehicle with no suspension! 👍🤓

Yea if they come loose again I will loctite them although I had never heard of KingSong pedal hangers coming loose before.

Hey Duf. Thanks for this video. My 16X has started to make the same noise. I’ll follow your video directions and hopefully I can fix my 16X noise issue. Also, I’m considering wheather or not to upgrade the motor on my 18XL. Ride safe🙏

i was build on a lazy friday afternoon with drill battery low charged😂 i actually never trust impact drill or wrench i always double check by hand tight it. almost lost a wheel on a trailer during a moving with carying 800lbs 10 years ago. lesson learn back then. i like you comments Duf good video👍🏻

Thanks for the video duf. I'll be checking mine! Imagine if all the screws came loose on a ride and you were at speed.... on a side note, are your pedals loose on the hangar? Axial play/bolt seems to small for the hanger hole?

Use a blue threadlocker for those bolts. Loctite 243 for example

Hi Duf, My Mten 3 grunts and grates at super low speed and hi torque, such setting off or coming to a stop. Is this your experience? On a side note I am looking for a bigger wheel i.e. a wheel similer to my Mten. I find the Mten superbly intuitive and safe. It goes where I think, I could probably read a book whilst going to work. My Ninebot E + on the other hand is a monster waiting to kill me. Can you recommend a wheel with similar characteristics to the Mten. I notice you have all the wheels I have. I dont go fast at all but I like power. I imagine the 16X to be similar to the Mten. I have no chance of trying out wheels, so your input would be appreciated.

It could be same issues that I had with my mten3. It makes strange noises at low speed. Tighten the hexagon socket screws which rotating with the wheel fixed the problem for me

My Mten3 is a little grunty but it was like that from day one. I have never opened it up. Well to be honest, the Mten 3 is in a class by itself, nothing is like it IMO. However a fat tired wheel like a 16X does offer good low speed handling and agility. It doesn't feel anything like a Mten3 but might be my overall favorite because of it's blend of handling, power, and flexibility.
