As part of my silversmith residency at Kedleston Hall, the National Trust commissioned two videos produced by filmmaker Ben Wigley. This video is filmed at my workshop studio in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter. Traditional silversmithing techniques are being demonstrated to show the various stages of the making process to achieve a hand raised silver form.

What a marvelous video! I collect silver and am starting to learn how to make small objects. This was exactly what I hoped to see, the materials, tools necessary to make larger objects! Thank you for this video, absolutely lovely items!

Yes. Such a shame when artists of anglers or whatever "ruin" their videos, but putting noise on top of the authentic sounds, or even instead of.

Since learning vessel work in college, I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to source the T stakes I used so I can produce more pieces. But seeing that sizable forms can be created with smaller stakes on extended holders gives me new hope.

Lovely work! I used to manage a shoppe of Georg Jensen here in Southern California. The position had it's perks and I was fortunate enough to be able to visit the "Smithy" in Copenhagen, where I learned much from the artisans in making hollowware. These days, I use stainless steel as my material of preference and leave small hammer marks in my bowls to remind me of Jensen. I subscribed to your channel because I believe I can learn so much more from you! Thanks for the video!

I really enjoy your love of design and of the material, and how articulate you are about your process. I just purchased a couple of stakes and raised my first tumbler, and appreciate your videos, especially since I haven't seen anyone demonstrate this work in the real three-dimensional world. My tumbler seemed a bit lumpy compared to yours...

I'm hooked on Blacksmithing videos and came across this. Very impressive at the time, energy and focus required to produce these works. Theresa, what was the motivation to becoming a silversmith? Was your training exclusively in silver or all metals? What do you think are the main advantages of artisans such as yourself over getting something from a factory? I use to be an illustrator and would find hours slip away because I got absorbed in the delight of my work. Does that happen to you?

Yet I’m still don’t understand, why didn’t she heat the metal and straight away put in mould then using press to shape the bow?? Is that much easier and faster rather then hammer and hammer and hammer..
