My wife back in 2019 owned MBA Retina i5 and at early 2021 upgraded to MBA M1. At first time I tried to stop her for buying it, cause i'm not believed that "iPhone" processor can be so fast to power laptop. But after a month of using it and comparing to Intel MBA I came to shop and buy second MBA M1 at our family. All I want to say, after 3 years that's the best laptor I ever owned. My diploma was written on it, many programs developed and many schemes. Best buying

Spent today editing a 4K video in Final Cut Pro on my 2020 MacBook Air M1 with 8GB or RAM. On a 4K external display. No glitches, no slowdowns. They truly are great machines.

The M1 MacBook Air will definitely be a fondly remembered classic, right up there with the 2015 Retina, 2012 Univody and the G4s.

I absolutely love my m1 air! The performance it gave me without overheating was great, and battery life was even better than my windows laptop. The switch to ARM was so seamless.

I just scored a MacBook Air M1 (256gb, 16gb) recently for only $500! It really can't be beat...it just can't, I am blown away with the value for the money on MacBook Air M1's right now

Just gifted my daughter my M1 Air when I decided to grab an M3 MacBook Pro, and she absolutely loves it as much as I did when I first got it. It’s such a great value, and it’s hard to beat that kinda battery life. It’s nice to see the new Snapdragon processors should be bringing a little competition to the table, especially when it comes to battery performance. I’m excited to see what the future holds in store.

I've had mine for 4 years and it still works smoothly. It's my first MacBook as well and I take care of it like a baby.

Its the best computer I ever had. Bought it shortly after release and it is still going strong. I wrote my Bachelor‘s Thesis on it, i am writting my Master‘s in it and if ill do a PhD I‘ll also write that on it. There is no reason to upgrade for years to come.

Actually, the MBA's also had 1440x900 resolution for the 13". Maybe you were thinking the 11" were all the same across screen sizes during that era?

I've had my M1 MBP since release in 2020. It's hard to put into words, but it made portable my entire life. Hobbies like video editing, music, photography and my IT work suddenly all became available on something portable with a battery life that I could use and take anywhere. I use it every day, and because it is so good I have never missed my custom-built desktop PC. I actually did buy a gaming laptop to complement it, and sure it's way better for games BUT I actually forgot about the fan noise and heat! I forgot fan noise/heat were problems with other laptops lol. I also bought an M1 iPad Pro expecting great things. Yeah... Most expensive paperweight I own - Most of the time I check it is charged and then charge it or use it as a second display for my mac lol.

I got gifted my own MacBook Air M1 for graduating high school. I have to say, this is everything I needed in a laptop and more. This thing is a beast and even though the SoC is 3 years old it probably wipes the floor with brand new Intel laptop processors in terms of power and efficiency in this price range.

Still using my M1 Air that I bought in 2020. Still as fast as day 1, battery health at 95% but I didn’t even notice it degraded until I checked recently because it still lasts me 1-2 weeks using it for school. So so good.

I "upgraded" to an Asus ROG G14 after using my M1 Air for a couple years. First one had a bad fan. Returned. Second one was slightly bent after a few hours of setting it up. After that I realized how good I already had it with M1.

I love my M1 MacBook Air so much. It’s not just the nicest computer I’ve ever had.. it’s so easy to use and like it. I can’t find a single issue and I complain about everything. If I had ONE complaint, it would be the display doesn’t get quite dim enough for my liking but that’s really nitpicky. It’s a lovely machine. One handed opening, the credible display and speakers.. keyboard that makes you want to type.. WiFi and Bluetooth so good you’ll pick up WiFi signals a block away. It’s really insane how long the battery lasts too.. I’ve had mine for about three years and can still pull of 15 hours of streaming on auto-brightness. Solid machine. I wish I had an extra sealed in box lol.

My MBA M1 is a refurbished product 8/512. bought it because I was so intrigued of “apple silicon” things, ngl. and it became my main daily driver ever since (2022, june). ❤

It's impressive what they were able to accomplish with a first generation product. Mind you they've had a number of years to tune their own SOCs. And while there were some initial issues with programs being converted onto arm, by this point all of those issues have been taken care of. One thing that's fascinating about this particular laptop is you can go pick it up brand new for around 6:50 or refurbished around 400. That's an insane value despite it being 4 years old. There are good systems at or around that price. But unless you're mainly focusing on gaming or need a windows computer for specific programs, there's really not much that can compete with this it's mighty impressive what Apple was able to accomplish with this machine.

Even though I have the M2 Pro 14-Inch, I still heavily use my M1 Air.

M1 Air was simply too good for its times. It was leaving all laptops far behind, for quite a reasonable price. I'm still using my from Dec 2020 and I don't know if anything, except physical failure, will make me upgrade to anything new.

I just bought one of these MacBook Air M1 laptops from Walmart for $699. It's the best laptop I've ever owned.

I remember how ahead of the game it was when it first came out, and how it still is! The mind-blowing performance with a 14 hour battery life and zero fan noise in the size of a small folder felt indeed like a machine from the future. And to be fair, the design is much more appealing that the Air's that came after... it has a strange combination of retro and sleek that is not matched by its successors!

A used M1 MBA with 16GB RAM is a great deal today which will serve nicely for years to come. I just wish they had made a 32GB RAM variant.

MacBook Air m1 is perfect because: 1) power saving 2) small and sleek 3) they fixed previous flaws I see no real reason to upgrade from it if you have one. I still hold MBP with i9 because I love to use eGPU and easy switch to windows via option button on boot

Yesssss! I’ve had my M1 MBA for 2 years and I continue to love it. I know I’ll have it for at least 8 years just as my previous MacBook. I will miss the M1 MBA when it’s no longer able to function as it should. I can already tell an iPad Pro with keyboard will be my next “laptop” when my MBA’s time is up.

Everyone talking about how great the M1 Air is, but my experience was ruined by mine being owned by my school. Those knuckleheads got the thing with 128 gigs of storage, which caused me to run into storage troubles a few months in (this is just about the 4th year of having it). Even after clearing all my apps off of it (that I can, such as MS office), I still get 13 gigabytes free, with nothing more, no matter how much I take off (it always ends up settling, like I'll wake up from clearing 5 gigabytes and it mysteriously disappears, putting me back to 13). The thing also thermal throttles as soon as one of the performance cores kick in, jumping into the 80s and 90s whenever any real work needs to be done (since when was "Roblox" considered intense?). The lack of ports also means that I've needed to purchase dongles, with my external displays hardly being supported as a result. By the way, the computer is my own, being paid for with my tuition (so it's not "oh well it's the school's computer, so it's their decision"). The puny storage and MacOS have made my switch to pc (such as my finder no longer finding, and my mail no longer letting me search through emails, for example).

Writing from my amazing M1 Air 16/512 (which I partly financed by selling my 2015 13inch Pro), a fantastic machine still going strong 3 years since purchase and one I'm unlikely to upgrade from for at least the next 3-4 years. Only downside is the battery life which was incredible for a while but now seems to have taken a big hit... (edit: CoconutBattery shows 83% of design capacity)

As a tech enthusiast, I've always been curious to get around to trying out a modern Mac, as I like try to be at least somewhat literate in as much as possible. It's just a bit hard to stomach the high prices and locked down nature of the hardware. I could deal with the soldered RAM, but the soldered SSDs are the hard no for me, as that's a wear item that will eventually fail. The new ARM powered Macs look very enticing, but I can't justify getting something so expensive that I can't continually upgrade/repair to keep running for as long as possible to get my money's worth.

I sold my iPad Pro to replace it with an M1 MacBook Air, and it ended up totally replacing my 2019 16" MBP. Great video!

Great video, I bought mine secondhand over a year ago, worth every penny, amazing speed, a very refined product (coming from a 2015 macbook air) They brought magsafe back on the next M2 model, and i know I should have got 16gb ram not 8gb but 99% of the time its brilliant even with 50 tabs open.

I have the second tiered MacBook Air M1; it's a total beast. The machine has not let me down. Keeping this until it's a collector's item.

Christmas 2020 Bought my wife a m1 8 gig air and i bought a 13inch M1 Pro 16gig with the Touch Bar with the hopes of me upgrading to the at the time rumored 14inch pro. I still have the 13 inch best Mac laptop to date

sold my macbook air 2017 for $500 bought the m1 for $1100 at launch. (not from usa) it has served me well for my video editing job, i love it.

I like the new one, especially in midnight blue which made me purchase it. I've tried owning many Macbooks before before but couldn't do it. The new OS and quad retina display rocks!

I've used an MBP M1 Pro and now I'm using the Air M1 and the power consumption/performance is very good. I use mainly for coding. The only problem is that the applications are using too much ram, but it's a laptop from 2020.

I just picked up a 2020 Macbook Air M1 for $140 on FB marketplace. I Couldn't be happier. It has a few scratches and scufs, but works perfectly.

I've had an iBook 12" 2004, a 2007 MBP 13" Retina thingy, a 2013 MBP 13" Retina thingy, and most recently a 2022 MBA 13" M2 thingy. That's roughly one laptop every 5 years for the last two decades. This is where Apple's bloated prices are destroyed. Nothing ever went wrong, nothing broke, they just got old and needed to be upgraded. My 2013 MBP is still used daily as a secondary laptop for TV streaming.

I've got the base model, and while I regret the storage space, it still smashes through photo editing in Photoshop and Lightroom, and can browse the internet prefect. I plan on keeping it for years to come.

The M1 Air is truely THE ultrabook, one that managed to strike the perfect balance between lightweight design and performance, and one that many Windows competitors once dreamed of making (even Apple themselves with the 12” Macbook), the only thing that were keeping them from doing so was Intel and their power-hungry chips 😂 And that’s not to mention the student-friendliness and the almost-impossible battery life, say what you want about Apple but they really outdid themselves and the laptop industry with this machine right here.

I'm using an M2 Pro 14" MBP on the daily right now, but you're definitely fair, the Air was great, even though I find that the first AS MBPs were probably an even bigger upgrade.

I don’t think the size was all there was to it to macbook trackpads. From what I remember tracking and finger feel where miles ahead as well. The multi touch gestures were ahead of their time as well.

Bought the base M1 Mini on the day of the Apple Silicon Event back in 2020. I still think of it as my NEW Mac....after almost 4 years ! Apple put the laptop world on notice with the OG M1 MBA.....and now nVidia/Intel are following their lead with the ARM-based SnapDragon SoCs.

After 12-13 years of being a Windows user, I bought a M1 MBA last year and it became the best computer I've ever used. Every other brand felt functional but compromised whereas the M1 MBA felt like actual luxury. No more pop-ups, no more resetting my tabs every time I boot up my computer, getting the advertised battery life and then some, I even do some gaming on here. The M1 MBA was the first computer I felt like I was having fun on since my first family computer and the first ever laptop I had a blast with.

I'm watching this video on the M1 Air. Now, despite owning an M1 MacBook Pro 14-inch, I ended up buying a MacBook Air M1. It was more of a spontaneous buy, as the price on Amazon dropped to as low as $800 last November. Besides, I wanted something that was lighter, which the Air certainly is and I always liked the wedge design; a form factor that Apple has abandoned on the latest Air. I knew Apple wasn't going to keep it around for much longer. In my opinion, the final versions of old laptops are generally the best. I can say this as I still have a functioning fully-spec'd out 13-inch Unibody MacBook Pro, as a third computer and it's still working just fine, nearly eight years after I bought it. Just like the M1 Air, I got the Unibody in 2016, when it was being phased out. That deal was even better at just $576.

i had one of the first m1 mac minis. A year later I realised i needed it in portable format and traded it for a m1 macbook pro with a local dude with no cash exchanging hands. Best trade ever!

The leap of performance from Intel to M1 is incredible. That’s why M1 is the best for those before it and after. The hype isn’t the same for the newer ones, maybe when the time comes, but for now. M1 Air rocks

Hello brother...i moticed that Apple is still selling the M1 MacBook Air from 2020. It seems like a pretty good deal for less demanding users. However, when looking at the macOS support table on Wikipedia*, it does not look like the M1 will be able to install many more future macOS versions. For example, the 2017 MacBook Air supports macOS only up to 2021. That’s five years. If the same ends up being true for the M1, that means that it will stop supporting macOS versions in 2026. In other words, if you get an M1 for Christmas this year, you’ll get two more yearly macOS updates in 2024 and 2025, and that’s it. That seems pretty low, considering that the version of Safari is tied to the version of macOS. Is there any indication that the M1 will have a longer macOS support period? I feel like I don’t want to buy it unless it supports macOS at least until 2027 (five years from now). *

Have multiple MBA with the latest is the 2018. Still want to get my hands on a Silicon MBA and will check if they have one on sale at a swamp meet this weekend.

I bought one of these about a month ago in near mint condition and like 95% battery health for 500 euros. Although hesitant to be buying a 4 year old laptop, once I got it in my hands I felt like I just robbed someone for what I paid for it. Light yet rigid and durable. Great screen that's super easy on the eyes. Fantastic speakers for a laptop that size. Quick and snappy in almost every task. What a truly great little machine. Apple knocked it out of the park with the M1 air. I believe it's still worth buying in 2024 if you can get for like below 650 dollars or euros.

The m1 MacBook Air is so good, I bought one when it was first launched and upgraded to an m3 pro MacBook Pro this year and the MBP just feels like a waste of money in comparison, sure its better but not 2x the price better.

you may have, and I just totally missed it, but I think you really should've touched on battery life, I am currently using an i7 16 inch 2019 MacBook Pro, about 100 battery cycles, I get on a good day maybe 8-9 hours of pages/schoolwork, if im editing videos, music, or anything more intensive, it drops to probably at best about 4-5 hours. my moms MacBook Air m1 is rated for 18 hours, it has about 350 battery cycles on it, and will constantly get 14-16 hours doing the mundane stuff like pages and web browsing/video streaming. if I edit videos, music, or just do more intense stuff on that, its slower, but the battery life is about 8-10 hours depending on how intense it is. I feel like the best part of the M1 is simply how middle of the road everything is, the CPU is just fine, the GPU is just fine, the screen is just fine, the speakers are phenomenal, the battery life is superb, and its on par with 13th gen mobile i5 CPU's... but still has better battery life

few hours back I was thinking about exchanging my one year old MBA M1 for M3 Macbook Pro and all of a sudden this video popped out from no where and removed my blindfold and slapped the heck out of me to wake to reality and now I love my M1 MBA even more. The M1 MacBook was so good it’s probably still eating into Apple’s new laptop sales even four years later. It was so far ahead of the intel stuff that came before it and so ridiculously good that there’s not so much of an incentive to upgrade.

I've had my M1 Air for over 3 years, and I still absolutely love it and see no reason to upgrade it.

Yeah i know that m1 MBA was the perfect laptop for me as soon as i saw it’s release. No butterfly nonsense, no touchbar, thin and light, not too big nor too small, long battery life, decent screen, no fan, and comes with apple silicone. It’s just simple no nonsense and works.
